Kingmaker, Are You Able To Cast Your Own Spells?

In Kingmaker, spells marked with a (D) can be dismissed at will, provided they are within range of the spell’s effect and the player speaks words of dismissal. If the spell has no verbal component, the effect can be dismissed with a gesture. Area of effect spells can be dismissed at any time, such as Web, while other spells can be dimissed out of combat. Casting spells at caster level 12 can be dispelled easily with a DC of 23 vs your caster level + d20, but with a smaller chance of hitting the target.

In PnP Pathfinder, most duration-based spells can be dismissed via a standard action. Dispel magic can be used to end one ongoing spell that has been cast on a creature or one area effect from a spell in the selected point. A dispel check is made, and if the spell is not designated as “dismissible” (i.e., it does not have a (D) after the duration tag), it can be used to automatically succeed on the target. The specific spell effect to be targeted must be named and the caster level check must be equal to or higher than the DC of that spell.

In Neverwinter Nights 2, spells like Grease and Web can be dismissed early if marked as Dismissible (D). Dispel magic per the PHB allows players to choose one creature, object, or magical effect within range, and any spell of 3rd level or lower on the target ends. Pressing the L key removes area effects like Web and Entangle outside of combat, so players don’t have to wait long for them to expire.

The blindness spell is instantaneous, meaning dispel magic would have nothing to target. However, players cannot voluntarily end their own spells, so when combat ends, any bottlenecks with spells will either be removed or eliminated.
