Greta Thunberg, a climate activist, has been the subject of numerous conspiracy theories and misinformation. Her family includes her parents, sister, and grandfather, all involved in theater. Thunberg’s mother is an opera singer and actress, her sister is a singer, and her father is an author, actor, and producer. When Thunberg was young, she pressured her parents to support her.
However, there is no evidence that Thunberg is related to the Rothschild banking dynasty, contrary to social media posts targeting her with baseless claims. A 120-year-old photo with a girl resembling Thunberg surfaced, and conspiracy theorists are now calling her “a time traveler sent to save us”.
Social media users have been sharing a photograph online that appears to show philanthropist George Soros with climate activist Greta Thunberg. Thunberg has been arrested several times for her participation in environmental protests around the world and fined by Swedish courts. The German Marshall Fund’s Digital Innovation and Democracy Initiative worked with MediaCloud to examine misinformation and disinformation related to the climate activist.
Thunberg has been the target of a flood of online abuse and scores of misinformation and conspiracy theories. She has been accused of lying, hate, and bullying, and has been targeted by politicians to bring about desired outcomes.
In an interview with Greta Thunberg, it is discussed how conspiracy theories have been made about her and her family, and how they are true.
📹 Gravitas: Greta Thunberg: Activist Or Imposter?
Greta Thunberg Has Emerged As The Face Of Climate Activism. But Several World Leaders Question Her Motives Greta …
📹 The rise of Greta Thunberg explained
How did a 15-year-old protesting outside the Swedish parliament build a global movement in under a year? Greta Thunberg is a …
Once i met a man in india- He’s planting one plant every day in rainy season like four months for 20 year’s. He says 20 years back when he’s at political party speech where he heard of climate change and tree planting can cure it. Just after that one day, he continuously planting trees. My point is that he jusy need one explanation to start this thing. . Action express priorities.
Putin raised very good questions. He is a pragmatic man. Swedish people are not under poverty. Years and years they have exploited the natural resources now they cry about it, that is hypocrisy. Now when others are developing and willing to live a comfortable life, so everyone starts remembering the nature. Sweden has not seen poverty and hunger, How would Greta Thunberg understand what’s it’s like to be Hungry and not having food. She wants that developing countries to quit their development and starts growing trees so that she can live properly. Wow! She is just a face and the motive is somebody’s else who thought that nobody will question a teenage kid and everybody will fall in line for her. Well nice try. Development is the only key to survive, if any developed nation has a problem so be it. It’s our era now. You put the hole in the ship of ecology, it’s your fault, we are not responsible. We are already aware and doing it much for it way before you developed countries had put a thought about it. Don’t lecture us. Start doing your share. Lecturing won’t help. Specially at UN.
Did she even bothered to plant a tree and take care of it, before jumping on a platform and slamming France, Germany or any other country?? She’s out there taking notes on a apple product, while people in developing country only eye these things as a luxury not a necessity, how can she say that the world as a whole has to deal with climate change, when her own country is one of the worst perpetrator in this case!?!
One crisp winter morning in Sweden, a cute little girl named The Angry Beaver woke up to a perfect world, one where there were no petroleum products ruining the earth. She tossed aside her cotton sheet and wool blanket and stepped out onto a dirt floor covered with willow bark that had been pulverized with rocks. “What’s this?” she asked. “Pulverized willow bark,” replied her fairy godmother. “What happened to the carpet?” she asked. “The carpet was nylon, which is made from butadiene and hydrogen cyanide, both made from petroleum,” came the response. The Angry Beaver smiled, acknowledging that adjustments are necessary to save the planet, and moved to the sink to brush her teeth where instead of a toothbrush, she found a willow, mangled on one end to expose wood fibre bristles. “Your old toothbrush?” noted her godmother, “Also nylon.” “Where’s the water?” asked The Angry Beaver “Down the road in the canal,” replied her godmother, ‘Just make sure you avoid water with cholera in it” “Why’s there no running water?” The Angry Beaver asked, becoming a little peevish. “Well,” said her godmother, who happened to teach engineering at MIT, “Where do we begin?” There followed a long monologue about how sink valves need elastomer seats and how copper pipes contain copper, which has to be mined and how it’s impossible to make all-electric earth-moving equipment with no gear lubrication or tires and how ore has to be smelted to a make metal, and that’s tough to do with only electricity as a source of heat, and even if you use only electricity, the wires need insulation, which is petroleum-based, and though most of Sweden’s energy is produced in an environmentally friendly way because of hydro and nuclear, if you do a mass and energy balance around the whole system, you still need lots of petroleum products like lubricants and nylon and rubber for tires and asphalt for filling potholes and wax and iPhone plastic and elastic to hold your underwear up while operating a copper smelting furnace and .
