To check the Magic Keyboard battery on an iPad, follow these steps:
- Open the Settings app on your iPad.
- Tap on “Bluetooth” and navigate to the Bluetooth settings.
- Find your Magic Keyboard in the list of connected devices.
- Check the battery level displayed next to your Magic Keyboard.
If you are using a black Magic Mouse with your 12.9″ iPad Pro, you can also check the battery level on the iPad Pro M4 or other models. To find out the battery percentage on the new Magic Keyboard for the iPad Pro (2018 and 2020), follow these steps:
- Check the Battery Status by clicking the Control Centre Icon in the menu bar, then click Bluetooth.
- Charge your iPad as usual by connecting your USB-C cable to the USB-C port on your iPad or the USB-C port on your iPhone.
- Check the keyboard’s remaining battery life by selecting System Preferences from the Apple menu and clicking Keyboard.
- If you are unsure how much charge is left, you can check the battery level at any time within macOS by clicking the Apple symbol () in the menu bar, top-left.
The iPad Magic Keyboard has no battery, so it does not need to be charged. You can connect a USB-C power cable to the power port on the Magic Keyboard. If you are using a Magic Keyboard with a trackpad for your iPad Pro, it uses the iPad to power it via the smart connector.
To keep an eye on the battery level, swipe down from the top of the screen, tap on Today Tab, and edit the button to add batteries to the Today Widget. The battery level for any connected Bluetooth device should show up in the iPadOS Battery Widget, including the Magic Keyboard.
