In the present, Zelena returns to Storybrooke after being confronted by Dorothy. She is the only one to have successfully cast and perform the time travel spell. Zelena had once lost her magic to help her sister but regained it 18 years later by willingly absorbing her daughter’s magic.
In an extremely rare instance of selflessness, Zelena destroyed her magic and effectively set the Black Fairy back at square one in her mission. robin’s magic isn’t weak, it’s powerful, but she was terrible at using it and had no experience. that’s why he gave the amulet to zelena, because zelena knew how to use magic and had practice. now the wicked witch of the west has returned with her strong powers! zelena used little of her powers this season such as: telekinesis, pyrokinesis, teleportation and sucked the sight of the blind witch. she is also a great fighter, she knows how to fight hand to hand combat.
I never really thought Zelena is going to do this! not that I was much surprised cause I do remember how much she was abused only for having magic in her younger years and if they actually mentioned that part, it would make more sense to me if part of her was still wanting to get rid of magic and be normal. but here, all she did seemed more like cleaning up a mess all over again, like if she hadn’t tricked by Black Fairy, she wouldn’t really needed to loose her magic and that getting tricked part was also another one of her obsession of proving herself to everyone, which I still think was unneeded! in entire S5, she by still being a villain and not doing one good thing and only being Regina’s naive little damsel in distress, was able to join the band and in this episode suddenly she wasn’t part of them? I know Regina had been ignoring her lately and I would be ok if she was just heartbroken over Regina’s treatment but still same story of proving herself for a crowd that already was accepting her…hah this show just throwing away potentials is making my blood boil!