The fact that people are obsessing about her is just sick. When I was her age I was also passionately concerned about problems in our world and used my platform at the time to talk about it (back then there was no internet, so my platform was my speech class and competitions, and letter writing to elected officials). Why can’t the adults just leave her alone!
In India 🇮🇳: A man named Jadav ‘Molai’ Payeng from the state of Assam has created 1,360 acres of forest, which is now home to many animal species. The guy is also known as “Forest man of India” There are several people like him in India & other countries who are fighting climate change but “Without Drama & PR”. Thats how it should be done.
Absolutely right, she is hyped and marketed very well. Many Indian kids have done better work, but they have never boasted or raised their voice in a dramatic way to make a point. I have a data of Indian students who have done several MUN conferences highlighting global warming and environmental issues and won awards, including my own kids . Hope they too are celebrated .
I prefer green options and am an individual in this regard but do not tour the world to appear at climate summits and rallies to voice my opinion on the matter. It is good to see green activist companies choosing to use a teenage actress to voice the concerns of people worried for the state of their coastlines, their soil quality, drinking water and all round good health of their biological networks. It takes many ingredients to prepare a dependable formula for people firstly to appreciate then adopt into their spending habits, especially with regards to fuelling and dietary requirements. A strong healthy voice is always a necessary component part to such a sought after equation.
Just like Malala, the world further inclines to hypocrites. As palki stated, it is only awareness we need to gather and work toward providing a better future for the generations to come. But, people such as Malala and Greta, one being a hypocrite and other a puppet are not to be taken serious. Let’s help build a better sustainable world.
Greta barks to everyone, “how dare you” as she and her entourage fly the world in private jets, receives gifts like a Tesla vehicle and gets whatever she demands from others. Why doesn’t anyone tell her to take responsibility for her carbon footprint. Some of her followers would immediately shout out, “C’mon man….she is just a kid” yeah exactly my point, just a kid.
Her heart is in the right place but I think she has been perusal too many movies! Playing the anger victim has never been a very effective way of convincing people in power to embark on your adventure. And I really don’t give a sh…..t what Putin thinks. Specially coming from a man who is not use to facing opposition that he cannot easily eliminate at will.
I’m conservative but 100% support Greta. Just because someone is conservative, it doesn’t mean that we all ignore the FACT that climate change is real. In 22 years of living in Vancouver, we have never experienced temps above 35C. Last summer was 43C and this summer we are expecting same or worse. That’s NOT normal. Co2 is how earth managed to become alive as CO2 from volcanic eruptions, heated the atmosphere and melted miles of thick ice. Co2 does heat up the atmosphere and there’s not a soul on earth that can prove that millions of vehicles, ships, etc are not causing issues. Greta means well and is more educated that 99% of adults in this world. You may not like it but it’s a fact.
One thing is certain these ‘adults’ have no interest in making the necessary changes. Why don’t the wealthy countries assist the poorer ones not to follow the destructive path they have followed. This would show that they are really committed to climate action. Instead of acting in the interests of the fossi fuel and mining industries etc in order to line their own pockets!
She’s a face of this movement until the media is entertaining her. She’ll fall into the background soon enough. I was so personally shook by Malala Yousafzai’s story back in the day and felt personally ashamed that I did not have an ounce of the courage or clarity she had and her emotions regarding educating women was so powerful. Until I saw recently, what happened in Afghanistan must’ve shaken her too. But there was little to no engagement from her or her team (probably it wasn’t trendy enough for Twitter). We are making little girls faces for movements that need to happen but then falls back into history never to be heard from again. The whole scenario is distasteful. Is this what we need to show a mirror to world leaders? I cannot say anything about that, this must go on until an alternative emerges i suppose. But maybe she must not forget that she’s being entertained while this media attention lasts. A little bit of self-awareness on the part of people who so boldly claim to be activists would be really refreshing. And also recognising that anyone’s activism means very little if we do not get goverments and policies behind those movements. That’s what changes things so let’s not swim in this attention whoring, ugh. The government runs its own shitshow this is just a new facet of the same perpetuating cycle. Do the work people. Do the work.
Well in my culture, watering plants on the new year and doing plantation on your birthday is a ritual. I plant more than 100 trees on my every birthday and same with every person of my culture but no one gives us a noble prize. Oh wait it’s for immatures😁😁 In India there are many such festivals. We even celebrate the menstruation of the mother Earth. To get noble prize, you have to be either a hypocrite or a westerner.
There were times when I thought Greta was a little too strident. Sometimes some people shut their ears when they are being shouted at. But I believe we can foster a worldwide high standard of living without endangering the climate. Maybe a good first step would be for all the world’s major powers, especially the U.S., to cut their defense spending by 80% and put that money towards creating green infrastructure. I believe the situation is urgent enough that that kind of action is needed. I’d like to hear Greta say something about the need to cut worldwide defense spending.
