Is Pokémon based on demons?

Pokémon, a popular video game, is not demonic or evil, and its creator, Satoshi Tajiri, has never claimed that the franchise is anti-Christian or satanic. An interview with Tajiri in 2012, which allegedly described Pokémon as the antithesis of Christianity and supported Satanism, was false and did not provide any evidence on his motivations behind creating the franchise. The article, originally posted on the Play4Real website, was a joke and not meant to be taken seriously, but many people took it at face value and used it as a tool to spiritually condemn Pokémon.

Are there witches in Pokémon?

Lily, a character from Hocus Pokemon, is a magician who enlists Ash and his companions to devise a spell that enables humans to comprehend the verbal expressions of Pokémon. However, as a result of her actions, she inadvertently transforms Ash into a Pikachu. In the English-language version of the anime series, the character Lily is voiced with a Cockney accent.

Is Pokémon based on magic?

The Pokémon and Magic franchises were initially developed by Wizards of the Coast as a platform for younger audiences to explore the world of card games. As the franchises matured, they transitioned from their original format to Magic: The Gathering, which was better suited to the interests and capabilities of older players.

What Pokémon is based on Jesus?

Pidgeot, a Pokemon named after Jesus, is a reference to Twitch Plays Pokemon and the unassuming Pidgey who saved the run on numerous occasions. Pidgey’s numerous feats, such as beating Erika’s ace Bulbusaur with just 19 HP remaining and dodging five Stomps from Giovanni’s Rhydon, are worthy of its namesake. Bird Jesus performed the most selfless act in a Pokemon playthrough, letting itself faint to hit Blue’s Blastoise with multiple Sand Attacks so that Zapdos could take it down.

Zapdos has various religious nicknames, including Battery Jesus, John the Zaptist, the Archangel, and Anarchy Jesus. Brambleghast represents Jesus’ crown of thorns, and although most trainers wouldn’t want to be reminded of that time, Jesus knows it wasn’t Brambleghast’s fault that it was laid atop his bonce in his final moments.

Are Pokémon based on gods?

Hydreigon, a Pokemon, is based on evil multi-headed creatures from various mythologies, including the well-known Hydra, which was slain by Hercules. However, Hydreigon takes its inspiration from Yamata No Orochi, a legendary Japanese serpent that was powerful enough to force earthly deities to sacrifice their daughters. Eventually, it was slain by the Shinto storm god Susanoo. Hydreigon’s shiny form is based on the Zmei Gorynych, a cunning Russian dragon with heads in the multiples of three. This godly inspiration extends beyond Legendary Pokemon and includes other Pokemon that have derived their genesis from deities like Arceus.

What religion is Pokémon based on?

Pokémon, a popular video game and trading card since its 1996 debut, holds significant cultural significance for Japanese fans due to its strong connection to the Shinto faith, an ancient Japanese pantheistic religion deeply rooted in the natural world. Shinto practitioners believe humans coexist with supernatural beings called kami, who possess various animalistic, ghoulish, and inanimate forms.

Can Christians get ash?

Ash Wednesday is a significant religious holiday in Western Christianity, where Christians receive ashes on their foreheads or heads as a sign of repentance in biblical times. The practice, which involves placing ashes on their heads and accompanied by the words “Repent, and believe in the Gospel” or the dictum “Remember that you are dust, and to dust you shall return”, is observed by numerous denominations within Western Christianity. These include Latin Church Catholics, Protestants like Lutherans, Anglicans, some Baptists, many Methodists, the Evangelical Covenant Church, and some Mennonites.

The Moravian Church and Metropolitan Community Churches also observe Ash Wednesday. United Protestant churches like the Church of North India, the United Church of Christ (USA), and United Church of Canada also honor Ash Wednesday. Some Independent Catholics and the Community of Christ also observe it.

Is Pokémon ok for Christians?

