Classical eastern traditions, particularly those developed in India during the 1st millennium AD, describe nadi and chakra in a “subtle body” context, where the prana (breath, life energy) flows through the nadi and cakra. This subtle body network is believed to be reachable, awake-able, and important for an individual’s body-mind health and how one relates to others in their life.

Esoteric traditions in Hinduism mention numerous numbers and arrangements of chakras, with a classical system of six-plus-one, the last being the Sahasrara. Hindu Tantra associates six Yoginis with six places in the subtle body, corresponding to the six chakras of the six-plus-one system.

Chakras, a concept in Hinduism, are believed to correspond to physical body parts, particularly the nervous system. The nervous system consists of the brain and spinal column, which contain nerves that branch off from the spine in bundles called plexuses. Primary chakras, located down the spine, may correspond to the central nervous system and their connection to specific health aspects may relate to different nerve plexuses. For instance, a 2017 cadaver study found that the root chakra might be related to the inferior hypogastric plexus.

Secure the strand by cutting the wire and forming another loop. Twist open a jump ring with snipe nose or flat nose pliers, attach the hamsa hand charm, and the memory wire loop before closing.

Use a bead board or bead mat to plan the order of beads for easier threading and avoid mistakes. Choose from 6mm chakra round beads, 5mm gold filled heishi beads, 3. 5mm jump rings, and hamsa hand charms.

  • I like the way you use the pick to apply the solder. Other articles I’ve seen simply show the solder being rested against the item and then heated – your way makes much more sense. The black isn’t carbon – it is silver oxide. Interesting fact – compressed charcoal blocks were/are used for melting metals because the charcoal will combine with any free oxygen (forming carbon dioxide) rather than with the metal.

  • All I have to say is thank you, thank you thank you! I’m a 60 yr old retired woman that is finally doing what I’ve always wanted to do and that’s silver smithing and along the way fell in love with rough opals. I loved your techniques and you did say you were doing it in a quicker method for the article etc. I’ve also learned along the way perusal many tutorials everyone has different techniques. I loved the simplicity in your article sorry that the 47 years experienced silver smith seemed so agitated. Great job I learned somethings and look forward to following you.

  • I am confused.. Do you have to cover your piece completely in flux? My silversmith teacher taught us to cover your piece in a boric acid/ alcohol solution. Then, she paints the green flux on only the seam that is being joined. Great article and thank you for all the tips! Im a beginner so apologies if this is a silly question lol

  • New subscriber here! I saw your other article on soldering and just purchased a screen and tripod (the only soldering tool I didn’t have!!)😊 Anyway, I have an organic, eclectic jewelry business that has been doing art shows and internet business since 2014. I am solely self-taught and started with bead work, and now i do mostly wire wrapping and metal smithing. Thank you for your thorough and informative article, especially the articles on soldering and the essentials of successful soldering. It has improved my skills, and I just love you and your articles, so please keep them coming! Thanks again. ❤ Karyn (Incantations by Karyn)

  • I would never solder a bezel to that much sheet. Your students should know that sterling is the most conductive metal for heat which means that the solder will not flow until the entire mass reaches the same temp need to flow the solder. With this much of a heat-sink, it’s easy to burn off the flux before the solder flows. Also each time you use this sheet as a back plate you are introducing more fire stain deeper into the metal. For a stone of this size I find it better to cut down the rectangle of sheet to just what I need for the project and hold a corner in a third hand and heat from below. If I’m concerned that the plate will sag, I support the opposite side with a 2nd third hand. Even with the plan to use the solder to also attach the rope embellishment, I feel the amount you used was overkill. Finally I think you could attach the last piece of wire with medium solder as it’s stronger than easy. As the medium has been heated twice, it’s melting temp has increased so the danger of things shifting is not great if you’re careful with the torch. From a silversmith with 47 years experience
