  • I was over the moon as a 13 year old girl from Turkey visiting New York City in 1990. In a music store, seeing how overwhelmed and happy I was, my mom gave me some money and told me to pick out one album from an artist I didn’t know but one that caught my eye. I picked up Johnny Gill’s album. I’ve listened to that cassette so many times for so many years, guessing the lyrics (My English wasn’t so good), dancing to it and simply daydreaming to it. Thank you Johnny, you are such a talented amazing musician. Lots of love from Istanbul!

  • The summer of 1990 was probably the most successful moment for the members of New Edition, for two weeks, three different records were in the top 10: this, Bell Biv Devoe’s “Poison”, and Bobby/Glenn Mederios’s “She Ain’t Worth It”. And this all happened when spin-off New Kids On The Block had their #1 smash “Step By Step”. I recently found a broadcast of MTV from this period where this and “Poison” played in the same hour, airing in between the Knebworth concert and the Headbangers’ Ball, proving that in those pre-Internet, pre-Beavis & Butthead days, the TV was still king regarding music promotion. Ralph would later have his solo top ten hit “Sensitivity” about six months later. Sadly, people under 40, even those in the maturing 25-39 group don’t have to much appreciation for this great, overlooked period of urban contemporary music if it isn’t rap. That said, the guys are still going strong today!

  • This message is for my Mr. Old School Geeee out there . Today is Wed, and I’m standing here looking up at God, saying I don’t care what’s going on in the world. I still believe .there is a Mr. Coolness out there for me who wants a real lady .in return, i want a real gentleman, not the one who always chooses options and counterfeits. In the end, burn for life. I want real family .real joy success and in work and play .someone who ride wit me to make the impossible, possible . GOD thank you for my Mr coolness G REAL G out there luv FM.

  • I loved this song as a Kid!!! I asked for the cassette for Christmas (Fair-weather Friend was my jam too!) Now as an adult I just laugh that I was JAMMIN OUT to this as an 8 year old: Johnny said “I’ll rub you with my magic hands” and the classic aggressive “Stroke!” that comes after the hook! 😂😂😂 (I always knew good music!)👌🏽👌🏽👌🏽

  • Johnny Gill voice was like no Other…but yet he never blow up like a R Kelly or any R&B POPULAR SINGER WHO HAD MORE SUCCESS…THE RECORD BUSINESS IS FAKE AS COUNTER FIT MONEY, CHOOSING THE LEAST PERFORMER OVER A MONSTER LIKE JOHNNY GILL AUTHENTIC VOICE… The most slept R&B TALENT OF ALL TIMES IN MY OPINION🤔👏👏👏👏👏