Those who espouse the beliefs of Pokémon are known to engage in practices that are analogous to those of sorcerers, necromancers, mediums, psychics, spirit hunters, and shamans. These practices are explicitly proscribed in both the Old and New Testaments of the Bible, as well as in the historical records of the Church.

Who is Pokémon based on?

The Pokémon franchise is set in a world where humans coexist with creatures known as Pokémon. As of January 2024, 1, 025 Pokémon species have been introduced, with most inspired by real-world animals or mythical creatures. The player character plays the role of a Pokémon Trainer, who has three primary goals: travel and explore the Pokémon world, discover and catch each Pokémon species to complete their Pokédex, and train a team of up to six Pokémon at a time for battles.

Poké Balls are used to catch Pokémon, which are transformed into energy and transported into the device. Once successful, the Pokémon is tamed and under the Trainer’s command. The Trainer’s Pokémon can engage in battles against opposing Pokémon, including those in the wild or owned by other Trainers. These battles are never overtly violent and contain no blood or gore.

Poké Pokémon never die in battle, but they faint upon being defeated and can be rejuvenated at a Poké Center. When a Pokémon wins a battle, it gains experience points, which level up and its statistics rise. As its level increases, the Pokémon learns new offensive and defensive moves. Many species can undergo a form of spontaneous metamorphosis called Pokémon evolution, and transform into stronger forms.

The main idea behind Pokémon was conceived by Satoshi Tajiri, born on August 28, 1965, in Machida, Tokyo. He grew up in Machida, Tokyo, and was fascinated by the 1932 film Freaks. Tajiri self-published the first issue of Game Freak in 1983, inspired by the film, and later became a respected game journalist in Japan’s fledgling video game industry.

What religion is Ash?

Ash Wednesday, celebrated 46 days before Easter Sunday, is a Jewish tradition involving penance and fasting. It involves wearing ashes on the head, symbolizing the dust from which God created us. The priest applies the ashes to a person’s forehead, urging them to remember their dust and return to it. The priest may also encourage them to repent and believe in the Gospel. Ash also symbolizes grief caused by sin and division from God.

What is the story behind Pokémon?

Satoshi Tajiri, an avid enthusiast from an early age, developed the concept for Pocket Monsters (Pokémon) in the early 1990s. His interest in entomology was inspired by his affinity for insects, which led him to be affectionately dubbed “Dr. Bug” by his acquaintances. Subsequently, the game was presented to Nintendo. The inspiration for Pokémon can be traced back to his childhood experiences exploring forests and discovering various insects.

  • I was brought up in a very Pentecostal Hispanic household and Pokémon was completely out of the question, like many other things like Harry Potter, goosebumps, smurfs, ect. I cannot be happy enough for my parents showing me the way to holiness. I understand what you said about quitting wether you feel that conviction or not, but I have noticed that as I walk closer in step with the Holy Spirit, he asks me to give up worldly passions and desires. I have heard the voice of the Holy Spirit actually say to me years a ago to get rid of my article games and to stop playing Hearthtsone. These games all have roots in satanism, neocramancy, paganism, occultism, ect. They all have some connection with real live demonic battles that witches and wizards have with each other. They fight using demons that they allow in their bodies to literally kill soemone else that also has demons. They do this until one person is left alive. Then they acquire the demons of the dead person so they are more powerful. This sounds quite a lot like what happens in Pokémon, hearthstone, magic the gathering, and many other RPG games. I’m so happy that the Holy Spirit has given me the gift of knowledge beyond what most people can ever have. Some Christians have even been angry at me and disagreeing with me about my personal testimonies and my walk with God as I tell them about avoiding these games and every temptation the media has to offfer. You see, I have been through way too much suffering and I am just way too thankful for Jesus Christ saving me to allow a simple demonic game to destroy my relationship with Him.

  • There are things you do in article games that you don’t do in real life and vice versa. I’m a Christian and I play pokemon and occasionally pathfinder (it’s basically dungeons and dragons) We play games, we shouldn’t live them. If you have trouble recognizing the difference between the two, stay away from them. Otherwise, just play them, don’t live them.

