This DIY Flying Butterfly Craft is a creative and memorable way to add a colorful accent to your next gift. The butterfly’s simple design uses nothing more than a rubber band, hair pin, and paper clip. To make the butterfly flutter its wings, grasp the bottom of the popsicle stick and gently wave it up and down until the wings are moving.
To make a fluttering paper butterfly, you will need a paper wings cut-out, metal wire (11-12cm), and a hollow plastic tube (cut out from a balloon stick, size 4-5cm). Hold one hidden in your closed hand and release for a magical effect. The butterfly will flutter 10 feet in the air.
This project can be made out of hats, books, or gift cards, and is great to use with the Coloring Book. The kit comes with five butterflies in. A fully 3D printed and rubber band-powered flying butterfly like the Magic Butterfly is designed to fit a 30mm long rubber band, making it much smaller (65mm wide x 60mm).
To make the paper butterfly fly around your room, take a magic butterfly and wind the top wings around 25 to 30 times. The rubber band will start to bunch up, but this is okay.
