Is Black Magic Voodoo Real?

Voodoo, a sensationalized pop-culture caricature of voudon, an Afro-Caribbean religion that originated in Haiti, is not about black magic or curses. Instead, Voodoo practitioners distinguish between “white” and “black” magic, with the former being more complex. Haitian Vodou involves community rituals, dances, singing, and offerings to connect with the spirit.

Black magic has traditionally referred to the use of supernatural powers or magic for evil and selfish purposes. The links and interaction between black people in various parts of the world can cause serious illness or death when subjected to sorcery or black magic. Voodoo (voudou) has been criticized for its association with black magic, which has been linked to the death of men.

No modern scientist believes that Voodoo, as magic, can kill someone. Instead, the current theory is that the Voodoo curse, or hex, causes such harm. Many believe they perform black magic, using rituals similar to voodoo and casting spells and incantations to bring harm. However, they are not just self-centered.