  • I watched Pokemon as a kid and liked it a lot. Along the years, I started collecting Pokemon cards and playing some of the Pokemon games. I liked Pokemon until…a few people & a few family members mentioned that Pokemon was EVIL. I can’t even play or enjoy Pokemon around them to be honest. I know Pokemon is just for fun and its fantasy but they don’t seem to understand. Since I was a kid, I knew that Pokemon isn’t real. Some Pokemon are creepy, but I just catch and keep the cute ones. I’m not addicted to Pokemon, I just like playing it when I have time. I do make time for God & God is always #1.

  • I’ve heard a lot Christians talk about how bad pokemon is but none of them can seem to give any real provable examples of it causing harm. I head someone call Pokemon “Micheal Vick The Game” once but I’ve never heard of anyone getting into dog or cock fighting because of Pokemon because most people can distinguish reality from fiction.

  • I appreciate this article.Me and the rest of my family are Christians, and years ago my mom stopped letting us watch pokemon.About a month or two ago,i started playing Pokemon Go and beginning Pokemon X.Personally,I see nothing wrong playing, but I limit myself to only catch the ones that are cute or animal-like,since I know there are spirit ones.Currently my parents don’t know I play, but if and when they do,I’ll explain my thoughts on it.

  • Been playing pokemon for years i dont see it as evil at all i see a trainer caring for pokemon ??? And wanting to better everyone around him/her theres a team rocket and even they show passion but the only thing i can honestly see bad is being overly obsessive with pokemon cards for Money 💰 dont overspend

  • “6 And do not lead astray one of the weak and friendless who believes in Me. If you do, it would be better for you to be dragged down with a millstone and drowned in the bottom of the sea.” Matthew 18:6 – Using Paul’s words “everything is permissible…” is out of context, he was referring to foods…not magic and sorcery.

  • I struggled with whether or not Pokemon was demonic for many years. I grew up with it, and always loved it growing up, and even got back into it as an adult. Like with most, no one who told me it was demonic could ever give me a good reason as to WHY and HOW. However, I’ve come to realize that it is in fact demonic. The roots and symbolism found in Pokemon are in fact occultic, and what sealed the deal for me was coming to the understanding that a lot of the Pokemon creatures are based on Japanese Yokai, which are supernatural entities in Japanese folklore, as well as Egyptian deities, and deities from many other religions, etc.. I think that should say enough, but to drive my point further, I’ve seen countless testimonies of people who came out of other religions that worshiped these deities and are now born again believers in Christ. Most of them will tell you how demons manifested to them, and the cause was their involvement of these deities that were actually demons in disguise. With that said, to own anything physically or even digitally Pokemon related will most likely come with a demon because of the spirits inspired behind the Pokemon, thereby being an accursed item, which the Bible warns about. Scripture also warns us against our association with spirits, witchcraft, and necromancy. Pokemon is heavily involved in all of this. And to those saying, “Oh, I’ve never seen a demon manifest or harass me since I started playing Pokemon, so therefore this guy just doesn’t know what he’s talking about.

  • I grew up with this my mom thought I was to old at one point t and had to get rid of them wish I hadn’t but I bought a friend’s binder full for 5 bucks lol I think the show has many good moments and teachable moments. Darkrai was cool to me growing up I thought the name was cool and it’s design is cool and everyone chased Charizard cards and come on the way ash gets charmander and that connection is awsome

  • Eh personally I used to like Pokemon but then I felt weird playing it and the game sounds like familiar spirits so I got scared. I only like the pokemon that aren’t demonic and look normal. EDIT: The more I thought about it, they seemed more like earthly creatures and not spiritual ones, but I’ve been messed up by legalism concerning pokemon. It makes me feel insane.

