  • Thank you for posting! I’ve been looking for a short in the wiring!…… When my mower shuts off it acts like it’s run out of fuel or the fuel solenoid is shutting off! I’m not getting any back fire or popping when it dies so I was convinced the solenoid was shutting off. But what you explained in your article makes sense. If the problem is in the fuel line I’ll be back to up date.

  • Thanks. I was going to pull out my fuel line in my John Deere Z-757 but was afraid I might break! I’m going to look into that connection. I have installed new plugs, new fuel filter and now a new fuel pump. Seems each step helped, for a while. Then it stopped after five minutes to an hour, just depends. (Note: I have a crankshaft oil leak, but plan on replacing yet this season.)

  • I have a pro turn 152 and it runs perfect when I’m using the right tank but when I switch to the left tank it’ll run for about 10 minutes and then slowly act like it’s running out of fuel until it dies. Checked that 90° piece and it was fine. Do you have any idea what else I should check since it only happens with the left tank? Also already drained the tank and put fresh gas in cause I initially thought some water might’ve been it. Forgot to add that I also swapped gas caps and it still shut off after about 10 minutes.

  • This is what I needed. It’s kind of tough to pull the fuel line off the 90 degree thing, but it’s all good now. I also zip tied my fuel filter to the seat spring so it doesn’t get so hot resting against the engine cooling fins. Thanks for the article, nice, clear instructions and good article showing everything!

  • I was chasing a rough when hot issue for a week. Replaced every filter, cleaned the carb, replaced and gapped the plugs, and changed the oil. Finally saw your article and was astonished to find no filter on the fuel pick up tube. It was clogged exactly where you said it would be and now its running like a top. Thank you!

  • Wow!! Thank you so much for the article!!! Ding Ding Ding!!! That’s what was wrong with my zero turn, too!!! It would run for about ten to 15 minutes then shut off like it’s starving for fuel. I could see it was getting fuel in the fuel filter so I figured it must be getting enough gas? But I still replaced the fuel filter and fuel pump. I even blew back through the fuel line into the tank but I’m guessing it wasn’t enough air and or it just clogged up again because the debris was still in the tank. I was looking for articles on how to rebuild the carb when I came across your article. I did what you showed in the article and took the fuel line apart then blew compressed air through the elbow and a bunch of stuff came out of it. Thank you again for showing us how to fix it!! Subscribed and liked!!
