How To Get A Rocket Launcher For Terrible Omens?

Bad Omens is a legendary rocket launcher in Destiny 2, obtained from Gambit matches or rank-up packages from the Drifter. It is one of the best PVE DPS weapons and can be obtained through various methods, such as royal entries or the new void one. The Europa Rocket Launcher, which has the potential to roll with Ambitious Assassin and Chain Reaction, is also available for farming in Variks.

The only good Bad Omens roll is obtained from 2 Infamy Resets, which offers Impact Casing, Tracking Module, and more damage on direct hits. The weapon is optimized for explosive payloads and can lock onto targets when aiming down sights. To obtain Bad Omens, players can complete Gambit matches and earn rank-up packages from the Drifter.

Advanced stats and possible rolls for Bad Omens can be found in the game’s guide, which also provides information on PVE and PVP god rolls, perk pools, lore entries, and more. The weapon is optimized for an explosive payload and can be purchased as a god roll boost for a D2 guardian.

In addition to its various features, Bad Omens is also available in various rarities, ammo types, damage types, and introduced weapons in the season.

  • Hey Fallout, I had a Main Ingredient drop with Tap The Trigger. TTT doesn’t proc while the FR is charging, but when it fires. The increased accuracy and stability provided by TTT results in a much tighter bolt spread. This results in a low-recoil FR that can get kills outside of the usual FR range. I’m eager to find a god-rolled Main Ingredient and slap a counterbalance mod on there.

  • Thanks for this article. My Bad Omens came with Quick Launch, Implosion Rounds, Field Prep, and Cluster Bombs with a Blast Radius Master Work. After this article i appreciate this rocket launcher so much more. Thanks for the insight, i almost dismantled it over another Bad Omens with Tracking. I’m really glad i saw this article first! 🙂

  • I got this roll on mine, and it does the job well. Hard Launch High Velocity Rounds Tracking Module Cluster Bomb Masterwork: Handling Even though field prep is advised because (more ammo=more damage), I prefer tracking, because I’ve noticed on many occasions that strike bosses, and many other bosses tend to sway or move around randomly at times, and you just see your rockets fly by within an inch of them and detonate somewhere far behind and out of range of said boss, even though you might have aimed dead center of their body.

  • Another great evaluation of perks! I applaud the fact that you point out the counter-intuitive nature of some perks. Guardians may or may not agree with your choices, but everyone has their own play styles and you provide intelligent analyses of the perks backed up by data. Would you consider a side career in politics?

  • I just got lucky today. Had my first one drop, and it has hard launch/linear compensator, alloy casing/implosion rounds, and for the topper…tracking module with cluster bomb. This thing is a beast, and a blast to use in gambit. (Literally) Oh, and the masterwork? Velocity. This thing is maxed out!!

  • I was fortunate to receive a Cluster bomb/tracking Bad Omens fairly on in forsaken and have since curated most of my armor to have rocket reserves or scavenger. I recently got a Sleepless with field prep to drop, and even though it doesn’t have cluster bombs or tracking, I’m kind of addicted to having 9 rockets in my reserves now.

  • I know this is an older vid, so no dig at you Fallout, but IMO impact casing is better than implosion rounds. Impact casing also comes on the Zenobia-D, which IMO, IS better than Bad Omens for the simple fact that tracking is intrinsic, therefore, you can get field prep. My “Perfect for Everything” Zenobia-D God roll is: Quick Launch/Hard Launch Impact Casing Field Prep/Auto Loading Holster Cluster Bombs Reload/Handling/ Velocity MW (All MW options depend on what Barrell/3rd column perk combo you chose and which stat is most lacking) Like Fallout said, Velocity doesn’t matter all that much and in most encounters you aren’t trying to shoot rockets cross-map. This setup allows for the best possible utility Rocket Launcher, a “one size fits all” so to speak. Bad Omens comes in 2nd when you need Void instead of Arc.

  • The raison d’etre behind tracking is to deal with bosses that move. Not necessarily Fallen captains, but Taken, Vex, etc., who reposition themselves slightly. I would say that many people who use a rocket launcher as their main power weapon, already have 7-8 slots for ammo capacity. In Gambit, the challenge is stocking their launcher with that much ammo. Field Prep is nice but, I would still rather have Tracking.

  • I swapped back to using “Through fire and flood” grenade launcher, it melts bosses and has a quick reload. I have the Bad Omen with Cluster and tracking but the reload is annoying, the cluster bombs don’t do much damage due to being Void and overall it takes longer to kill a boss than my grenade launcher does.

  • Finally somebody else agrees with me on my god roll pve rockets, hard launch- field prep-cluster-implosion rounds and velocity masterwork is what I have on a bad omens and a sleepless with that but with impact casing both with a boss spec mod. Now for pvp I use my sleepless with tracking, impact casing and cluster with blast radius masterwork

  • So this article is 2 years old, but here’s my question. Which is a better roll for this rocket launcher, the curated roll the drifter is selling with impact casing(only way to get that perk) and high blast radius including blast radius masterwork, or a low blast radius, max velocity roll with tracking and cluster? This launcher will be used exclusively for boss damage.

  • My first bad omens came with Hard launch, high velocity rounds, tracking module, and cluster bombs with a handling masterwork. I love it and it does some dirty things! I agree that your proposed god roll would be more damage, but this one I have is flipping sweet and if I never get the roll you’ve shown then I honestly won’t be upset with the one I do have. Great vid! Keep it up.

  • I like tracking with low velocity so the rocket has time to steer.. Also it’s good against witches.. I would have liked proximity detonation from destiny 1.. I’m surprised there isn’t a single double rocket launcher or a single proximity rocket.. I often miss my rocket vs targets that just happen to move ever so slightly

  • This is decent but of course playstyle adds into it. I play on my own & with matchmaking, i cant gaurantee a teammate will use barricade or rift (yep hunter main, the neglected of the 3 classes), so field prep is excellent for fast reloads with more ammo, & a masterwork in reload speed is also a boost to dps. However alternatively, i dont use rockets for high dps anymore as there have been for a long time now many better options, i do still use them though & on them kill clip is a great perk for things like Gambit where the boss is surrounded by weaker enemies. Shoot the boss for damage, killing the weaker enemies nearby from splash damage activates kill clip, next rocket has 50% more damage & kills nearby yellow bars that didnt die from the first rocket, repeat. Or you could use a spike grenades on a drum grenade launcher for a lot higher dps butttt im just rambling

  • I got tracking and kill clip on mine. I dont really use kill clip but having tracking and high velocity make it a beast for invaders or invading. I was hoping kill clip would boost the damage enough to kill a guardian in their super but it’s not. Might help if the guardian is already hurt but I’m definitely going for cluster bombs or the curated roll. Great vid. Bad omens is my fav pvp launcher right now even though its geared more towards pve

  • Am I the only one that has the Zenobia D? I have 2 Zenobias exactly the same.- intrinsic tracking rockets, cluster bombs, rangefinder, impact casing, and an increased velocity perk to the far left with a reload masterwork. I got 1 of them the 2nd day of Forsaken and the other the 3rd day from the gunsmith. Any thoughts?

  • Shut up, the Stability stat is actually super important, the recoil pattern is atrocious on controller and nearly uncontrollable. I demand that you make a new god roll article, where you can get Rapid Hit and Zen Moment on the Bad Omens to control that recoil. I also believe that Outlaw on the Bad Omens is a god roll.