  • I saw a ex-witch doctor say they were demons but Idk if the accusations are true because they seem to hated it already. I used to like it as a kid so I want to protect my childhood from those type of people but Idk if they’re lying or not. (I did my research and I can’t seem to find whether they are)

  • I think most articlegames are fine. As long as your not doing anything that goes against god then it is ok to have fun. I like to view pokemon as an over exaggeration of life, yes, there are demons and evil things, but most aren’t. There are demons and evil in our life aswell. Whenever i play a pokemon game I love to avoid using any sort of demonic pokemon and just treat it as going on an adventure with animals. I check wether a pokemon is meant to be a demon or not before using them and most aren’t. Pokemon can be a fun adventure, just don’t give into the temptation of demons, dont get addicted, and remember its fiction, not fact.

  • It’s witchcraft and as a Christian, we should not partake of darkness in all forms! No lukewarm activity unless you want darkness coming into your life! Portals for demons and monsters he spiritual realm is more real than our dust bag bodies!! Beware!!! Burn those occult items and stop the power of Satan in your house!! Submit to God and be safe! I cast unclean spirits out of people every other day and they come in with permissions from seemingly in things things like tv violence, language, card games, tarot cards, crystals, yoga and Pokémon cards!! Consider yourself warned!!!!

  • Idk how I feel but I like Pokémon my mom says if you knew what I knew about it you wouldn’t like it but she doesn’t tell me (I think she gets confused and thinks all anime are Pokémon too because one time I was perusal into the spiderverse when then anime art styled character came up she was like “what Pokémon?” Me and my brother laughed at that though because we know what anime is also I feel like it’s fine but my mom doesn’t I don’t want to disobey but she isn’t telling me what’s so bad and we watch marvel movies which in one of the newest movies (minor spoiler) the main villain says “There is no god so I stepped in” but she pointed that out and I also (yet I can still watch marvel movies and we still have a Disney+ subscription too) was like in my head “huh why was that there” (also the people who worked for him starting aiming guns at him too which I liked that they did that I’m just looking for what she says she knows but I don’t but I’m the one who plays the games and has a one of the books with all the Pokémon and none of the things have a connection to satan besides magic but I think it’s just unexplained so it’s just called magic so if anyone can help please with this please do

  • you are the first person to quote the bible when I saw this…i might quit cause its time consuming…but i saw other articles with mtg and they showed cards with no explanation. They wanted me to jump to conclusion and this is the first i am hearing all this. A lot of the so called explanations felt stretched. Like in MTG there are Angels etc. So i dunno.

  • Ha my mom found my pokemon collection and it was my good collection that was good for battles and where worth some good money the thing I hated was she didn’t tell me she threw them away so my mom basically threw away over 200 dollars of pokemon value cuz I have some care cards that where expensive and she threw them away but am started over hahahhahah my mother will never know

  • Here’s what I say Just like a lot of things, there are things that Christians should get into, can get into, can’t get into and absolutely avoid. There are things we can get into and can’t get into, and some things we don’t mess with. Here’s a few examples:I’m into DOOM and Harry Potter. DOOM does help me with my faith but Harry Potter books and movies I take as simply fiction and entertainment. The actual deed of witchcraft and wizardry is wrong, but this is the fictionalized version of it Something you can’t get into, an example would be the game Outlast:it’s completely satanic and blasphemous So, for me, despite a few things, Pokémon is okay to play, just be aware of certain things of it

  • Hey everyone! I’m a kid and I’m not allowed to play Pokémon. My parents always told me it was bad and I agree with that fully. Even if I had the choice to play or not I would never play it ever! Because I’m pretty sure as Christian we are supposed to stay away from all evil. The game literally has witchcraft in it and Christian parents are letting their kids play this? And doesn’t 1 Thessalonians 5:22-24 say to stay away from the appearance of evil? Well yes it does. So if you don’t agree with me comment here and tell me why on earth a Christian would play witchcraft games? It’s pretty much the complete opposite of what Jesus wants us to do. He wants us to do good things like read the bible, pray and go to church and all that stuff. Just tell me do you think Jesus would play a demonic game like Pokémon? No! I don’t think so but you tell me.

