Was The Teaching Of Chakras And Kundalini Bad By Jesus?

Philip St. Romain, author of Kundalini Energy and Christian Spirituality, argues that the Hindu notions of chakras, astral body, and kundalini energy are incompatible with Christian teachings. Many biblical scholars argue that the concept of chakras is fundamentally incompatible with Christian teachings, as it contradicts the teachings of Jesus the Messiah. The Bible does not mention the seven chakras found in Eastern spiritual practices, and Westernized yoga practices like Kundalini yoga may not have much to do with any Eastern religion.

Kundalini is a life force that cleanses and purifies energy centers within the body, aligning with biblical teachings of repentance and spiritual growth. However, Christianity does not include the seven chakras found in Eastern spiritual traditions. The concept of kundalini has no place in Christianity, as it is considered freedom and not considered invalid or evil.

Chakras are satanic, and each of the seven with more compulsive and negative aspects could represent increasingly evil spirits. The perception of these chakras is a matter of debate, as they may bring about a deeper union with God. The serpent power, which rules with an iron rod, is believed to be the source of the “kundalini”, which mercilessly slays the forces of evil through the chakra system.

Demons, or unclean spirits, make up the evil urges of our lower natures and are automatic forces of the ego on the astral (emotion and desire). Chakras are commonly discussed in New Age discourse, but this does not mean that chakras are evil.

In this video, I discuss the topic of opening your chakras and if a Christian should participate in doing so. As an ex-Hindu, there is …

What religion believes in chakras?

Chakras, believed to have originated in India around 1, 000 years ago, are mentioned in ancient Hindu and Buddhist spiritual texts like the Vedas and Yoga Upanishads. These beliefs were later integrated into various systems of healing and spirituality, such as Ayurveda, yoga, Hinduism, and Buddhism. These systems focus on the flow of life energy through our bodies and the universe, and the use of chakras is believed to help connect with this energy.

Yoga uses breath and movement to bring energy into the body, while Ayurveda uses herbal medicine and meditation to open and balance chakras. Chakras gained popularity in the West in the 1960s-1970s as part of alternative spiritual movements, including psychology, complementary medicine, and spiritual practices.

Can Christians do Reiki?

New ideas and changes in the world often challenge our spiritual lives, often impacting our religious values and beliefs. Christians who take their spiritual lives seriously often gather information, think about it, and pray for guidance before deciding how to incorporate new thoughts or practices into their daily lives. This is a spiritually mature way to deal with such situations.

Christian churches have a long tradition of adopting practices that enhance their members’ spiritual lives based on examples of Jesus’ actions described in the Bible. These practices include music, liturgy, silence, inspired prayer, worship on Saturdays and Sundays, dance, baptizing by emersion, honoring saints, and seeking angelic experiences. In Christian worship, the cross is the focus, complemented by candles, music, prayer beads, bells, incense, and other ritual items.

As Christians seek ways to increase and strengthen their spiritual moments, many have adopted practices to develop the “Gifts of the Spirit”, which include speaking wisdom, knowledge, and the power to heal. Paul describes people within the church having roles as apostles, prophets, teachers, miracle-performers, healers, those who direct others, and those who speak in strange tongues.

In conclusion, while many Christians find Reiki to be a spiritually fulfilling practice, it is not necessarily for everyone. Different Christian groups incorporate various methods to follow the teachings of the Bible and come closer to God.

What are the negative effects of the kundalini awakening?

Kundalini awakening has the potential to precipitate a range of psychological and emotional disturbances, including intensified unresolved conflicts, heightened fear of death or insanity, pronounced mood swings, heightened sensitivity to others’ moods, and confusion.

What are elemental spirits in the Bible?

The Greek word “stoicheia” in the Bible, translated as “rudiments of the world” or “principles of this world”, has been a subject of debate among commentators. It is believed to refer to the astral gods of the ancient religion, or the basic elements of a religious system, such as the alphabet. However, it is more likely that the “elemental spirits” are angels, as mentioned in Gal. 3:19. The Jewish belief was that the Law was given to Israel through the agency of angelic powers, and Christ’s death destroyed the authority of the Law as a mediator between God and humanity.

Is it safe to awaken Kundalini?

