How To Obtain The Valheim Magic Runestone?

Epic Loot is a mod that adds loot drops, magic items, and enchanting to Valheim, similar to Diablo or other RPGs. It offers 102 runes and a magic skill, providing utility that complements the base game and makes use of little resources. Runestones are large rocks with red runes written on them, containing lore and useful tips about certain creatures. Animals also spawn close to their stone.

To unlock and craft magic items in Valheim, players must sacrifice boss trophies and sack Ekithyr trophies. The only way to gain this resource is by Tier 1 boss farming and sacking Ekithyr trophies. To add recipes for runestones, go to the bottom of the recipes.json file.

Unlocking runes involves extracting runic energy from each runestone, which can be found in each biome. However, it’s up to the player to locate them specifically in their own game. Magic runestones are not currently available in Valheim, but they can be found in the Vegvisir, which shows boss locations and marks the closest location of the relevant boss on the player’s world map.

Chests, such as Nexus and Zodiac, can be bought from Haldor (Trader) Chests. Epic Loot is a popular mod for adding loot drops, magic items, and enchanting to Valheim, making it easier to find and craft unique non-combat spells and effects.

  • 19:40 “…. no, really ? … no, no .. REALLY ?? Are you kidding me ?” 😆 That said, you got lucky, I had a map where i went through 17 mountains, before I got my “vegviser” (travel marker / waypoint) … that was painful. And then the marker was halfway across the world, by the time I reached Moder, I had maxed out my wolf armor and weaponry, including the Draugrfang.

  • Steve, why didn’t you make the iron bow? It’s called the “huntsman’s bow” and it’s made at the forge. Fully upgraded, it does 10 more damage than fully upgraded “fine bow”. I tend to prefer it over “dragaur fang” because I think Guck is a pain to collect. Unless you have a good method for collecting Guck? If you do, please share. lol

  • I know Im late to the party as Im on Xbox Windows Store version but Ive been to 6 mountains and not a single tower. I have seen two round structures with staircases but no runestones as yet. Can the towers be low down on the mountain or are they normally high up where the drakes/obsidian are (100m+)?

  • Been messing around with this mod myself for about the last week. So far it’s been awesome and the only suggestion I’d make to the developer is to limit some of the item rolls to specific armor pieces. For example, you can roll +health (up to +50) on every piece of armor if you’re lucky enough, but that meant I was running around with 150+ hp before I even ate any food and with the best food and more health rolled on a shield, I had 500hp and the damn health bar was 60% of the way up my screen lol it was a bit much. Also there’s a chance you can roll a movement speed increase on leggings. I spawned in a pair of legs with +56% movement speed (I’ve seen higher rolls than this) which has to be a troll lol my character literally died from running so fast and bouncing off the terrain into the air and falling to his death 😩

  • I’ve used it my last two playthroughs. It makes it much more interesting for multiple playthroughs and makes drops more fun. Also allows you to play the game differently. Like you said the items have extra buffs on them and you can do less of the tedious mining of copper and iron by looting what you need instead. Also yes the higher mobs and bosses drop the purples yellows and greens

  • looks pretty awesome, but to be honest.. what mob or boss is gonna stand his ground against this kinda gear? i’m already slaughtering plainsmobs easily with not even fully upgraded silver gear. i love the game, but at its current state, theres no competition in lategame. shits too easy and mobs AI is too bad haha. they’re so predictable 🙁 still.. cool mod. im digging it. thanks for promoting this, cheers

  • I’m interested in mods, and mod related articles. So keep them coming. Maybe there will be some RLHeim in the future. Specificly about this mod, I do like the idea of beeing able, to enchant weapons, using some recource system. Using the trophies, which you can farm but mostly have no purpose, seems a good idea, too. But I do not like, that you get weapons, tools, shields and armor from mobs. Especially finding them from boars and uncivilized mobs, like greydwarves, seems off. Finding them in some rare chests might be ok. But I think it would fit the game best, if you just would be able the enchant selfmade equipment.

  • Magicitem magic Bow 1 = spawns me 1 Club of magic rarity … Magicitem magic Club 1 = spawns me 1 Club on magic rarity … wtf Wanted to test out of epic loot was worked on a new install, spawned in a bow to test and got a club, spawn in a club to test and get a club. HOW THE F*** DO I SPAWN A BOW? lol

  • i know im late but id still like to point out some things about epic loot, this is such an amazing mod, im having a blast with it, and i used to be a “mod hater” once.. only problem im having is with the balancing, im currently using expert mod(every mob 2 star even bosses) and hardcore mod. and even then its too easy imo(ill try creature level mod next, it seems a lot more customizable) some enchantments are way too game breaking like water walk for example, it should either be removed completely, nerfed to not work in oceans or make it super rare like unique legendary pants or something trader is kinda op, i havent enchanted a single item yet, buying is 100x easier you can buy legendary items basically for free, just some coins and gold totems from bounties, i got the unique legendary sledge hammer(mjolnir) and became a god, and its an iron tier weapon.. like you dont even need to kill the elder, you can try to find an oozer to get 1 iron and unlock recipes, mjolnir hammer is bugged tho, if you throw it in fuling village houses it might disappear(i think it has something to do with structures we cant break) im also not sure if mobs from spawners should drop loot like normal mobs.. you can sit on a draugr spawner for an hour and get a bunch of epic and some legendaries man i really wish that more ppl were playing valheim but the game is so dead right now..

  • If you want to stand out among the 1000s of new Valheim websites on youtube, try to keep the simple topics under 10 minutes. I would expect at least 2-3 mods could be comprehensively covered within 10 minutes. Understanding the mods before making the article would also be good, vs asking the viewer to teach you about what you’re presenting in the comments below. Not trying to discourage you btw. You have a voice/presence/character about yourself that could lend itself very well to a website becoming successful. I just think the overall effort could use a bump. Hopefully this is taken purely as constructive feedback 🙂 Topic: great. Presentation: nice, although a bit bumbling (oddly endearing actually). Knowledge: fair…ish. Time: wayyyy too long. Summary: better than average, but a bit more prep could take it much higher! 🙂

  • Kind of a pointless mod if you have to increase the games difficulty to offset the mod that makes your character more powerful. The whole point of this is to make mobs drop colour coded items. If you make the game harder to suit it, you may as well stay with the original build. I kinda like the way the progression is now. It seems more natural than colour codiing it to make it WoW or Diablo.

  • I’d definitely be interested in seeing more mods showcased. I’ve only been playing Valheim for a little over a hundred hours and am already bored with it. Eat, sleep, grind for materials, grind for materials, grind for materials, grind for materials, grind for materials, build something, fight, repeat. That seems to be mostly what Valheim is. It’d be nice to add some variety to the game.
