The New Rite of Episcopal Consecration, promulgated by Pope Paul VI in 1968, is unquestionably valid, although some argue it is deficient for other reasons. The rite is radically different from the traditional Latin form and is only similar but not identical to the forms used in the Eastern Rites. Although the new rite is valid, it is not without its challenges.
Some writers have examined the new rite of episcopal consecration and concluded that it must be invalid. However, the New Rite of Episcopal Consecration (in use in the Latin Church since 1969) is in itself valid, albeit problematic for other reasons. The SSPV, a part of the SSPV, believe that the 1968 rite of ordination is invalid due to the deletion of certain statements made during the ordination prayers. The new rite ordinations are valid, without question in the Latin form of the 1990 revision by John Paul II.
The New Rite of Episcopal Consecration is valid as long as three things are required for a valid ordination: matter, form, and intention of the minister. There is no prima facie evidence that the new rite Bishop has any power to Ordain and thereby pass on the powers of the priesthood, even if the Rite for Ordination is valid.
In conclusion, the New Rite of Episcopal Consecration is unquestionably valid, although some argue that it is deficient for other reasons. The rite is valid, and the Roman Catholic Church continues to practice the traditional Mass. However, there are concerns about the validity of the new rite and the potential for further debates and revisions in the future.

Is the Episcopal Church dying out?
The Episcopal Church is experiencing a gradual decline in membership, with baptized members dropping below 1. 6 million in 2022, down 21 from 2013. Average Sunday attendance also dropped, dropping 43 to 373, 000 in 2022, despite a 19-percent increase from the pandemic-driven low of 313, 000 in 2021. Despite these declines, churchwide plate and pledge income remained unchanged at $1. 3 billion from 2018 to 2022.
The parochial report included narrative questions, asking congregations to elaborate on their experiences and identify points of hope for the future, as summarized in an analysis by Taylor Hartson, a sociologist at the University of Notre Dame.
Who Cannot be ordained?
The Catholic Church, as stated by Pope John Paul II in his apostolic letter Ordinatio Sacerdotalis, has no authority to ordain women for priestly ordination. This is due to the example of Christ choosing his apostles from among men, the Church’s consistent practice of choosing only men, and the Church’s living teaching authority, which consistently believes that the exclusion of women from the priesthood is in accordance with God’s plan for the Church. Therefore, the Church has no authority to ordain women for priestly ordination.
What denomination is Episcopal closest to?
The Episcopal Church (TEC), also known as the Protestant Episcopal Church in the United States of America (PECUSA), is a member of the Anglican Communion and is divided into nine provinces. It is a mainline Protestant denomination, displaying a cross throughout gules and nine cross-crosslets in the saltire of the field. The church has established additional dioceses in other countries.
Is it okay for a Catholic to officiate a wedding?
If a non-Catholic couple, without any impediments, and a Catholic is authorized by the state to officiate at civil wedding ceremonies, a Catholic can preside. However, they cannot obtain “ordination” from a mail-order or online mill, even if their state recognizes marriages performed by individuals who have obtained such “ordinations”. This means that a Catholic cannot preside at a civil wedding ceremony if they have obtained such “ordinations”.
Is the new rite of episcopal consecration valid?
This study addresses a debate in traditional Catholic circles regarding the validity of the new rite of episcopal consecration. Some authors contend that it is invalid, whereas this study reaches the conclusion that it is valid. Furthermore, it addresses the question of whether priests who adhere to the traditionalist approach should undergo a reordination ceremony. The objective of this study is to address the increasing awareness of this issue.
Is the SSPX valid but illicit?
The Society of St. Pius X priests offer valid but illicit Masses, contrary to Canon Law. However, the Sacraments of Penance and Matrimony require the priest to have proper delegation or enjoy the faculties of the diocese. Legionary of Christ Father Edward McNamara, professor of liturgy and sacramental theology, answered a question about the status of Catholics attending the Society of Saint Pius X Mass.
He mentioned that recent popes have relaxed rules, and Catholics may now attend the Mass and receive Communion. The question was asked by a British Columbian who was previously unsure if they were allowed to attend the Mass.
Is ordination required to be a pastor?
Ordnance is a requirement for many denominations for specific ministry types, such as parish ministry and administration of sacraments. It can also be beneficial in other career choices like chaplaincy, faith-rooted organizing, or practitioner-based academia. Union supports the ordination process through its curriculum, field education, and affiliations with denominations and organizations. The following section provides an overview of the ordination process for several denominations and traditions, along with links to their websites.
The document includes overviews of the ordination process and requirements for the Christian Church, Episcopal Church, Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, Presbyterian Church (USA), United Church of Christ, and United Methodist Church.
Does the Catholic Church recognize SSPX?
