How Horoscope Charts Are Produced?

The AskAstrology Birth Chart Calculator is a free online tool that allows users to create personalized birth charts, providing a visual representation of the sun’s position and the exact placements of planets (Uranus, Saturn, etc.). By entering your birth date, time, and place, you can determine if you are a cusp sign and what that means. The calculator balances modern appearance with up-to-date data from NASA’s planetary databases.

The calculator also offers interpretations and techniques for the natal chart, including aspects, planets in houses and signs, declinations, midpoints, and lunar phases. It helps users discover their hidden potential and guide them towards fulfilling relationships, thriving careers, and profound personal evolution.

A natal chart, also known as a map of the stars, uses the exact date, time, and location of birth to recreate a snapshot of the sky at your precise moment of arrival. It is hyperspecific to you and requires no math beyond adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing.

There are three main parts to interpreting a birth chart: the planets, the signs, and the houses. A birth chart shows the snapshot of where each planet is located. The Navamsa Chart is calculated by dividing each sign of the zodiac into nine equal parts, resulting in 108 divisions or Navamsas.

In summary, the AskAstrology Birth Chart Calculator is a valuable tool for those interested in astrology and its impact on personality and life paths. By understanding the importance of time and applying it to the location, date, and time of a person’s birth, users can gain a deeper understanding of their astrological potential and personal growth.

What is my chart ruled by?

The planet that rules the ascendant sign in a birth chart is determined by the ascendant sign itself. For example, a Leo Sun and a rising Virgo would indicate that the ruling planet is Venus. The planet Mercury, which rules the zodiac sign of Virgo, is the ruling planet for a Leo Sun and a rising Virgo. This ruling planet reflects the characteristics associated with your zodiac sign, providing a reference point to inform your actions and navigate life’s challenges.

Billboard tracks radio songs, digital songs, and streaming songs on approximately 1, 000 stations, which are digitally monitored 24/7. The charts are ranked by gross audience impressions, computed by cross-referencing exact times of radio airplay with Arbitron listener data. Digital sales are tracked by Nielsen SoundScan and included as part of a title’s sales points. Streaming Songs is a collaboration between Billboard, Nielsen SoundScan, and the National Association of Recording Merchandisers, measuring the top streamed radio songs, on-demand songs, and videos on leading online music services.

The tracking week for sales, streaming, and airplay begins on Friday and ends on Thursday. A new chart is compiled and officially released by Billboard on Tuesday, with each chart post-dated four days after the charts are refreshed online.

Are astrology predictions false?

Astrology is a belief system that suggests a connection between astronomical phenomena and human events or personality descriptions. However, it has been criticized by the scientific community for lacking explanatory power and scientific testing has found no evidence to support its premises or effects. The most famous test, led by Shawn Carlson, concluded that natal astrology performed no better than chance. Astrology has not demonstrated its effectiveness in controlled studies and has no scientific validity, making it regarded as pseudoscience.

There is no proposed mechanism by which stars and planets’ positions and motions could affect people and events on Earth in the way astrologers claim, which contradicts well-understood aspects of biology and physics. Modern scientific inquiry into astrology focuses on the correlation between astrological traditions and the influence of seasonal birth in humans.

Which type of astrology chart is most accurate?

The Vedic chart is the most accurate, as it aligns the zodiac with the constellations using the sidereal zodiac, whereas the Western chart, created around 275 CE, uses the tropical zodiac, which was once considered to be accurate.

How accurate is the study of astrology?

Research shows no strong correlation between astrological signs and life outcomes, with studies showing that zodiac signs are not as effective as random numbers in predicting subjective well-being and quality of life. Confirmation bias, a psychological factor contributing to belief in astrology, is also a significant issue. Astrology believers often selectively remember predictions that turned out to be true, while not remembering those that turned out false. Another form of confirmation bias is the failure to distinguish between messages demonstrating special ability and those that do not.

How to calculate astrology chart?

Astrology. com offers free birth charts for individuals with specific information, while apps like Co-star, Reha, and Sanctuary provide detailed explanations. Planets, which can be one, a few, or none, are considered the seasoning of houses, ruling a zodiac sign that they enjoy. The sun represents ego, determination, and will, orbiting all signs of the zodiac in a calendar year. The moon changes signs every two and a half days, representing emotions, memories, and a sense of security.

It also shows how we nurture ourselves and can help find a relaxing way to decompress. By incorporating the moon’s placement in your chart, you can learn to embrace lunar phases and reduce stress by harmonizing with its rhythms. Overall, understanding your zodiac sign can provide valuable insights into your life and personal growth.

Does your astrology chart change?

Your birth chart, also known as a natal chart, remains unchanged due to the constant changes in your birth date, time, and location. How are astrology charts determined?

