In the game of Skyrim, the Necromancer’s Amulet is a legendary enchanted item that once belonged to Mannimarco, the King of Worms. It can be found on Calixto Corrium’s corpse and can be changed into the Necromancer’s Amulet by selling it to Calixto the Curio museum guy. The amulet is not a quest item and cannot be removed from your inventory.
The Unofficial Skyrim Patch, version 1.0, addresses this issue by replacing the Strange Amulet with the Necromancer’s Amulet. To do so, exit Fort Onus and return to Arcane University. Speak to Traven and hand over the amulet. If you have completed ‘The Bloodworm Helm’ quest, speak to her. However, the amulet cannot be removed or cured of its negative effects. An easy fix is the blessing of Talos power from the knights of the nine, or you can make a long mistake and strip the amulet from her corpse.
On PC, the Strange Amulet can be removed using the console by typing player. After leaving Hjerim, sell the amulet to Calixto and talk to Viola, who will instruct you to talk to Jorlef. However, the amulet is a quest item and cannot be removed from your inventory. If you want to remove it, you can reload a past save.
In summary, the Necromancer’s Amulet is a quest item that cannot be removed from your inventory. The Unofficial Skyrim Patch, version 1.0, addresses this issue by replacing it with the Necromancer’s Amulet. However, it is unclear if Bethesda will ever patch the issue.

Should I sell the amulet?
The Sentient Amulet, a rare item found in Baldur’s Gate 3, is a challenging item to acquire due to its suspicious nature. Acquiring it requires fighting a Lava Elemental, navigating environmental hazards, and opening a high DC lock. The spirit’s madness can lead to different outcomes and upgrades for the amulet, but both have risks. The player can choose to accept the spirit’s madness or refuse it, resulting in different outcomes and upgrades.
The Sentient Amulet stands out from other necklaces in the game due to its ability to communicate with the player. While equipping such items with suspicion is recommended for safe play in the Forgotten Realms, it’s not necessarily worth it. The ultimate payoff for the amulet’s story doesn’t come until Act 3 of Baldur’s Gate 3, making it difficult to make an informed decision when the amulet is first acquired.
Can I keep the necromancer’s amulet?
The Strange Amulet is a legendary enchanted amulet of immense power, once belonging to Mannimarco, the King of Worms. It can only be removed from the inventory if the Dragonborn does not pick it up or sell it to Calixto. At the end of “Blood on the Ice”, the Strange Amulet becomes the Necromancer Amulet and can be removed from Calixto Corrium’s corpse. The amulet is useful for mages specializing in ranged magic, as it reduces spell costs to the school of Conjuration, allowing them to summon atronachs and raise corpses more rapidly.
However, mages with low stamina may find using the amulet for bound weaponry less beneficial. The amulet also gives +50 Magicka and other positive enchantments, especially useful for characters that have not unlocked Extra Effect. Bretons and Altmer can double their racial +50 magicka bonus by wearing the amulet.
Should you give Calixto the amulet?
The Necromancer Amulet is a legendary artifact created by King Mannimarco, granting wisdom beyond one’s years and greater capability in the School of Conjuration. It is unstable and will fade in and out of existence, reappearing at distant locations. The Strange Amulet is found during the quest Blood on the Ice in Hjerim, the home of Friga Shatter-Shield. Calixto Corrium, who claims it is the Wheelstone, offers to buy it for 500 gold.
However, it is revealed to be the Necromancer’s Amulet of legend when Wuunferth the Unliving or accusing him of being the Butcher. Refusing to sell the Strange Amulet will result in the item remaining a quest item.
Can you get the Strange Amulet back from Calixto?
The Strange Amulet is an enchanted necklace found in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, hidden under a pile of Beware the Butcher! pamphlets in Hjerim. It is part of a ritual to restore a dead woman to life by collecting body parts. The Dragonborn, led to believe it is a ceremonial amulet called the Wheelstone, offers to buy it for 500. If the Dragonborn keeps the amulet and doesn’t sell it to Calixto, it remains a quest item forever, unable to be sold, and never attains any capability.