Lefebvre, an excommunicated person, died in 1991. In 2008, the four surviving SSPX bishops acknowledged the Holy Father’s supreme authority and expressed suffering. In 2009, the Congregation for Bishops remitted the excommunication, acknowledging the Pope’s authority over the Church. Pope Benedict XVI stated that the SSPX has no canonical status in the Catholic Church for doctrinal reasons and that SSPX ministers do not legitimately exercise any ministry.
Despite the remission, the SSPX bishops and priests are still unable to exercise episcopal or priestly ministry in the Catholic Church. A suspension a divinis affects SSPX clergy who have been ordained to the priesthood illegitimately, as per canon 1383 of the 1983 Code of Canon Law.
Is it against Catholic religion to get ordained?
Seeking ordination outside the Catholic Church contradicts the Church’s teachings on valid ordination and sacraments, as they are closely connected and often rely on the priest or deacon’s ministry. Catholics are bound to the laws of the Church and must maintain union with it through the profession of faith, sacraments, and ecclesiastical governance. Receiving ordination in another church or faith community would involve entering into communion with another church or religious society, and breaking communion with the Catholic Church. However, if a Catholic has sought ordination or officiated at a wedding outside the Church without understanding the gravity, reconciliation can be achieved.
In a society that values religious traditions, the increase of internet ordinations is not surprising. Virtual “ordination” does not take the discernment and preparation necessary for ordained service seriously and may imitate or mock legitimately-conferred Holy Orders. Catholics are called to witness to the life-giving graces of the sacraments as instituted by Christ and conferred by the Church, and should decline a request to be “ordained”.
Are SSPX priests validly ordained?
The priests of the SSPX are considered to have been validly ordained; however, the question of legitimacy is particularly pertinent in the context of Roman Catholics receiving Holy Communion.
Can you preach without being ordained?
Some Christian denominations, such as Baptist and nondenominational churches, do not require ordination for those who wish to serve in a pastoral capacity. Furthermore, some of these denominations do not require those seeking ordination to have completed a seminary education.

Applying what you said: Are priests in the Institute of Christ the King Sovereign Priest valid? They are ordained under the old rites but by bishops of the new order (which you claim was an Eastern Coptic tradition) all the while said bishop may also be invalid as his priestly ordination was possibly invalid, case by case ofcourse?
Catholics sacramental theology teaches when the correct matter and the correct form of a sacrament is seriously applied, ( not in a jocular way or play acting) within an official Catholic ceremony like ordination, the intention is understood as being the correct intention of the Church, and the ordination is valid. The matter and form of the Novus Ordo ordination is the same as before Vatican II. While the present ordination Rite is less clear, the traditional understanding of the Catholic Priesthood is made very clear in the official instructions in the Roman Pontifical Ordinal which is used for ordinations.
The change of the rite is forbidden by the Council of Trent- not only as discipline, but as doctrine about discipline. (Session VII, On the Sacraments, Canon XIII). The essential form of the Latin Rite is defined by Pope Pius XII, and the novus ordo doesn’t match it. Pope Leo XIII declared Anglican orders invalid for the same reasons the novus ordo rites must be regarded so, as concerns those which require a valid priest or Bishop. “Case by case” will not assure anyone of valid novus ordo priests; it rather casts doubt into the recognition of orders within the SSPX.
As a note: Father spoke of the “ceremony” (intentionally used in this instance to highlight a distinction) for bishops as “consecration”, however this word would only apply to the Extraordinary Form celebration. Rather, we now speak of the ordination, not consecration, of bishops. This is an important update to theological vocabulary since the use of the word consecration suggests that there is not a distinct sacramental power being given to them, but rather the sacramental power, namely to ordain men priests, exists within all priests but is somehow “unlocked” at the consecration. At the Council, the understanding shifted to the ordination of bishops which has changed the understanding to show that the bishop actually receives something above and beyond what a priest receives at his ordination. This change in focus, however, was started with Pope Pius XII who wrote “Sacramentum Ordinis” which presupposes the sacramental nature given to bishops at their ordination, which was in contradiction to the understanding of most Scholastic theologians after the Council of Trent. I cannot believe what I am seeing have came home back to the Catholic Church and did not realize the horrible condition that the church is actually in right now because did not pay much attention in my younger days but now that all I care about is the Lord and the way I can properly pay tribute and honor him and worship him this is horrible and truly saddened
My eyes well up with bitter tears whenever I rewatch this article.. it’s just so sad, even though God is still here and he’s allowed this to happen, I cannot help but feel anger towards those who made this happen. To mock something so wonderful and joyous such as the Holy Mass.. I can only clench my fists and say “how could they???” We’ve been robbed of something so amazing!!
Everything that you mentioned that was taken out of the liturgy, are the exact same things that we never ever hear about from the pulpit anymore; sin, hell, judgment, that we can lose our salvation by our sins, etc. No, everyone is going to heaven because of the mercy of God, according to the clergy now. It’s unbelievable.
