  • NC (vo): So after an annoying chase scene, the queen captures Rosie as Gus tries to get Stanley to help rescue her. Stanley: Yeah, but what can I do? Gus: What about all your powers, Mr. “You gotta believe” green thumb? NC: Yeah, tell that Rice Krispie elf! Stanley: My “prestidigitation” is no match for Gnorga’s magic. Gus: Oh, sure! You’re just saying that, because you’re scared to fight her! (the flowers gasp) NC (vo): Did he actually suggest that somebody had balls in this movie? Stanley: I’d help you if I could, but I can’t! She’ll turn me to stone, and I don’t want to be rockenized. Gus: You’ll never have a dream come true! And you know why? NC: Take your pick. (A huge list of Stanley’s faults covers the screen: He’s annoying. He’s obnoxious. He won’t shut up. He’s a pansie. He sings to flowers. He’s as bland as Edward from Twilight. He’s vomitingly cute. His logic makes no sense. He needs to die. He’s looks like a rejected Muppet. He’s a coward. He has three teeth. He lives a delusional nutball. He lives in Central Park yet is still alive. He’s ruining this whole friggin’ movie, as well as cinema in general. The Oompa-Loompas could beat him up. He makes Mini-Me look tall. He gets excited when toddlers kiss him. He’s the only troll more annoying than the ones from Encyclopedia Dramatica. A termite has bigger balls than him. Did I mention he’s annoying?) Gus: You’re a coward! NC: (all words except “He’s a coward.” disappear) Good choice.

  • NC (vo): Good God! (pictures for upcoming shows) My Little Pony, the Care Bears, Teletubbies, Cabbage Patch Kids, The Smurfs, Barbie, Pound Puppies, Rainbow Brite, Strawberry Shortcake, Barney the Dinosaur, all the High School Musicals, Jem, and the goddamn Get Along Gang are f—ing butch (word “BUTCH!” all-caps appears on screen) compared to this!

  • 56:00 – 56:03, 56:08 – 56:10, 56:16 – 56:20, 5:30 And 56:43 – 56:56 I Could Just Imagine Gus Would Say The Same Thing To Wanda In The HBO Spawn: The Animated Series Because When Wanda Encounter Spawn For The Very First Time In The Alley, She Didn’t Even Recognize Him As Al Simmons! Instead She Sees Him As A Monster And Then Second Time She Encounter Him At Her House, She Was So Scared And Terrified To Stare At Him And Listen To His Voice! I Just Don’t What Would Happened If There Is A Crossover Animated Series Or Movie Of “Spawn And The Troll In Central Park”, A Kid Like Gus Will In Up Berating And Scolding A Grown Woman Like Wanda For Being Such A So Called “Coward”.

  • 28:55 Wow, it’s soooo beautiful. 😮 If I ever feel stressed and frustrated with my everyday life and just needed to get away from all hustle and bustle, this is the place I would retreat to and find sanctuary. This will be my happy place to meditate, comforted and be at peace with myself. I wish there were such a place that is THIS beautifully floral and green!!

  • the beautiful sparkling effect or ‘Don Bluth Shimmer’ used in this movie was the last time it was used, after this movie was made they no longer used that ‘Don Bluth Shimmer’ effect Here is a bit how it was made (Lost Animation Techniques used in The Secret of NIMH) Effects Supervisor Dorse Lanpher using “exeter” paper as a hold-back matte. It is a glossy black (true black) paper, the same size as the cel, with registration pegs on which we had xeroxed the line art image of the Great Owl and Nicodemus. The effects animators would, with an exacta-blade, remove the area within the eye lines for every drawing in the scene so that the eye “holes” were always in the correct position, then in a second pass on the film negative, shoot every frame with the matching “exeter” paper image without the original painted character nor the background, exposing light from beneath the glass platen at about 600%. Then back the film up again to frame one and expose the backlit eyes a second time with just 60% and a lens blur of 40%, to spread the light in order to create a glow effect around the eyes. We did this same effect with the glowing flowers and other elements when Mrs. Brisby is making her way to the Rats den. Also, for the highlights on the amulet and its chain and for the finale with the sinking concrete block home and all of the fireworks of its resurrection reddit.com/r/animation/comments/6lr6ly/don_bluth_glow_and_sparkles/

  • I know the script is not the best and the kids are kind of annoying! BUT! and it’s a big but! It still has a lot of charm i think❤️❤️ And the 2D animation, OOOOOH the 2D animation here is some of Dons best. It’s so smooth and beautiful also the colour pallet!🙌😍 And can we all agree that this has one of the best villain songs ever!?😀

  • I can not believe I found this movie after all years… I still remember the scene that Troll fell off the skateboard and ended up being in the cage. I remember I felt so sad to see that back in the old days, when I was just a lil child. My father brought this movie to home as a gift to me, and I definitely remember the happiness this movie brought to me as well. Oh man… This is so lovely!