If the Dragonborn sells the amulet, it will be identified as the Necromancer Amulet. The amulet is described as eight-sided, jade, ringed with ebony, and a worn carving. In-game, the amulet is circular and the carved skull is completely unworn. The Necromancer’s Amulet in The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion more accurately matched the Dragonborn’s description.
How do I get rid of the Strange Amulet in Skyrim?
It is not possible to remove the item designated as “bone bones” in Blood on the Ice unless it is sold to Calixto during the course of Blood on the Ice. In the event that this is not done, the item in question will become a useless quest item in the player’s inventory. It is anticipated that this issue will be resolved in version 1. 9. It is possible that the issue resides with Gallus’s journal rather than the amulet itself. While the item itself is not particularly bothersome, an inventory filled with useless quest items is suboptimal.
Can I get another Ghostspeak amulet?
The ghostspeak amulet, also known as the Amulet of Ghostspeak, is obtained from Father Uhrney in the Lumbridge Swamp during The Restless Ghost quest. If lost, players can exchange it with Father Uhrney for a new one. The amulet can be used to converse with ghosts, but without it, the player will only hear “woooo wooo wooooo woooo” when speaking with a ghost. It is required for various quests after The Restless Ghost, including Animal Magnetism, Do No Evil, Nature Spirit, Ghosts Ahoy, Making History, Creature of Fenkenstrain, Smoking Kills, A Fairy Tale Part I, Cabin Fever, Spirit of Summer, and Summer’s End. It is also necessary for shopping in Port Phasmatys, speaking to Metarialus, the ghostly brewer, and obtaining Ghostly robes in the Ghostly robes miniquest.
Why can’t I get rid of my amulet of Talos?
The amulet, procured from Roggvir in Solitude following his execution, is a quest item that may be initiated by speaking to Svari (Child) in Solitude. Although the item may be subject to a technical malfunction that prevents the completion of the quest, it should be available as a drop.
Can a necromancer revive the dead?
Necromancers can use resurrection magic to bring the dead back to life, a process resembling the Earth concept of ‘Zombies’. These resurrected beings are preserved, capable of self-repair, and may be stronger than their original form. However, their senses may be muted due to a trade-off between their preserved bodies and their powerful saliva. With enough magic, a necromancer can turn a Zombie into a Vampire Larva. Necromancers can also summon souls, such as the Corpse God’s animated’skeletons’ used for household chores.
These skeletons are created by attracting elements of nearby metals and stones and fashioned as temporary vessels for summoned souls. While summoning souls in their original form is possible, it requires a significant amount of magic and is reserved for worst-case scenarios.
What is the best unique amulet in Skyrim?
In Skyrim, players can acquire various powerful necklaces to enhance their character’s stats. These necklaces include the Gauldur Amulet, Amulet of the Gargoyle, Amulet of Bats, Amulet of Articulation, Locket Of Saint Jiub, Kyne’s Token, Charmed Necklace, and Amulet Of Akatosh. These necklaces offer special abilities that cannot be earned through weapon or armor enchantments. Most adventurers only experience a fraction of the game, so they may not be aware of the secret pieces of jewelry that can be obtained through quests and locations.
These necklaces range from those created for the gods to vampiric necklaces that spawn gargoyles. By obtaining these necklaces, players can customize their character’s stats and gain unique abilities that are not available through weapon or armor enchantments.
Does the Strange Amulet do anything?
The Strange Amulet, a powerful tool, is revealed to be the Necromancer’s Amulet, which can be enchanted with various stats. However, your IP address has been temporarily blocked due to a large number of HTTP requests. Common causes include the latest version of the Opera browser sending multiple invalid requests to servers for every page visited, the Brave browser or Ghostery add-on sending extra traffic to servers, and some unofficial phone apps using GameFAQs as a back-end. These apps trigger anti-spambot measures, preventing automated systems from flooding the site with traffic. Continued use of these apps may result in IP block indefinitely.
Other common causes include using scripts or add-ons that scan GameFAQs for box and screen images, running a “scraper” or “downloader” program that doesn’t identify itself or uses fake headers, using poorly configured browser add-ons for blocking content, and overusing the search engine with a large number of searches in a short amount of time. If you promise to stop, the connection will be unblocked for now, but will be re-blocked if additional bad behavior is detected.
Can you catch Calixto in Skyrim?