Highlights a few aspects:- Grownups get triggered when kids take action and accountability and even show us the mirror. We prefer to remain stuck rather than take real hard look and accountability for our congregation. Let the future leaders take charge if the present and the past leaders/ generation is not willing to take up and stand for the call, that’s much needed. probably time to step down from the leadership role or take accountable measures for the same.
I don’t think anyone argues that green energy is the way we’ll go in the future. But for developing countries & northern climates, fossil fuel is the only “barely affordable” option at this point in time. Sad truth is most people in northern climates (Canada) will go back to burning wood and deforestation will raise over the next decade as fuel prices rise!
She is definitely not an imposter. She is a kid activist. However, kids ought to know they are kids and reality is what… everything and nothing. All should appreciate her passion to save the globe but she got to go to school and learn first more about the globe. With the exception of Greta, the worst threat to climate are climate activists, amnesty International and its affiliates in the Human Right Industry.
Vilification of a teenager is shameful. She’s a youth being youthful. Media made her a symbol because she showed dedication and the courage of her convictions, in her long, quiet protest, and since. (So rare.) Get real, and don’t look for perfection from a kid. Just let her be. (Comment to those who do it like a Putin, who would talk smack about a kid. Does any of his barbarism really surprise anyone anymore? Don’t mimic it.)
It was teenagers afraid for their future that finally resulted in the end of the Vietnam war. KIDS marched in the streets and demonstrated, because it was ADULTS who were sending these kids (like a young ME) to the other side of the world to die. So enough about questioning a teenagers motivations….it’s the teenagers who will face the worst of the climate crisis, not the adults who caused it!
I saw a article of someone who took a picture of her car(how old do you have to be?), and they took pictures of the inside of the car. It was littered with fast food containers, wrappers, plastic water bottles and was a filthy mess. How is she different from the leaders who do one thing themselves, tell off everyone else? She feeds off hate and disdain.
Thank you for that. I believe that the closing statement really does say all that really needs to be said as the true focal point of any such discussion regarding the sorry state of deceit and of the obvious dumbing-down of the Earth’s populace over the last twenty years in particular, when it comes to this incredible threat that is so much more than a simple existential issue to be bandied about, denied and consequently ignored in the same conundrum of inaction it has always largely remained in!
A Passion for a better lifestyle for fresh air see it as that..an activist for this better movement can be any age, this is their home too. How is india 🇮🇳 taking notes on this, at least for a fresh air? Last time when I visited the gates of the enormous Taj Mahal, the Taj Mahal was hidden behind the thick pollution.
I know this is old, but growing up in the early 2000s I watched Nat Geo, Animal Planet etc and so I am a bit older than Greta. But because of the TV I was perusal I had similar school speeches. We werent really taught it at school at that stage – we learnt about weather and patterns/systems but not CC. I got that from the TV. But it wasnt entrenched since at school no one cared or said anything. I was able to grow out of it. Today kids are pushed on it at School, Home, TV/media, Politics, Companies, its everywhere so they have no chance to get much of a different opinion to challenge them like many school subjects. For example it took me 15+ years of schooling/academics before I even thought about questioning evolution and thats because I am entirely out of the system. We are so easily manipulated.
Her expressions indeed are too dramatic .It’s really shameful that people around the world think they humans are being a threat to planet earth .The earth has survived so much, been through so much in the past 4.5 billion years and here is some kid trying to feel self important .Humans have nothing better to do but create new jobs in this new sector “Climate change”
Has anyone seen a full speech from her? Actually laying out the facts of climate change? I can tell you this, if the truth is on your side, you don’t need all this emotion and harsh words to supplement your stance. I have yet to see her actually bring something solid to the table. unless ppl only cut and paste clips they want to show. can someone show me the full speech? lol
Personally, I’m more worried about all the plastic in the ocean. Seems like a far more realistic problem. I don’t see them talking about that much with all those signs. In fact, the signs don’t really say anything intelligent or thoughtful at all for the most part. Perhaps some helpful advice or quotes would give the movement more credibility other than just saying, “climate change is bad!!” and “it’s all your fault, fix it!! 😡”. Climate change just seems like a reason to enforce a new tax, which is probably the only reason the government cares about it. I’m not sure how that’s going to fix things…
So they sampled the words from several of Greta’s speeches and compared them with the writing styles of her mother from some book she wrote. They found that the sentence structures used by her mother are almost exact to those in her speeches. This is actually an extreamly common occurrence that is found in many children’s school homework assignments.
if i had a nobelist grandpa, a famous opera singer mother, and a famous actor dad, and i would live in a country that could provide me a really good future at any time ( i mean, i can have work and and i caan held house and health care), then it would be extreme easy for me too, to give up on school and do nothing in my life and call me ativist. It is so easy! It is all about money. simple eveyday rule of out mdern society.
