Cannabis, a gateway drug, has been the subject of several conspiracy theories over the years. These theories range from allegations of its miraculous therapeutic qualities to government cover. The Gore Files reported stories of violence, rape, and murder by people who had consumed cannabis. A well-designed study found no measurable link between marijuana use and lower IQ. With decades of legal and social opprobrium fading fast, marijuana has become an extremely popular commercial product with more than 48 million users across the U.S. Health concerns have once been a concern, but the cannabis community has pushed back against this massive conspiracy. In almost every state in America, the old laws against marijuana have been rewritten.
The Marijuana Conspiracy is a 2020 Canadian drama film directed by Craig Pryce, based on a true story. It centers on a group of young women in 1972 who undergo isolation in an 98-day human experiment studying the effects of marijuana. Matthew Taylor Morris, 38, a local attorney and resident of Virginia Beach, pled guilty to his role in a conspiracy to supply cannabis.
A federal jury has convicted Jeffrey WENG, 46, of China and Brooklyn, New York, and TONG LIN, 28, of China, of drug trafficking conspiracy. The film explores the reoccurring consequences of marijuana induced paranoia and the origins of the plant and its offshoots.