The issue with the Unofficial Skyrim Patch 2. 0. 1 can be resolved by setting stage MS11 105 in the console to trigger the next murder and continue the quest. However, if you talk to Wuunferth after completing the quest, he may start a second instance that cannot be completed. To resolve this, speak to Wuunferth in his cell after the three-day wait period for the second murder. The Unofficial Skyrim Patch also addresses this issue by allowing the key to only appear if Calixto is killed.
To catch Calixto, type setstage MS11 130 and follow the indicator. The victim will be alive, but the key will not appear when you return to the same location. Lockpicking the stables door and interacting with Calixto seems to reset his routine.

I once made Susanna my thrall and she lasted or nearly the entirety o my playthrough. She is very unique looking. If you are playing an evil necromancer she is a must, as her scars look brutal. She finally got zapped and turned into dust at some point through… I was devastated. Was temped to console her back in…. I consoled her back in…Many times xD
I loved this mission but never completed it I have to remember where I left off so I can see if it was finished. Seeing this actually helps me to know where to go and what to do and also who to talk to. This game is like no other and ever since I pre ordered the game when it first came out to this day is my go to game to play even though I have just over 30 or 40 games. You the man brotha eso you the man
well, idk what happened….but the court wizard was my guilty man,did not even know we needed to sell the amulet to the curiosity shop guy…..till I watched this article (after the fact lol ) omg…dangnabbit uhhhg. OK…going back to an earlier save and try this again the proper way—>> UPDATE, uh huh. Done the right way that necklace is an amazing piece for a Mage. TY again ESO !!
Help! I walked into Windhelm for the first time, and I couldn’t find those people that start to quest, no one was there at the graves. so I went into the pub and stole the key and went into the house but it wouldn’t let me investigate anything and when I took the amulet, the 2 journals and butcher flyers none of that counted towards the quest. Then I went to speak to a guard about the amulet but it doesn’t let me talk to them, the amulet doesn’t count as a quest item cause I can drop it on the floor. The guy that you are suppose to sell it too has his house permanently locked so I can’t enter his house to sell it to him. Can someone please help me? My character is a level 13 Argonian, maybe that has to do with something? No one there likes Dark Elfs or Argonians…. Maybe they don’t want me to have the quest? I don’t know! I have both Dawnguard Dragonborn, and Hearthfire DLCs…
Is this common? Because, I finished the imperial quest line and then the guard that you’re supposed to talk to after you questioned the wittiness. And then he was a traitor and still basically considered as supporting ulfric stromcloak and the imperial guards killed him so the quest is now glitched and now I am doomed but if you guys can help just reply out and help me or probably you ESO?
Hello ESO I know this Is a skyrim article but how do you get into FNV it just bores me like, i could get into but i just cant how did you get into it i recently purchased it pre-owned for £2.95 and im just thinking of taking it back unless i can really get into it or would fallout 3 be a better fallout to start with and slowwly move into nv im well into skyrim A lot and oblivion from time to time and a bit of morrowind if im feeling like it but fallout no way it might be the post apoc feel it might be theres guns i just dont know please help IM on Xbox for fnv and skyrim
First of all, this is not a hidden quest. Second, you have to do it in a very specific way for it to all work. After you have gained entrance to Hjerim you must take both butcher journals and examine up stairs and downstairs. When you have finished you must next speak to Calixto and sell him the amulet. The tour is not necessary. Then you speak to Viola Giordano who will tell you to go to the Jorlef. Do not go to him. Go to the mage and he will tell you to patrol the stone quarter the next night. You will then see Calixto attempt to kill a girl. Stop him by killing him. When you loot his body the amulet will now be the Necromancers amulet with really good stats. Works every time.