The “natal chart”, also known as the “natal chart”, is a map of the stars created using the exact date, time, and location of your birth to recreate a snapshot of the sky at your exact moment of arrival. This map is hyperspecific to you and provides personalized insight into your career, love life, friendships, and more. Astrology is more complex and can be more personal than horoscopes. Within the folds of this circular map, you’ll find all the planets and celestial objects tracked in astrology, along with the zodiac signs they were occupying. If you’re overwhelmed, it’s essential to learn about your astrological birth chart to gain a deeper understanding of your life and career.

How do you study astrology charts?

Astrology charts provide insight into a person’s personality and life path by analyzing the planets’ appearance in the house and under which sign. Planets represent what one does and what drives them, while signs represent how they accomplish tasks. Houses indicate areas of growth or change. For example, a Uranus in Aries in the fourth house represents learning and growth, while Aries is associated with ambition, passion, and strong emotions. The fourth house is associated with home, family, and property, suggesting a passion for personal relationships and emotional investment in family.

  • I’ve had 2 clients born on Daylight Saving’s time fall back right at the FALL BACK time. And yes, I had to rectify the chart on the spot and told the clients to write down the correct time on their birth certificates. The time where the life events match up to the Ascendant for the correct time. One client was born in Amsterdam in 1983, the other was born in New York in the early 50’s. I had a 3rd client born at the exact moment in the spring when we spring forward. She was born in the mid-80’s in Brussels. Both the spring and fall Daylight Saving’s event days should be considered the April Fool’s Day for Astrologers.

  • Thank You Chris for exploring this subject! Two astrologers calculated my chart in the 70s, and both came up with Libra rising, but these computer apps keep telling me it’s Virgo. … Both astrologers reached a point where they paused and made another calculation, then said “yep, 0 degrees Libra.” … I’ve checked out both, and I can surely say yep Libra rising 🙂 💜

  • Before perusal this, I never really calculated by hand, but learning how completely took my astrology to an entirely new level—also, figuring out when the date of a chart with only the chart was eye-opening and gave you so much more dimension in your practice. I can now better understand all the parts of a chart just at a glance. It also helps so much with memorizing the repeating cycles of transits. I started with sun sign books and cafe astrology in the early 2000s. I wish I were calculating charts to start because I would have been one of the greatest astrologers alive right by now. Every serious astrology course should start this way. I think starting with sun signs is misleading and kinda confusing for everyone.

  • Before I learned how to do charts, I had to pay $10-20 to have one done. Haven’t done one in years now, but I was just thinking about this the other day. So weird that many astrologers today have never done a chart by hand. When I was in my 20s, I bought several books, including an ephemeris, so I could calculate charts. In the mid 90s, my sister took a road trip to Cali and met a bunch of homeless people. She met a man who could draw charts *without any books*!! No tools, only info in his head. I double checked all his work and it was 💯 accurate. Some kind of savant, I guess, but incredible! Holy cow.

  • It’s interesting that organizations are removing the requirement to calculate charts by hand. If you only use apps or programs and have no idea what the programming is behind the chart generation, then honestly, you’re missing a lot of crucial information. Even if you don’t do it regularly, I view that as knowing basic math even though you have a calculator. You have to know the fundamentals even if you can take shortcuts to get to the end result.

  • I love this one. I got into astrology when I was a teenager from my Mom who would gather with a small group of her friends and they, together, would learn (modern) astrology. When I began seriously studying astrology with Adam Elenbaas she gave me all of her notebooks which had tons of beautiful, caligraphic hand written charts. I would love to learn that craft for sure. Heading over to Catherine’s course! Thank you! Love you three!

  • This actually is really relevant to me because I have a few family members (including my father) who are interested in having their charts read but understandably don’t want their personal information entered anywhere on the internet, so I will be doing them by hand. I mean idk how they’ve avoided that so far but I can certainly understand wanting to minimize putting your information out there where you’re able to

  • I still have the first chart I drew by hand (left hand 😂.. ) it’s James Dean’s chart, because at 14 I was so fond of him. I cherish that chart. Drawing by hand teaches you a lot, your brain and soul absorb everything, it’s more than a calculation, it’s a ritual, a form of deep meditation, you enter the psyche and the life of another person. You feel it during this slow process.

