How To Arrange Wow Hunter Spells?

This guide provides information on spells and procs for Marksmanship Hunters in World of Warcraft — The War Within Season 1. It covers the best talent builds, how to execute proper rotation, and companion tools for Beast Mastery Hunters. Hunters have received some QoL changes that improve utility and survivability. Notable additions include Hunter Utility Spells and Aspects, which are different buffs that can be chosen by hunters.

The Beast Mastery Hunter Rotation Guide – The War Within 11.0.2 offers details on how to use the Spell and Pet Attack Macro for every offensive spell. A Stable Master is a special NPC who stores hunter pets while players aren’t using them. The guide also teaches how to minmax the abilities of your Hunter for single-target and AoE scenarios by setting the action button in your keybinds options and holding shift while pressing 1.

To optimize the rotation of your Beast Mastery Hunter in single-target and multiple-target situations, keep the following buttons on your bars: counter shot (interrupt), freezing trap, binding shot, intimidation (cc), and tranquilising shot (dispel). A complete searchable and filterable list of all Hunter Abilities in World of Warcraft: Classic is always up to date with the latest patch (1.15.4).

  • Why do none of the keybind guides mention gaming mice? I have a Logitech mouse with 12 side buttons. Literally all of my keybinds (I also use control and shift modifiers) are on the mouse. This leaves my left hand always free for movement, and I never have to stretch to hit an ability. Am I missing something?

  • In vanilla classic I had to use alt, control, and shift modifiers for all my binds and looking back it was kinda miserable. Shaman would oom super easily so it was important to have binds for your rank 1 shock spells which resulted in having a million binds on top of all the totems and everything else. 🎉

  • i have most comfortable keybinding for myself because i have small hands. I will share it in a moment but i watched this article because the turning left and right i use A and D in arena made me lose many time because i keep spamming backward which so predictable. . I have been playing for 13 years and A-D is turning for me instead of drafting left and right now i finally changed it. i use my right click mouse to turn. I use Q-E-R-T-F-C-V-G-H-Z -2 Mouse scroll up – Mouse scroll down- Middle Mouse. Other spells SHIFT + Q-E-R-T-F-C-V-G-H-Z -2 mouse scroll up – mouse scroll down middle mouse MORE SPELL CTRL + Q-E-R-T-F-C-V-G-H-Z -2 mouse scroll up – mouse scroll down middle mouse SHIFT + 2 is always shield for me or reduce damage with short CDS depending on class, and mouse scroll up is always healing depending on class with my mage it’s blizzard or ring of fire. mouse scroll down always touch of death or similar spell for other melee but for mage and other classes withs spell stealing ability or removing a benefit buff from enemy is mouse scroll down. on my dk is death grip. home this helps someone with small hands.

  • My only critique of the keybind tier list is that, to be more specific, you should bind your most used damage or heal to the keys most comfortable for your index finger. This is because your index finger has more dexterity and is less likely to get fatigues from frequent use.. it is also a faster finger. In my case, for example, my filler/spam abilities are on bound to “4” on ALL of my characters. Sbolt/Souldrain on aff? 4! Mutilate/BS on rogue? 4! Starsurge? 4!, Chaos Strike? 4! the most spammed ability should be on the finger that will last the longest and react the fastest.

  • I don’t know if this is mostly for pvp, since I’m never in pvp, so I don’t know if that’s where it’s most used. But know that I’m almost always at the top of dps and don’t use a single keybind. Uses arrow keys to move me and the mouse to click on abilities. And funnily enough I’m always the fastest (first) to move out of trash on the ground (in pve) Now we don’t have to make the game what it is, actually no need for all that keybind and 200 add’ons so the whole screen is plastered full so you can’t see anything

  • I’ve been lacking all these years with arena 1 2 3 macros. Although I do have partner macros for my ret paladin as shift and alt keys on the same buttons as for myself with bop, bof, sac, cleanse, wog, flash etc. I’ll try out that mouse wheel 1 2 3, but I also have a 12 button mouse that helps we with mostly cooldowns like stun, blind, kick, steed, bof, wog, wings, trinket, and mount. Just so many buttons…

  • I like using S and shift S for peel cuz walking backwards is slower for example on hunter I would have disengage on S and medallion on shift S, 12 button mmo mouse with shift as a modifier gives you 24 binds that don’t effect what direction you run. i also use z x c v for mounts buff etc. and F for emergency heal and Tab Q E and R for targeting. mouse wheel for mobility like blink.

  • Thanks Ezrael for the guidance! I developed a terrible habit many, many years ago of using bad keybinds. Primary was No. Lock #s, secondary was 1-9, using control modifiers to have extra…it’s as horrible as it sounds, but I got decent at it. I perform quite well with such a weird handicap, I look forward to seeing how much I improve by using real keybinds. 😂

  • nice article just some quick notes 1. adjust action bar layouts and size. most important cooldowns like Evasion, or Avenging wrath you should see without even looking, so place them front-center and maybe increase size so you always know when and if it is available. Abilities without CD like Mutilate or Arcane blast can be in the botom corner, 1mm x 1mm in size for all you care because they are always available. 2. if using mouse with aditional buttons like Razor Naga, adjust the shape of the action bar to match the shape of the layout on your mouse. My mouse has 4 rows in 3 lines, so if I adjust the action bar to it`s shape, i know what to press just by looking at it. This is really for the begginers, maybe for starting an alt, or if you just bought new mouse with new layout, …..before you just memorise what is where. 3. if making layout for new class, or maybe coming from different MMO, put similar abilities on keybinds you are used to. For instance i have Kick on “R” key, when i play paladin I put Rebuke on “R” key, when on Mage i put counterspell on “R” key…… and so on. “R” has been my kick button since tBC when i transitioned from beeing a noob and stoped mouseclicking my action bar and now my brain is hardwired to using it without thinking about it