When I got to this leg of the quest, I’d already kicked Alduin to Sovngarde and back, whereas I did the first part (arresting Wuunferth) before… well before a LOT of things. I had no idea what I was talking about when my character brought up an amulet. I have it now thanks to this article but calixto is already dead and it’s useless to me. 🙁
I pickpocketed the key from him before i did the quest and opened the chest and was like da fuq is dis shit he saw me steal it…NO IDEA HOW THO MY SNEAK IS 100 AND I WAS HIDDEN…so he fcking got the damn guards to tear me a new one so i came back and fucking stole his shit again because i had the key to his house
yeah.. well i acidentally killed the guard i was supposed to report to afterwards. started doing the quest and left it for a while, got into a fight inside the church and of course the guards came in, and i killed all of them. and then 2 days later i decided to continue the quest, and got sent to the church, expecting the worst. and sure enough the quest marker was over the dead guard.. so yeah.
if anyone is having a bug where the blood doesn’t show up on the pavement (after you speak to Helgrid and leave the crypt) i just went straight to Hjerim and pressed on the door, it made the quest progress. Note: this wont fix everyones bug, apparently theres like 100 bugs just in this one mission. ridiculous :T
I NEED HELP… I didn’t bring the amulet to the court mage I told joe Leif he was the killer. Quest reappeared a little later. Calixto is standing in the spot he’s going to murder someone at. He won’t move. I can’t give him the amulet. I can’t give the amulet to the wizard. Is there anything I can do?
INPORTANT!!!!!! ESO U MUST READ so if u buy the house in wind helm there is the amulet in the house!!!!!! it does nothing for u and says strange amulet it’s in the house there is a shelf with the butcher notes with the butcher notes there is the amulet?!!!!?!!???????!!!!! it gives u no benifets but it’s there!!!! please make a vid finding it were I told u
Jorlief says the guards will help out any way they can. But literally stood and stared at the entire murder. The guard even said something like. “I’m going to look the other way” the gaurd watches me and Calixto. Guard just stands there while he kills her. I even tried to prevent the murder and succeeded but guard just stands down. Thank s for doing your job Windhelm. Thanks for being a douche bag pawn Windhelm guard.
So many bugs and misunderstandings in this quest. I did manage to keep the amulet without selling it back to Calixto. I tried selling it back after I spoke to Wuthger which caused Calixto to be busy. But I was still able to keep the amulet. Perhaps the bug is fixed or the DLC to fix bugs that I have fixed it. It was certainly a cool quest for it’s ability to create a different style of game play…a mini game if you will.
I had to wait 7 days for the 2nd dead body to show up infront of the… the first house when u enter Winterhold but I waited 3 days and it didnt work then I quested on the Rueful axe and the DawnBreaker and once I finished those it had bin 7 days, so I went back and started up that quest… Btw I’ use only ESO’s articles to find the Artifact weapons and such, just to show my support….
I don’t understand why starting the DB quests prevents this one from starting? I made that mistake unknowingly. Too late now I guess. I found Tova who committed suicide and took the key to the house and it wouldn’t let me investigate anything. It just labeled everything “Investigation, Investigationtarget”
3 hidden chests in skyrim vanilla no mods. The one everyone knows at dawnstar. One at the farm near markarth One just ouside of Solitide main gates. You should do a article of them? gret all 3 of them in a single vid for maximum efect and newness when its really hard to get nes on yt. Telling and showing 3 THREEE hidden chests instead of one would be a good thing for peeps to know.
Anybody else have items go missing when you did the Thalamor embassy quest. I gave my stuff to our inside man, and Delphine, but my Krosis mask went missing. I had it right before the quest, checked all my stashes, at least the ones I had recently been to, nothing. I now know why I need the eight masks, but one is missing! I am fully open that by slim chance I dropped it while cleaning up my inventory, but I usually am very careful what I drop, but anything is possible. I’m too far along to just reload an older save. I also was convinced I would find the mask so I didn’t lose sleep over it until I checked all my stashes. You’d think this would fall under quest items that can’t be removed, apparently not.
I was trying my best to not do this quest, then post civil war I was like “I’ll buy that house! I remember it was nice”. facepalm I walk in after the civil war having never triggered the damn quest in any way only to have me walking in trip the thing…. At least I got to skip all the way to the part where you investigate the house.
So I got the amulet, and it went from the Strange Amulet to the Necromancer’s amulet, and it does have the enchantment on it, but I never followed through with the rest. I suspect it was that dark brotherhood quest that caused it to happen; The quest is no longer in my journal at all. Not in complete, not in active. It’s just gone. Because that quest is gone however, I can’t buy the house. I have all the other properties except that one.