  • As an influencer U will be judged more strictly (James 3:1). U are influencing with ur opinion that TOTALLY OPPOSES THE BIBLE. Wizards created this game based on demonic Shinto religion thats about serving demons & using their power, & Pokemon characters are the animated versions of those demons.”Lev 19:31 – Regard not them that have familiar spirits, neither seek after wizards, to be defiled by them”. So you’ve publicly declared that God’s truth is optional & ýou’ve offered an alternate opposing opinion. THATS SERIOUSLY SCAREY. “Consult God’s instruction & the testimony of warning. If anyone does not speak according to this word, they have no light of dawn.”(Isa 8:20). “The nations you will dispossess listen to those who practice sorcery or divination. But as for you, the LORD your God has not permitted you to do so.”(Deut 18:14). Theres tons of scriptures also making it crystal clear wizards etc deserve death & are an abomination cos they serve satan & lead others to do the same. but I just offered 2 scriptures making clear to consider NOTHING from wizards. U are stumbling parents & children alike to participate with cute looking animated demons – YES these ARE real demons that satan wants the children to love & rely on to get demonic supernatural power instead of relying on God, & THAT’S CLEARLY A STRATEGY FROM THE PIT OF HELL AGAINST OUR CHILDREN.

  • YES very good for your children and your soul here some of it! Bewear: This immensely dangerous Pokémon possesses overwhelming physical strength. This Pokémon has the habit of hugging its companions. Many Trainers have left this world after their spines were squashed by its hug. Froslass: When it finds humans or Pokémon it likes, it freezes them and takes them to its chilly den, where they become decorations. The soul of a woman lost on a snowy mountain possessed an icicle, becoming this Pokémon The food it most relishes is the souls of men. After a woman met her end on a snowy mountain, her regrets lingered on. From them, this Pokémon was born. Its favorite food is frozen souls. It’s said that on nights of terrible blizzards, it comes down to human settlements. If you hear it knocking at your door, do not open it! It freezes hikers who have come to climb snowy mountains and carries them back to its home. It only goes after men it thinks are handsome. Banette: A doll that became a Pokémon over its grudge from being junked. It seeks the child that disowned it. It’s a stuffed toy that was thrown away and became possessed, ever searching for the one who threw it away so it can exact its revenge. Resentment at being cast off made it spring into being. Some say that treating it well will satisfy it, and it will once more become a stuffed toy. Extraordinary energy amplifies its cursing power to such an extent that it can’t help but curse its own Trainer. Phantump: According to old tales, these Pokémon are stumps possessed by the spirits of children who died while lost in the forest.

  • If you study the Childhood of Jesus Christ, there was no game playing in His life, as a follower of Jesus Christ train your kids to be busy doing the work of God eg,studying the scripture, meditating on the scripture, go out preach the gospel and visit the orphanage, visit the sick .Run away from self pleasure, but seeking to do things that pleases the Lord Jesus. This guy just preached his opinion by using the verse wrongly.

  • I say there some Pokémon base on yo Kai would that be same as playing with ghost same goes with ghost type Pokémon and yugioh there magic cult symbols and so on it almost like playing with ouija bored then to my eyes this coming someone name there YouTube website yugioh5222 before saw it different way in tell now

  • We ALL fall short of the glory of God because we are sinners deserving of eternal punishment in hell because sin is so serious (it’s the cause of all pain, death, and suffering). And that’s why Jesus willingly died on the cross for all our sins and rose from the dead three days later! That we may have eternal life with Him if we repent (to turn away from our sinful life and turn to Jesus Christ the Lord our God) and trust in Him (that He will save us ONLY because of what He did on the cross, we are saved by grace through faith)!!! And don’t wait because either because you do not know when you will die (just really think about that, you have NO CLUE when you will die! it’s could be tonight in your sleep or even in the NEXT HOUR!) That’s why God is calling you RIGHT NOW today to receive the gift of salvation!!!