Kundalini awakenings are often a result of a slow and steady process, rather than intense pranayama or other methods. These awakenings can cause negative effects such as sadness, fear, introversion, and unwillingness to talk. Each individual’s experience is unique, with some experiencing bliss and a sense of interconnectedness, while others may feel like a bad drug trip or a psychotic break, leading to altered sleep patterns, personality changes, and depression.

Kundalini awakenings remind us that consciousness is more vast and nuanced than we have ever imagined. People who experience a psychotic break following an awakening usually have past experiences of instability, high stress levels, and lack of emotional support. Both Sovatsky and Kempton recommend seeking support for those concerned about troubling side effects from a kundalini awakening.

Can Christians do meditation?

Meditation is a crucial spiritual discipline for Christians, as it helps shape their thoughts, character, and actions. In the Old Testament, Psalm 145, a poem about God’s character and works, encourages meditation on God’s attributes and actions. This practice shapes a person’s thoughts, character, and actions. Psalm 1 and Psalm 119 also call for meditation on Scripture. Psalm 1 explains that regular meditation on the Bible will nourish the soul and help resist sin, indicating human flourishing.

In the New Testament, passages like Philippians 4:4-9, Colossians 3:1-3, Romans 8:5-7, Hebrews 3:1, and Hebrews 12:2 encourage Christians to focus their minds on God and his plans, aligning their thoughts, emotions, and actions with God’s purposes. These passages also encourage believers to focus on Jesus, filling them with hope and enabling them to emulate him. The writers of these New Testament passages emphasize that a person’s thoughts determine their future, making meditation a critical spiritual discipline for followers of Jesus.

What is Kundalini in Christianity?

In some Eastern spiritual traditions, the spark of life is represented by a coiled spiral at the base of the spine. This concept is also found in certain Western Christian religions, where it is known as the divine sacred fire.

What does the Bible say about chakras?

The Bible does not explicitly mention the chakras or energy, which may seem like a cause for concern. However, it is important to note that the Bible is not the only source of information about God’s creation. It also shares God’s promises in the world. The Bible was not intended to be an exhaustive text describing the intricacies of God’s creation. However, we can find concepts like the “breath of life” in Genesis 2:7, which refers to the vital life force or life-giving energy. This highlights the importance of considering the Bible as the Word of God and not as an exhaustive description of God’s creation.

What does the Bible say about Kundalini energy?

Kundalini spirits are not mentioned in the Bible and Westernized yoga practices like Kundalini yoga may not have much to do with any Eastern religion. However, some Christians worry that the devil is getting his foothold by people accessing the Kundalini spirit. Kundalini spirits are mostly discussed in Pentecostal or Charismatic circles, where the Spiritual realm is given more credibility. These groups view the Kundalini spirit as a spirit that comes into a person who practices yoga and yokes them to Hindu deities.

People who want to guard against a false manifestation of spiritual gifts accuse some hyper-charismatic churches of having a Kundalini spirit due to the ecstatic and seemingly out-of-control worship that breaks out in these environments.

Is believing in chakras a sin?

Chakras are a topic of debate among Christians, with some viewing them as a sin or incompatible with core beliefs. Others view them as spiritually dangerous or anti-Biblical, while others view them as a part of open-minded Christianity. The interpretation of chakras varies among different denominations and individuals, with some viewing them as a spiritually dangerous or incompatible practice.

Can Christians do energy work?

Christians can express gratitude for God’s providential care in energy healing, as seen in mainstream medicine, prayer, and healing miracles. They have a strong theological foundation, not pragmatism, and have a brief glimpse of God’s general presence and revelation. However, many non-Christian energy healers refer to the source as an impersonal force or the universal life force.

The issue lies in the healer’s failure to give glory to God for the healing. They develop a “reality construct” or metaphysic to explain the phenomenon, leading to spiritual darkness and a new age spirituality. The root cause of spiritual deception lies with the sinful individual, and when God is not acknowledged, the truth is distorted by idolatry. Idolatry is a process that begins in the fallen human mind, suppressing and repressing God’s knowledge for idols. Christians must not forget that the warning about idolatry applies to believers, as they can easily slip into a nonacknowledgement of God’s work and replace it with idolatry.

Apologists are right to alert us to the faulty metaphysics found in new age healing, and Biblical discernment of correct teaching is essential. However, Christians should not just identify false teachings but also take the positive initiative to offer Christ as the completion of what is dimly grasped by non-Christians.
