Lyme disease, caused by the Borrelia burgdorferi bacterium, is not an ideal bioweapon due to its low mortality rate and potential for long-onset serious illness. In 1981, the condition was named Lyme disease. A conspiracy theory spread that researchers at Plum Island spread Lyme disease, but Lyme disease experts have argued that this theory is scientifically unsound. The U.S. had a biological weapon program, and some people claim Lyme disease was introduced into the northeastern region of the U.S. after a strain of Borrelia.
The U.S. House of Representatives has voted to order the Department of Defense to disclose if the Pentagon developed ticks as biological weapons, which later escaped or were unleashed. The mainstream “origin story” of Lyme disease in the U.S. goes that it was first afflicted in the 1970s in Lyme, Connecticut. A lawmaker who wants the Pentagon to investigate whether military biological weapons experiments with ticks cause Lyme disease insists he is not spreading conspiracy theories. Some tick-spread bacteria could be weaponized, but this would be a useless choice.
The VANMaN model provides social scientists with a framework for understanding and addressing fraudulent health claims. The Plum Island Animal Disease Center (PIADC) is a U.S. federal research facility dedicated to studying foreign animal diseases of livestock. Two theories on the origins of COVID-19 have been widely circulating in China and the West, one blaming the United States and the other a highest-ranking Dalai Lama. No one is immune to, and there is no cure for, tickborne diseases, and just one tick bite can destroy…

The Dept. of Defense was ordered to look through archives and find any proof Cold War-era scientists inserted Lyme Disease into …
I grew up 20 miles from Lyme, CT. I spent my whole childhood playing outside and in the woods. As a kid I remember many ticks, all of which were the same kind. Large with a gold ring around the head, and they blew up like balloons if you didn’t fond them right away. In 1998 I was in high school and my health teacher, who was also my ski instructor, came down with Lyme disease which was my first time hearing about it. After I graduated I he asked me to help him run the ski club because he couldn’t ski or keep up with the kids because his health has declined so much. Since then Lyme became a prominent part of my life. I caught it myself around 2005 while being careful. The antibiotics screwed up my digestive tract for a decade. My dog died from lyme. I worked for the town of East Haddam, including the hamlet of Had-Lyme. Every home owner I spoke to had a lot of experience with lyme. One lady, an ex school teacher, said she has had 17 bulls-eye tick bites over the years, and her daughter more. She had taken so many antibiotics she could no longer be around children because her immune system was so weak. People who had pets, including horses have nightmarish problems. All of this and you never hear of any advancement in treatments. Yet last year they aerial sprayed for triple E mosquitos. Something is certainly fishy about this whole thing. These ticks did not exist 30 or so years ago. Now this region is infested.
The first diagnosis of Lyme in Minnesota was in 1980. The 4th diagnosis was in 1985. I was a teenager mowing lawns in a neighborhood in SW Rochester Minnesota and I got a bullseye rash on my right upper arm between 1982 and 1984. I had lots of symptoms which made Doctors scratch their heads. I knew something was wrong with me but for many years gave up on getting the answer. My mom found a genius Doctor who diagnosed a lot of things that I had possibly back to childhood, and finally in 2013 I got a diagnosis for Lyme. Treatments had to be delayed because of the strong herx reaction. Lyme demensia hit me middle of March 2015 so I went back on antibiotics in April 2015. Without a diagnosis I would be dead by now. The news story was incorrect in one point because Lyme disease does kill people. Lyme can reach the point that no antibiotic or other treatment will do anything. The ending of dying from Lyme disease can make the person completely disabled and unable to care for themselves.
As someone in the uk who was hospitalised from Lyme disease and left with damaged neurological pathways, I want answers. I highly doubt anyone will ever admit to Lyme being used as a military weapon. Plum Island is responsible for hundreds of thousands of people suffering worldwide. In order to be able to get out of bed and walk, I need several medications. My neurological pathways were attacked and caused permanent damage. I was a very active person and enjoyed archery, horse riding, hiking, yoga and now I struggle to walk. The pentagon owe us answers and compensation.
It’s sad that they have to make into a crackpot conspiracy theory and yet are simply unable to get a real answer. It’s lame. Either say you are promoting the book or do some real journalism so you aren’t unnecessarily freaking people out. It’s not a improbable theory and it absolutely has historical precedent.
This is such low grade reporting with a delivery that’s so comical I thought I was perusal a SNL skit. Here’s a name for you, Erich Traub. Didn’t hear it mentioned once. People, do your own research and don’t rely on clowns like this. They’re only interested in entertainment value of a subject, not any of the real pain and suffering that has been caused.
It is as old as history they do it then deny it for those who have the disease and came across this encouraged everyone to sue the hell out of every doctor that has misdiagnosed you I’ve never seen a cuter and all the years I’ve had to deal with it which has left me crippled but good luck I hope someone does
Considering how corrupt the pharmaceutical companies are and the motives seem to be pretty lucrative my first suspect wouldn’t necessarily be the military and I wouldn’t assume they are “death machines” rather to make people sick with the threat of the disease being a lifelong affliction. It seems like a perfect storm for a pharmaceutical company to make lots of money over the course of that persons life (not saying I believe this at all, it just seems like a more logical explanation especially with the financial motives, what would the military get other then potentially putting military age men at risk? Especially with their outdoor training and activities it seems counter productive to their interests)
Im from Connecticut,i grew up in Newtown during the 1980s. The only ticks we saw back then were Big Wood ticks, never deer ticks, and we never got sick, not until around 2016 when i ended up homeless for a couple yrs,was bitten by deer ticks Everyday in Connecticut forests, had Lyme the whole time i was homeless, its a terrible illness, and the antibiotics they give uou can make you Extremes Sick as well, causing stomach ulcers abd a host of other issues .. As far as im concerned its a perfect weapon, everyone’s afraid to go into the woods now, naking us easier to control…. Once youve had it you’ll understand. Be very careful,it screws you up psychologically as well,a little tid-bit they Always fail to mention,it Can make a person go Stark Raving Crazy…