  • Listen to what he sings at the end while hugging his cat statue but it would be a graven image if it was a saint statue being venerated to remind ONE of the life they have to live as a Christian….suffering to be closer to christ …..none of the apostles lived lives singing pokemon the power that is inside….nope the holy spirit was inside!!!! When we as Christians look like the world, act like the world etc how will people of the world accept the true Christian message nope they will believe in cheap grace and continue to be like the world just calling themselves with their mouths christians

  • Hello Brother, this is where I would have to respectfully disagree. I know Pokémon is nostalgic and brings us all back to our childhoods. But if you are enjoying something in the flesh; the flesh is not going to condemn itself. Pokémon translates to “Pocket Monster” and obviously monster can stand for demon or evil spirit. I just don’t want my brother in Christ to loose sight in what’s important in life and that Jesus Christ.

  • This dude literally has a cult symbolism in his article in his home that cat represents Egyptian goddesses they used to worship cats and look at the photo behind it with the skull of that animal which is typically seen as an occult symbol I wouldn’t be taking advice of if Christians should watch Pokemon or play Pokemon or not from this guy.

  • You Should NOT rip that Biblevers out of context my friend. That’s not permissible. Your opinion is not relevant, the word of God in CONTEXT is relevant. Iff you are a born again Christian you will read the whole story, and I in courage you to do so! Gott bless you my friend! Here it is: „All things are lawful (that is, morally legitimate, permissible), but not all things are beneficial or advantageous. All things are lawful, but not all things are constructive (to character) and edifying (to spiritual life).” ‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭10‬:‭23‬ ‭AMP‬‬ So now you need to read Back in order to get the context: „Consider the people of Israel; are those who eat the sacrifices not partners of the altar (united in their worship of the same God)? (Indeed they are.) What do I mean then? That a thing offered to idols is anything (special or changed simply because it is offered), or that an idol is anything? On the contrary, the things which the Gentiles (pagans) sacrifice, they sacrifice to demons (in effect), and not to God; and I do not want you to become partners with demons (by eating at feasts in pagan temples). You cannot drink (both) the Lord’s cup and the cup of demons. You cannot share in both the Lord’s table and the table of demons (thereby becoming partners with them). Do we (really) provoke the Lord to jealousy (when we eat food sacrificed to handmade “gods” at pagan feasts)? Are we (spiritually) stronger than He? (Certainly not! He knows that the idols are nothing. But we deeply offend Him.

  • Pokemon has dark magic(and magic in general) by your own admission but somehow it’s okay for Christians? That makes you a hypocrite. “Iudge not according to the appearance, but iudge righteous iudgement.” John 7:24 “Abstaine from all appearance of euill.” 1 Thessalonians 5:22 these are from the 1611 KJV (the real KJV) and not catholic phoney 1769 KJV you find all over the place.

  • I played it for 2 years die hard. The game pogo. I wanted to be the very best… and I got a lot of issues with other players. I normally have no issues with people. It was a first sign. Later on I met a guy played with him a lot and he begun stalking me for a year! Also in the game. I got ptss by his stalking. People fellow Christians warned me but I did not see the harm. Ok there is a magic component and a dark side but I looked at the normal things. But really I watched the film’s the cartoons and there are some weird occultism in the film’s. Still it did not stop me from playing but the shit I got and that God was not with me anymore made me believe after 2 years that pokemon is not a harmful game. It is occult. And thereby all the time I gave on pokemon I lost precious time to do things which matter… being with family and give time to God. Seriously I ran out of church to be on time for comdays! And was more in my head there than God’s word. It has given me loads of shit. What is by experience not blessed is my conclusion it’s not what God wants. This is my opinion. Time. God’s wants it all and didn’t want me to play every day a stupid game. And yes I loved it I had to stop because of the stalking and other things. God let me see it is not a game to play for a Christian. Fun fact I met no fellow Christians in those two years.
