Why is Krispy Kreme called Krispy?

The origin of the name “Krispy Kreme Donuts” is a mystery, but it is believed to be related to the texture of the donut when bitten. The name was bought from a New Orleans-based chef, Rudolph, who used his last $25 to rent a factory space and sell his donuts to grocery stores. Rudolph even convinced a nearby grocer to lend him ingredients in return for payment once the donuts were sold.

However, the smell of the donuts from Rudolph’s factory building led to mobs of people coming in from off the street and asking to buy it. Rudolph cut a hole in the wall and started making sidewalk sales.

Krispy Kreme expanded over the next few years to a small chain of mostly family-owned stores, all using the same secret recipe but not producing consistent products. To improve consistency, Krispy Kreme started mechanizing their donut-making process, delivering a dry donut mix to every store and eventually engineering doughnut making equipment used at each location.

  • If it takes you 40+ minutes to drive 5.5 miles, either you’re the slowest driver in the usa, or you’re taking a scenic route, instead of a direct route. If you take the scenic route, that’s on you, the driver. Get another job if you have no sense of direction nor can’t follow google map most direct route.

  • Tipping should be done after the delivery person gets there. This whole including the tip when you order is nonsense. If a pizza arrives an hour late, it’s obviously no tip at all. Companies used to have a policy, if it’s late by a certain amount it’s free. The whole tip is based on the service. The service isn’t complete until you have your food. They also used to bring you the receipt. You could write the tip in, or tip in cash. Wish we knew the cost of his order. I’m sure the tip was at least 15%, maybe over. Drivers used to give you the food no matter what after payment. If that included a tip or not. Some days they get good tips, others not so much. How do you know what tip is necessary until the completion of service? She was clearly holding his property hostage until he gave her more money. Wonder how much it would have cost to get what he already paid for? That lady is an entitled maniac. Here you go, here’s a dollar 100 bill for my 40 dollar order. Thanks for doing your job, and breathing oxygen.