  • If you want to pvp seriously (or do anything well unless you’re maybe a pve tank), move with asd only. Backpeddling is slower, useless, worse in every way, takes more mental ram than just moving forward all the time. Casting at what you’re running from? Strafe away from them, they’re still in your character’s fov on the left or right. W is an op keybind for abilities, removes the veritcal staggering of movement key and feels far superior once you are used to it. Dont knock it til you try it, a well guarded pro tip of high rated arena players.

  • Okay, so what about those of us that have been using the mouse to move for so many years that changing to WASD is NOT possible? My right hand is SO dominant that making this change is never going to happen. I use my left to cast spells and ccs, and I use my right hand to move my toons and whatever movement abilities I have depending on the class (Shimmer, Aspect of the Cheetah, Disengage, etc…) I have ALL the classes and I play quite a few of them in PVP.

  • Why on earth would you use your left hand to move AND cast spells?? That is so deconstructive. I only move with my mouse and use my left hand for the spells, also using the alt and command keys. I also use the middle button on the mouse and the left two buttons on the mouse. I use the mouse wheel button for instant spells like slows, scrolling forward. Very convenient. I don’t have to worry about moving my left hand to move the character. A bit silly imo. To jump, I use the space key (conveniently right next to the alt key). While I hit the space bar, I turn 180 degrees freely with my mouse to look around or cast spells. I’ve done this since vanilla and it works great for me. Jmo

  • WoW is far too complicated, which is why it’s dying a slow death. New players come in and get instantly overwhelmed. It needs to be simplified like FFXIV. However, there is a solution I found. I use a Corsair Scimitar MMO mouse. 1-12 on my right thumb gives me access to a LOT of possibilities. Open, Shift, Alt and Control modifiers gives me 48 keybinds without moving my hands into an awkward position.

  • i just subscribed! thank you so much for making this article, i try my hardest not to click but sometimes its just easier. i do want to start to learn about keybinds and get more use out of my mmo mouse. i play a bm hunter as my main so thankfully i don’t have too many buttons but i’m always ready to learn how to play more efficiently 😀

  • Very important keybind warning: 1. DO NOT make your Interact with Target bind the same key as your push to talk, especially if you’re a hunter. 2. DO NOT bind a healing ability to f4 if you use alt as a modifier. 3. DO NOT have prayer of healing bound in M+ because that means you’re playing a holy priest.

  • This all is complicated af. I have 1-6 and q-y. Everything else I click. The only thing I haven’t figured out is how to heal someone without targeting them. I just wanna be able to hover over their name and hit 1 while still targeting enemy to kick his casts. It seems the only way to do this is by doing macros. But I don’t use macros either. Too complicated

  • It’s funny how almost everything described in here is what I do with the exception of some of my situational key binds. I also think the number of abilities is a bit of an exaggeration considering I play 4-5 classes consistently and have most abilities bound. With regards to the situational key binds, I think that players can get away with not binding those keys as it would barely affect the player’s average performance. It really depends on the ability, but I’ll use my priest’s mind soothe ability as an example. I don’t use it in raids at the moment & I use it the odd time in mythic +. It’s not being used in combat & I’ve got plenty of time to find my target and spam click the button. I would literally see zero performance improvement by applying a bind to this key & it would just be one more key for me to remember. For my keybinds, I mainly use 1 through 5, and shift(or ctrl) 1 through 5. I attribute two binds to my shift/ctrl binds because I will often accidently select my ctrl instead of shift. This reduces the risk of accidently pressing the incorrect bind, resulting in me questioning why my abilities aren’t being cast. Other notable keys I use are F, Z, R, X, C & two extra mouse buttons. So in total, if I use the “shift/ctrl” alternatives for these spells, I have around 22 key binds. If I REALLY feel another keybind is necessary, I will use “alt” as a keybind for the very rare bind that is situational & I feel would benefit from having a bind included. On my DK, this would include macros I’ve written to have my pet change targets on fights like blood council where you want to focus damage on the boss you’re killing because the others are going to heal throughout the fight.

  • It cracks me up how people have all these macros, key binds, UI artifacts, boss timers, shout alerts, sound alerts, programmable devices, etc., as if this game was even hard. You can top the charts in M+ with one paging bar and the shift key–and have access to every skill, ability, bound item, etc. without having to resort to third-party mods, addons, and UI adjustments … the majority of which don’t even add anything but convenience for lazy people. I just have to laugh at some of the over-the-top UI setups I’ve seen over the years on YouTube. At some point, you just have to “dance”, you know .. almost by feel. All these buttons and alerts and do-dads and gizmos “playing the game for you” doesn’t help you get better at the game; in fact, relying on all that crap makes you much worse. The number of times we have had to wait for dip-shits in raid, because their mods are out of date, or they’re broken for some reason, and they’re too incompetent to do anything without them. It’s absurd overkill for a game as simple as WoW.
