In Dungeons and Dragons 5th Edition, cold spells are a powerful tool for manipulating ice and the chilling embrace of winter. These spells can shape the battlefield and hinder enemies, unlike the destructiveness of fire spells or the direct force of lightning. Sorcerers have a stellar low-tier package of cold spells with Ice Knife, Rime’s Binding Ice, and Dragon’s Breath. Metamagic can open up builds to twin Frostbite to debilitate.
The first batch of spells are given when players reach level 35 and have quested to Mirkholm Keep in Grizzleheim. To activate the spell quest, visit Old Town in Wizard City and talk to Baldur Goldpaws. You create a shard of ice and fling it at one creature within range, making a ranged spell attack against the target. On a hit, the target takes 1d10 Piercing damage.

The first batch of spells is a control spell that puts out fires, makes people wet, creates fog, covers the ground in ice, and breaks concentration.
Ice magic is a special spell that allows the caster to shape ice and snow, fortify current ice-based spells, or control ice-related creatures within the game. It provides many subtle spells, such as a hail of rock-hard ice pounds to the ground in a 20-foot-radius, 40-foot-high cylinder centered on a point within range. Blast your enemies with sharp ice crystals and be sure that at least someone is going to take some damage with this 5th-level spell.

But out of all of Dungeons and Dragons 5e, there are only 536 spell and that simply is not enough for me. So, I decided to make …
I like Hailstorm over Fireball Sure Fireball does 4x the damage, but for Hailstorm the damage is guaranteed and a potential devestating effect on top. Stun is a really potent condition only topped by paralyzed on the other hand with the worst possible save, but the possibility to do this to multiple enemies I think 3rd level was the perfect call. Love your spells a lot^^
I like Permafrost! Do you have upcasting mechanics for it? Like do the chains get more hp? Hailstorm is better than fireball in my opinion. An aoe stun???? Yes, please! Glacial Surge sort of reminds me of some old cartoons of Iceman! I love the vibe of this. Does it have to be on the ground or could a caster make ramps with it? Frostmeld… sort of a cool 👀 moveable fog cloud. The effect doesn’t obscure your vision, right? I love the flavor of this. Could someone use it to fly if they move it vertically? Could they absorb others in it with upcasting? I actually think Frozen Prism could work as a level 2 spell. Level 3 certainly works though. I have a home brew spell I’ve used for a few years now. It’s sort of an elemental smite called Chromatic charge. Here’s the dndbeyond link: dndbeyond.com/spells/712721-chromatic-charge