  • It’s like getting a Maine Guide’s license to work with people in the outdoors. They make you pass a test with a traditional map and compass. Everyone uses a GPS or a phone Map which shows you where you are at all times; but you still have to show mastery of a paper map/chart and use a hand held old fashioned compass. This kind of orientation used to be an art and skill. It is being lost – Very much the same discussion. You have to know the math involved with magnetic north vs true north and how the delineation changes around the globe. Then there is the moss growing on the south side of the tree 😉

  • Patrick hit it in his “why”… “having something that definitively proves that I was able to meet a certain standard of knowledge and that I’m accountable to a code of ethics”…and since it’s so fundamental and not all that hard, chart calculations by hand should most definitely be a requirement for the credentials of a professional organization behind your name if your goal is be a professional. ALL professional organizations have certifications…wedding planners, paralegals, marketers, and higher like doctors and lawyers. Even though I have to take the NCGR PAA Level-1 exam again, its’ worth it to me…let me know I wasn’t getting it all the way and I need more practice. I guess that is Saturn in my Pisces…hits my 3rd House of communication…I speak in parables and symbols…so yeah, Saturn is sending back to the “chart drawing board” lol

  • This was a good episode, I’m saving the latter portions for a point where I’d like to learn it IF I find myself in certain circumstances. From a non astrologer perspective, I’d suggest practicing astrologers learn it after hearing a good reason stated by Demetra George which I find would be true/useful. In my case, I only actually read charts (primarily) of people I know where it ends up just a dialogue that I joked is how I can get caught up in actually practicing. One was when Saturn entered pisces and a friend had a swarm of sudden problems asking “is there something happening in the universe right now?”. Very much for her, back to back Saturn profection years with a Saturn opposition. Humorously, a lot of 7th and 9th going on where her BF had her traveling Europe sort of against her will. If readings are that simple.. (insert obvious). But this is a person who’s chart I’ve looked at SO many times and it’s still very “2nd hand” where, if I did this manually, I’d probably feel more related to the chart individually even though this is a friend I’ve known most of my life. It sort of ties to a current topic that came from a synchronicity chain set off by a prior astro podcast episode; I wouldn’t necessarily stop there and contain astrological study to just astrology. If I was teaching a course I’d be including a book called Intellectuals and Society by Thomas Sowell and my students would be burning down the building at the same time. Joking, I’d be clear on exactly why. Chris has mentioned that astrology has moved from more conservative to liberal, I’d argue it may be a bit mixed historically, but the point would be that adding ideas into astrology can be extremely toxic and has repeatedly caused problems as all ideas do when they’re not empirical.

  • The conversation that starts around 1:07:17 is a fun one to think about because I don’t have a causal philosophy about planetary movements, I think they’re just omens. So if Pluto got nuked and thrown off course, I’d also just read that as an omen (a super not great one, but somehow pretty symbolically on point for Pluto lmao).

  • As a Virgo rising I feel like it’s not even a decision for me whether or not to dive into this :). I also really loved the house division episode, everything is explained so well in it, it really gave me good understanding on where do all these calculations actually come from. And it also helps with understanding why some astrologers recommend using different house systems for different purposes.

  • Great discussion! I think how to do it by hand is good to know, and I can see the value, but whether or not it should be required as part of certification is another matter. There are lots of skills we don’t use these days that people had in the past, because they didn’t have the technology. It doesn’t make you a ‘better’ astrologer in terms of being able to read a chart and be good at consulting. I think it should be there as an option in certification. Speaking of the requirements perhaps being too much from some organisations…one of the ISAR exams is 6 hours long!! I’ve done university degrees that were half that! Seems ridiculous to have an exam that long…it’s not like you’re going to be a surgeon…

  • Yeah, I’m really concerned about my credibility. I want to get a certification but can’t afford it atm. There’s socioeconomic and racial issues that can get in the way of a lot of communities in general. I’ve had people try to scam me and saw their cash app and had their real profile pic up. 🤦🏾‍♀️ It’s crazy to me cause I’ve been diving hard into the geometry. It’s really a passion. Social media consistency and engagement is all the credibility I can afford right now.

  • I’m a new student of astrology. Lately, I’ve been having lots of conflicting thoughts about astrology. In a way, it fascinates me everyday and I think it works. On the other hand, here are some contradictory points: Archetypes of Sun signs of people from the southern hemisphere, should they be flipped? Another point: Should every timing technique be synchronized with each other in terms of significant cycles in one’s life? For example, peak year in zodiacal releasing, but also progressed fool moon, or some major transit. Are we supposed to read the same information, no matter what technique we use? There’s a conflict in my head between the need for exactitude and the more simbolic or even magical component of astrology. Great article! Cheers.

  • Love it when Catherine and Patrick join the show. Astrology is so complicated with so many different house systems, different theories on the nodes, etc. I have been studying for 3-4 years and had no idea at first that there were so many different approaches. At some point, I decided whole sign/hellenistic was what resonated with me. I learned to understand my own chart/life. I understand how calculating the chart can be a test/certifiable. Astrology is just so vast and somewhat subjective…I don’t see how it could be effectively certified.

  • Hey, I’m new to astrology but I really am struggling as to where do I even start??? There is so much info and it tends to be overwhelming. Is there a good place that anyone would recommend to start for someone who knows absolutely nothing about astrology? I learn best with structure but I am on a bit of a budget so the NCGR course is a lot financially at the moment so if there’s any book recommendations or articles or even courses that aren’t 800 dollars?