  • Gorilla man lol not much power but it stores up and imagination takes hold blood and thunder i love this movie so passionate and loving and kind they are so sweet the connection of nothing to somethihng is priceless and the child so beautiful and wealthy and the scent of honey suckle lol hes mad rich and the father how dope is he so protective so imaginative i lovc love love creative films 💘💘💘💘💘💘💘💘

  • Stanley is a troll with a magical green thumb, able to bring flowers and plants to life at a touch, which is forbidden in his home, the Kingdom of Trolls. When he is discovered doing so, the other trolls arrest him and take him to Gnorga, the queen of the trolls, who concludes that Stanley “gives a bad name to trolls everywhere” and demands that he be transformed to stone with her dark thumb (which is also purple when it glows). At the behest of her consort King Llort who is constantly attacked by his wife’s dog, Queen Gnorga instead banishes Stanley to Central Park in New York City where, after a series of mishaps, he ends up in a cave under the bridge. The next day in a Manhattan apartment, two young siblings named Gus and Rosie (approximately seven and two years old, respectively) learn that they cannot be taken to Central Park because their father Alan has to go to court for an important case and their mother Hillary has to attend the open house on Park Avenue. While left alone with their nanny Maria, Gus takes Rosie to the park himself. While playing with Gus’ toy boat by the river, Rosie chases a butterfly to the bridge where she mistakes Stanley for her own troll doll. Realizing Stanley is a real troll, she follows Stanley into the cave and befriends him. Gus goes after Rosie, only for his toy boat to be accidentally smashed in the process. After becoming surprised to meet Stanley and his crew of talking flowers, Gus tries to force Rosie to come home with him. Stanley then gets into an argument and struggle with Gus over Rosie which causes her to cry.

  • Everything starts with a dream! Let’s all put our dreams together to let good triumph over evil and stand together for the highest and best for all humans, animals and our beautiful earth! Some may find it tacky perhaps, but I loved it when Stanley grew a magnificent rose and could create islands of flowers and beauty. We sure could use a talent like that now, to heal our great planet and bring out real grass, not plastic lawns, a profusion of trees, plants and water wherever it’s needed. There are too many people out there spreading fear instead of hope, and we can’t let them pull us down. Let’s be positive, strong and work together to bring harmony and peace, compassion and respect back into our lives. I send good wishes to everyone out there!

  • It came out when I was 2 years old, and I remember being very scared of the transformation scene. Same with the one from Rockadoodle. But seeing it now as a 31 year old.. The movie is pretty cute. Nothing groundbreaking, but it is just a positive little adventure. 8/10. Glad to rewatch this while doing other stuff. The casio keyboard music and the kids outfit is peak early 90s tho! 😂

  • THANK YOU FOR PLAYING THIS MOVIE. DOM DE LOUIS IS WONDERFUL AND HIS SINGING IS VERY CHARMING. CLORIS LEACHMAN AS GNORGA IS GOOD. LOVE CHARLES NELSON REILLY, THE DOG BITING HIS LEG CUTE BUT ANNOYING FOR HIM. LOVE THE MOVIE, CHARMING AND MAKES ME CRY THINKING STANLEY’S GONE. WELL THANKS AGAIN AND STAY SAFE AND HEALTHY ❤️ 🙏

  • It’s an absolute shame that this movie had such a dumb story and annoying musical numbers, because the animation is really nice thanks to Don Bluth. The backgrounds and colors are really gorgeous. I actually really like how Don Bluth animated Rosie; he really captured how young toddlers like Rosie move and their mannerisms. At least Don admitted to the movie being flawed. He was quoted as saying, “As it is never a good thing that a child is born prematurely, so it is with producing a film. Development of a script is like the development of a child in a womb; it takes time and it must be done right, and building A Troll in Central Park taught us this lesson, the hard way”. He regretted not making Stanley a richer character that could have perhaps struggled with a darker troll side.

  • A very different tone from Don’s other works, so i can see why people see this as one of his least best. I’d argue the quality still holds up tremendously, which shows that he still puts in the work no matter what. The only critique i would have about this movie is the pacing, which feels pretty slow for a normal length film, and it’s likely that there’s not a lot to expand with the concept or maybe the script was very basic from the start. Either way, I really like the amazing animation from this film, as well as the vibrant colors that makes every shot stand out. Amazing stuff Bluth

  • A Troll in Central Park is Absolutely a Terrible Movie. Don Bluth also Did Not Like that Movie Himself. I Remember perusal it and I Did Not Enjoy it. The Trolls and Especially Stanley Looked Creepy, and the Plot was Filled with Pointlessness, Dullness, and Nothingness. Hopefully, Don Bluth Learned His Lesson on that.
