  • Once you use the mission control, you really can’t go back. I actually clicked on this vid looking to make sure it has some mission control access on it lol. It just feels amazing to use. Though I wish it was the three finger swipe up and down like it is on mac. I still can’t get over how fluid it feels…

  • This tutorial has been helpful. I am yet to start a virtual training and after buying the Magic Mouse I thought that I missed out one important gadget and that is the PPT pointer, then I quickly came to youtube to check why I have no sign on the mouse that it is charging! And boom, I got to this tutorial and guess what? I do not need PPT pointer. The magic mouse is indeed MAGIC ❤️.

  • Thanks for the article, have you or any other viewers come up with a good recommendation for middle click? I’ve seen a few third party apps but it seems like there should be a more “supported” way to do this. I frequently do 3D modeling and not having that middle button for object manipulation is a real headache. Thank you.

  • The Magic Mouse is awesome. But if all you think of when it comes to a mouse is pointing and clicking, it won’t be worth the $99 price tag. If you incorporate all of the features of the Magic Mouse and are comfortable with using them regularly, the Magic Mouse is worth the cost and will help you be more productive in your work.

  • For the tracking speed, it will be different depending on surface on which the mouse is on. Always set it or adjusted with the surface on which the mouse is gonna be used on. To rename the mouse simply go to Bluetooth settings (Bluetooth preference) When you see the mouse right click on it and you will get the options RENAME, DISCONNECT and REMOVE.

  • Hi, does the magic mouse support horizontal scrolling? I’m wondering if that interferes with the scroll between pages option (with one finger), and if the scroll between pages option is enabled with two fingers, how does the scroll between full screen apps function change? Don’t have the magic mouse yet so I can’t test it out myself. Thanks for the article, incredibly helpful!

  • Brilliant! Good article. I used the disable trackpad (built in) if when you just don’t want to be bothered with accidentally touching pad while using mouse & resting palms on deck. Added tip or reminded. Easily share a pair of Magic Keyboard & mouse between your Apple devices, including iPhone & iPad Mini (Android as well).

  • When I bought my iMac I know nothing but got driven mad by the screen jumping to a very large view of a corner of the screen. It made me close and start again to get rid of it. Now I know how to disable it as I do not use it. I nearly took it back to the apple shop as I found it annoying. Now I know it was an intentional feature and how to stop it. I kept googling as to why it happened as I thought it was a fault. No manual meant no information for new users.

  • Is there a way to set the Magic Mouse 2 to have a secondary “right click” like the setting I have on my MBA 2020 trackpad right now? It’s “tap/click with two fingers” to bring up the menus. In the article, sorry if I just missed it but it seemed like you can only change the Secondary click from left to right side of the mouse. I don’t have the Magic Mouse 2 yet but I’m in the market for a mouse and just seeing if this would fit into my workflow

  • I am a long time Windows user who has just got a MacBook Pro, and I was pleased when I realised that the Magic Mouse I had for an iPad Pro would work on the MBP. I use an MX Master 3 on my Windows desktop, and they seem to be popular for MBP users, but I am actually finding the MM a good match for the MBP. Especially if you are going to be travelling with it. I learned some good tips from this article, so thanks for that. I am gradually getting to grips with the Mac, but some of it has taken some thinking about, and it was a relief to discover Rectangle after finding that Macs do not park windows like Windows. WTF is that about?

  • Anyone notice that the Magic Mouse 2 moves at 60hz on the screen? The cursor seems very gittery compared to the ultra smooth trackpad. I move the trackpad and the cursor seems like it is moving at ‘120hz’ or the maximum, but using the mouse the cursor is laggy almost like half the frame rate. Quite disappointed with how ‘clicky’ and audible the mouse buttons are. I will return the mouse if I can’t fix the lagginess. ;(

  • Can a user pinch to Zoom In and Out on the Magic Mouse 2? If not, do you foresee that being a feature they may bring to future magic mice? Also, another article mentioned their hand cramps after using the Magic Mouse for awhile, has that been your experience? Thanks for this helpful article! I’ve never used a Magic Mouse because the features and capabilities confused me but I may invest in one now! 🙂

  • it sounds like the magic mouse does not have a tap (in lieu of click) option, the way one can do on the inbuilt trackpad? is this correct? I’m not keen on anything that requires physical clicking because it always makes a sound but I can’t find a mouse that allows you to tap for click and I’m not sure if the apple mouse does it.

