  • The difference between an Sq and sqe is the ability to be paired with a cu301 or cu300 controller. Sq pumps are not supported with either controller. Otherwise they perform the same as far as pump curves. Iirc only 1/2hp is supported to 115v otherwise they are 230v. Both Sq and sqe pumps are a 2 wire pump. The sqe does not require the use of a controller (cu301 or cu300) and can be wired directly to a pressure switch for operation. They are both soft start soft stop. The sqe is a far better pump because you can set underload wattage with an mi301 with an applicable controller in low well production situations.

  • hello engineer 775, do you know of any similar booster type pumps for above ground that have this same soft start tech in them? My water setup is a 2HP pump in the ground and a 2HP pump above ground that pulls from a tank that the well fills. These SQ pumps are great for the well. But what can I do to get a soft start booster pump above ground? I realize there are constant pressure pumps available but they are very expensive. I’m looking for an on off type pressure boosting pump with soft startup to be run offgrid. thank you!

  • Good article. Might I ask a question? I have a problem with my pump at my residence. The well I pump from is a geothermal well which provides heat to my house and outbuildings via an open loop radiant heat system. My problem is I can’t find a pump that will handle the heat. I’m 145′ in depth at 175°. Sure I can’t be the only person to have this problem. 2hp 230v 3 wire. Thanks, anything helps.

  • Our Water Level has Dropped to the level of the 10GPM Pump. The Well guys want to Replace it with a 5GPM Pump and lower it 40 Feet. The Well is 420 feet deep and the Pump is at 320 feet. By the Stain on the Pipe it looks like the Water Level was 20 feet higher than the 10GPM Pump. Would you be good with that?