It’s really wonderful that Greta Thunberg cares about the environment, but the manner in which she puts across her points is not helpful at all … She needs to find a more effective way to communicate and put across actual points and talk about solutions rather than showing her anger to the world leaders
Yall focus on the wrong point, her message is true, climate change is really happening and yall are still clowning and personally attacking her instead of finding ways on how yall can be productive and useful than sitting on your bed all day and bashing a girl who didn’t do anything to yall and is actually doing us a favor. Well…
So these governments will stop their wars and the excessive waste and pollution that many of them are responsible for or will they use this concern to raise taxes and perform token gestures. Never been to a government department that didn’t consume more power than a small business and no warzone was ever carbon neutral. But bless their concerns. Unfortunately they are going to be subverted and status quo shall roll on.
In 1989 I bought an environmental group’s map – showing the coastline of England and Wales in the year 2019 – 30 years on from ’89. My city centre was underwater. 30 years later and the sea is still over fifty miles away. Greta should not be encouraged. We should all do whatever we can for the environment, and facts – FACTS – must be debated and acted on. This is simply scare tactics and there is no scientific consensus behind it – there really isn’t – despite all the screaming and bellowing and attempts to shut people down. It’s hysteria and very controlling. This particular strand of ludicrous behaviour – motivated by so-called human made global warming – has been going on since at least the 1980s. With the date of disaster being moved along to suit each time it doesn’t happen.
I couldn’t get to work because of her. And the future is amazing, people are already acting. Scientists have genetically modified plants to clean water and soil. The renewable energy department has grown. And so much more is happening, even before Greta blocked the roads which could have blocked ambulances, police officers, fire fighters and people from getting to work.
UP Foresters are doing this and the government of the Philippines was saying that we are an activists and we’re fighting against government. Funny how they are so proud of other people from other countries promoting the protection of mother nature but degrading their own people asking for the same issue.
Around 41-52 seconds in;We have been listening to the science, they’re people not just scientists who have actually done something about it. Not just talk about it. Also, we do small stuff each day and it will make a huge difference down the road. That’s going to take some time. It’s not an instant thing. It will add up.
I want to tell her trollers that dont ask her about when she will go to india or china .. This is not her job alone ..she initiated the revolution and we have to think about environment.. She is just 16yrs old and did a great job..people like us only knows trolling.. We should blame leaders like trump modi and xi and not to her.. Plzz guys listen her voice.. And don’t troll her..
Whys no one pointing out that her parents are worth over 350 million own a yacht worth 1.7 million thats why they don’t fly she was payed 88,000 for her first speech and she charges on average 30.000 when she turns up to big events she does not need to go to school as she will live of her rich family
Does anyone still remember the days, when ACTIVISTS were defined as people DOING something to solve a problem instead of demanding it to be solved? Today, a large portion of the population believes it to be a good strategy for the upcoming generation to cut on 1/5th of school education to go demonstrate their will that something is done about their problems, whilst by doing so sacrifycing the necessary abilitiy to actually solve those problems this same generation will have to face. or in greta’s words of self-fullfilling prophecy: “Why should we study for a future, that is beeing taken away from us?”
Asperger and OCD is one side of the imbalance. The second is her mom is an acclaimed opera singer, who is obviously coaching her in speech performance and drama. Her message is true, but not new and the world is acting. However we can’t stop the world turning. She needs to go home to school. The climate debate is getting lost in the debate about her, as a phenomenon.
Can little Greta explain why her ancestors Leif Erickson and Erik the Red sailed to a warm Greenland, built settlements, and grazed animals in the lush pastures that were over there at that time frame? There were no SUV’s back in the 1100s. What caused the medieval warming period back then? Can she answer that question? How much greenhouse gases were Leif Erickson’s cattle in Greenland farting out back then anyway? And what caused the “Little Ice Age” in the 1500’s? What caused the rivers in Europe, (including the Danube), to freeze over? Why did the settlements in Greenland die out after a century or two? Is it time for Greta to say goodbye to Uncle George Soros and his mind control agents? Should she stop scolding her elders and show some respect for a change? Should she go back to learn her lessons in a legitimate school somewhere, perhaps online, and get a real education?
Is the climate changing?! Are we at fault?! Is there anything i should be doing about it?! I would literally have to go to grad school for environmental science and then take my own measurements to get a not biast idea. And i still probably wouldnt know! If we cant find any common ground politically we will never get anything done 😫.