As a traditional Roman Catholic, I am blown out of the water with this well researched documentary. It seems to me that all of us Roman Catholics today have few answers and even fewer options. I just pray that God supersedes all that is invalid in the Church and looks at the intention of the individual, and bestows His Blessings upon those who truly and devoutly seek them.
I feel so blessed that I have found your website and website. As a convert a lot of this information I was not aware of. I will say, that in my beginning days of research, I found the Vatican 2 to be odd. Honestly, I didn’t understand why these changes. I still have so much more to learn. I often leave mass sickened by what little understanding I have. Please refer me to what I should do to be in good standing with my faith. I do not believe that I have a traditional Catholic Church in my city. Many blessings to you and all you are doing .
Wow. This is eye-opening. I’m new to Catholicism, but have taken an interest in the pre-Vatican II Church. I’m not sure if Francis is illegitimate, but he’s certainly not a great Pope, if he is valid at all. When I first read about the adoption of the New Mass, I thought the only difference was the language change and the orientation of the priest. If only! I had no idea so much was removed! No wonder my Orthodox friends refuse to convert, they often tell me that the modern Catholic Church is more Protestant than Catholic.
My parents were born in the 1950’s I was born in 1975, my kids were born in 2005 and 2007 three generation are being deceived! How do I know which is the true Catholic Church even is latin still not real consacreated bishops and priest! I know that we are at the end of times. How I can find a real ordened priest?
I found MHFM just in time. It seems that around the time I discovered true Catholicism, things in the Novus Ordo sect were just getting even more despicable; as if that were possible. A few people I knew and with whom I lost contact, died as adherents to the Novus Ordo and others whom I still know, won’t listen, even when provided with materials from MHFM. Only one of them is starting to understand, but with many relapses in their thinking. I found it difficult to get him around the thought of “If everyone is doing it, how is it wrong?” Any advice for this obstacle in the future?
@15:00 standing is not only allowed, but it’s technically required in the U.S. I just finished a 3 week seminar on the GIRM, and the presenter pointed out that the instructions say that the local bishops determine what is proper form for receiving, and the USCCB says to stand, and that all should have the same posture, for the spirit of unity. My jaw hit the ground when I learned that. I just joined the church this Easter, but I’ve been going to mass every day and have only received kneeling. My sponsor had a good defense for continuing to kneel and other rationales came to me, but it’s still bothersome to me if the church says I’m doing it wrong…
What are we to do where there no daily Latin Mass. I just watched a other podcast that was saying that ordination prayyers have been changed after Vatican 2 and that all priests are ordinations have been invalid since and therefore all masses and confessions have been invalid since. How can we save our souls??
Happy to found this. But, ” Oh, Lord is so scary.” What should I do now. Where can I find the ” Old traditional church and the priest? My soul is hunger for the words of god and the old traditonal mass in the church. 😭I don’t want to die and my soul be damp in eternal damnation.😭. I need help here! Thanks! Brothers Dimon for this enlightenment.
This is indeed distrubing. What must an average catholic, as myself, is to do if nothing else but the novo orden is available? Is it preferable not to attend a church at all? Is that truly what you want me to do? I have an issue with that. How to obtain the eucharist then? Do you know you áre causing great concern, dissention and confusión? What is the solution you offer to the problem you present? I live outside the US. I live in tijuana, baja, in México. Where do i go?
so I’ve been taking a piece of bread all my life? I only been to a Traditional Latin Mass once in my life. I grew up in a charismatic movement. after my family and I found out that there was a Catechism, we started studying and history of the Church and many other good stuff. we completely stopped going to a charismatic movement, and started to be traditional, but there’s no Latin Mass here where I live. 🙁 it’s becoming very depressing
Isn’t what you said regarding the new rite of ordination also true regarding the new mass? That is, just as the rite of ordination makes no mention of sacrifice, the new mass makes no explicit affirmation of the fact that a sacrifice is about to occur or has occurred. Hypothetically, even if the consecration of the new mass were valid, wouldn’t the lack of explicit mention of a sacrifice render it invalid? Does the context of the consecration matter?
I’m 10 minutes in and there are not yet any arguments as to why the Novus Ordo is invalid just as to why it is illicit. I can’t watch these horrible photos and clips anymore. Can anyone please tell me where the speaker tries to illicit an argument specifically as to why the Novus Ordo in its form is invalid? Thanks.
The ordination rite of Paul VI, the “new rite “, was promulgated on June 18, 1968. FSSP priests are ordained under the ordination rite in effect in 1962, which is the old rite. Therefore, the FSSP priests are legitimately ordained and the Latin Mass they offer is legitimate and valid, as it is the same mass in effect in 1962.
Come out of the Catholic Beast. Precious people, the popes are not Holy Father! Pure blasphemy! Mary and Saints cannot save you. It’s Jesus only, and He loves you, and is calling you out of the Mother of Harlots: Revelation 18:4 “And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues.” 🌹🕀