What’s so hidden about any of this quest? I mean other than the random-ass start time. You’d have to go to Windhelm like once ever and never return to miss it. Cool quest though. Only had it shit itself once near the end. Oh and I’ve never sold the amulet but I think USLEEP turns it into the necromancer amulet after you show it to Wuunferth.
I messed up this quest so much. So I did the steps up until I needed to search hjerim and I only investigated the 11 flyers and journal location and proceeded to arrest the court wizard. I thought the quest was over even though I got no reward so I bought the house from jorlief and furnished it completely so I can’t even get the strange amulet because the shelf is hidden in the wall now. What a shame.
Help I did it wrong I think I never took the amulet from the house and as I’m perusal this article I realize it so I went to the house and to the cubbard but it was already furnished so I said oh well and continued the quest well whenever you catch him your supposed to get the amulet but I didn’t please help:(
It’s buggy. But you can use your headset. I mean you don’t need to but it’s easier to hear what your after. And slide your pick around the lock line, give it a few passes what your listening for is the ever so slightest clicky of the pick in the lock pay attention to where that sound came from and also be sure to try a couple different speeds I find that something a tad faster than a medium crawl across the lock usually works. And as soon as you hear the sound stop. Reason I say give it a few passes is because if you stop your pick in the same spot a few times chances are that’s your spot. Another one is memorizing the common lock spots on master and expert locks. Last tip if it keeps giving you a false flag when lock picking try spots closer but not quite all the way towards the most lefter and most right of the lock. Most Master locks like to hide that thin line off to the sides if it can but do try the slide method versus educated guessing because if you can slide and find your pin you’ll have a much easier chance of picking that lock without breaking too many picks if any at all.
I know this is an old article and I’m sure other’s have thought of this idea but this quest makes me think that this is a node to the Jack the Ripper mystery, making the connection with the killer murdering women, large cuts, happening around night, the killer having knowledge of bones and a doctor like person and the letter’s Jack wrote. I wondering if this interests you ESO and hope it gives you a bit of fun with this theory.
I got this quest and didn’t really care at the time i had only just arrived in windhelm and i was a thieving bastard so as i was breaking into peoples houses i found out it was him i did the quest and they said it was the court mage and i got the court mage killed/arrested never found the amulet and then killed calixto. 10/10 easy to follow quest.
the quest for me is bugged. i cant progress anymore through the quest. Ive already went inside the house and discovered the journals. Ive already done this quest before in my other games and i never had this bug. when i activate the quest all it tells me to get advise from jarleif and that it and i am level 32 and don’t want to start over from scratch
FYI if your bounty is low when the guards try to talk to you, you can just press the button to get to your items magic map and skill level and he will leave you alone, for example I have ps4 and I press circle when they try to talk to me.. I have had a bounty pretty much sense level 15 and have never had to pay or go to jail.
hey eso, if you can, can you tell me how to get passed another glitch? I sell the amulet to the man ( however I have to wait till he is outside as the house of curiosities is permanently locked) but I cannot continue as nobody wants to talk to me about it… please help me, I really want that amulet!
I had a hell with this second part mission where you had to patrol the street, turned out the curser pointed at the wrong place and after finding that out I whent back to an earlier save file so I could do it right and maybe save the women that gets killed, well did not work for some reson the game bugged out and instead I had finished the patrol part of the quest and now had to run after the killer, even though I quick saved 3 nights (ingame) before I started running around the place, (also did not get that the amulet)
I need help i skipped the guard with the crowd then they were gone. After that i did the stormcloak side but i can’t get the house since halways says the lin “there is an empty house but there was some …unpleasantness.” i tried to do the quest for blood on the ice but i couldn’t do it after perusal this article i found tova dead and it won’t let me do the quest i need help
Also, I know I should probably ask this in another vid but I want to hear people’s opinion. Skyrim is a game that I love but I always love it, then leave it, then come back. I always wanted the dlcs but my eyes were always on dawnguard because it was the 1st dlc I knew about and because it looked badass. I set myself to a limit of $100 I can spend on stuff and I’m thinking of getting all of the dlcs for $45 dollars (without counting the pc only dlc) so is it worth it? Like, should I only get dragonborn? Dawnguard? Dragonborn and dawnguard? Heartfire (I think that’s what it was called)?
