There are very simple and easy to follow methods such as the PF Tek which in my personal experience only run $50-$100 CAD in upfront costs. I did the calculations and the only component I anticipate replacing regularly is the perlite for the shotgun fruiting chamber which means that post initial investment it will only cost ~$15 to grow anywhere from 1/2 oz – 1 oz of mushrooms if spore prints from each crop are taken. Basically, it’s a lot more reasonable than the average person might think 👍
before I started growing my own the cost in Chicago it was generally ($10 a gram) $35 for an eighth. Update: in Chicago that’s actually considered a good price and it held up even during the pandemic but the reality is it is not hard to grow your own because then you’re only paying pennies an ounce. Spores are not hard to find they can be shipped to all but 3 states.