  • 1 – if it possible to zoom gradually, not as a “smart”bla bla bla, but the normal zoom slowly, As i’m a sighted person, i use two fingers on a trackpad, and that works well, would be the nice, if two fingers on the mouse would work the same. And the second thing is – is that possible to imitate the wheel click on the apple mouse?, Since i use the wheel click to open a link in a new tab immediately without any context menu.

  • I just recently replaced my laptop with a Mac mini set up and was debating whether to get the track pad or mouse. Decided I didn’t like the track look and went with the mouse but missed some of the track features. The mission control and zoom tap are great! I wanted to view all my opened windows just like when u swipe up on Mac but couldn’t figure it out so THANKS!!!

  • Can one just use it as a basic wireless mouse, as in move cursor and click? I don’t know what it is that I am doing, but I have issues where I will just move or touch my Magic Mouse a certain way and I’ll lose (for example, I’m typing a comment on a YouTube article..) an entire web page, lose my article I’m perusal, the page will go back with no intentional input on my part. Very frustrating and though I’m pretty good with the basic mouse gestures, it is frustrating to lose an entire paragraph while commenting because I accidentally moved to mouse too fast for it to absorb the action or whatever.. I just want a basic mouse I can use to move cursor n click that is conveniently wireless. I’ve never had these issues under Windows.

  • I cannot understand why it’s ‘natural’ to move your finger UP when you want to go DOWN. Drives me nuts when I use a friend’s Mac and his mouse moves the opposite of the way I want to go. I want to see the TOP of the page, I have to move my finger toward the BOTTOM of the page. And if I want to see the BOTTOM of the page, I have to move my finger toward the TOP of the page. That’s natural… if you naturally drive your car in reverse.

  • How do you turn OFF the function that causes the app screens to scroll left/right when the finger is resting on the mouse? Scrolling windows up/down is useful and great but when I’m working editing articles my timeline is CONSTANTLY scrolling left and right when my finger is resting on the back of the mouse. How can I turn it off?

  • Great article Tutorial!! Thank you so much. I do have a question. At the 7:00 minute mark, you closed an app up in the task area (I am new to Mac). On my MacBook Air, I don’t have the little “X” to close those app up there. I have the maximize icon and I would like to be able to just close those. Is there a setting for that?

  • I have an issue. I just bought the latest Magic Mouse and I’m new into the MacOS. I feel the mouse does not track my movements as precise as I used to do it with my previous windows OS. It feels like I have to do a lot of effort to point at a very tiny detail. I assume there’s a solution for this. Any advices? Thanks!

  • Thanks for the article, very helpful. I only have the secondary click, smart zoom and mission control activated and I’m wondering if you know how to stop the swiping motion when reading emails. I have a new iMac and am using the new Outlook feature . As I scroll through my emails I’m finding that it’s very easy to delete them as I naturally must be swiping slightly and the red delete box comes on. Is there anyway to stop this when looking through emails. Id much rather highlight an email and have to press delete. Appreciate your help.

  • On my 2010 and 2011 I could swipe with two fingers from right to left to go back to a previous web page. I’m not able to do it with the 2021 Apple M1 computer and Magic Mouse. Do you have any tips on how to achieve that? Over the years I’ve gotten real used to being able to click on another page and then come back to this page just as if I were to go to the top left and click the BACK arrow.

  • I don’t like my Magic Mouse at all. It is difficult to keep the screen steady, as it always wants to scroll up unless I remove my hand altogether. The other spoof it does is let’s say when I play a puzzle and click on a number a small screen pops up displaying “Back”, “Reload Page”, Save Page As…”, “Print Page…” which is also very annoying.

  • This mouse is sooo soo bad. Why is the optical sensor on top, it makes it way harder to control, especially for fine movements, it should be in the middle. If you wanna left click then you need to lift up your fingers. Clicking requires you to push so exaggeratedly hard on it, it’s so exhausting, especially considering the extremely unergonomic shape of this mouse. I find the touch controls to be very nice, but not worth it at all, plus since its so hard to push to click, it sometimes scrolls when I try to click something and I end up clicking something else. Also, in order for this mouse to be useable you must first go into terminal, turn off the acceleration and change the speed from terminal as well, and restart for each change until it’s fine tuned, because you need to restart your PC in order for the changes to apply. The mouse is unusable with the horrible acceleration. For £80 I should’ve bought a Razer bluetooth mouse instead.
