The Five Pillars of Islam, also known as the Quran, are the core beliefs and practices of Islam. They consist of the five most important practices in the Muslim faith: the testimony of faith (shahada), daily prayer (ṣalāh), alms-giving (al-zakat), fasting (al-sawm), and pilgrimage. The Quran was first revealed to Prophet Muhammad during Ramadan, the ninth month of the Islamic lunar calendar, which lasts either 29 or 30 days.
The Quran is central to Islam, and Muslims believe that there is no god but God, and Muhammad is the Messenger of God. The five pillars of Islam include the profession of faith (al-shahada), prayer (al-salat), alms-giving (al-zakat), fasting (al-sawm), and pilgrimage.
Common rituals in Islam include Aqiqah, Hajj, Janazah, Khitan, Nikah, Salah, Sawm, and Shahada. Ritual purity is considered necessary before performing acts such as touching the Qur’an, prayer (ṣalāh), or embarking on the sacred pilgrimage. Muslims pray facing Mecca five times a day, including reciting the opening chapter (sura) of the Quran. Salat involves performing ritual prayers five times a day, standing, bowing, kneeling, and prostrating the body before God.
Holy Days, Festivals, and Rituals include Akikah, Shadada, and Marriage Ritual. The most practiced prayer in Islam is Namaz, a simple meditation that is a conversation with God. The second Pillar is ritual prayer, or salat, which Muslims must pray five times daily at dawn, noon, mid-afternoon, after sunset, and before going to bed. Before a prayer, ablutions are performed, including washing hands, face, and feet.

What are the 4 types of rituals?
Gluckman distinguishes four kinds of ritual, with rite of passage being a typical constitutive ritual. However, the terms “rite of passage” and “ritual” face difficulties as analytic concepts, making it difficult to differentiate between common behavior, rite of passage, and ritual in a strict sense. Van Gennep’s original expressions of the basic features of the rite of passage are vague, and the core problem is what people want to change through ritual.
Travel away from home but not for subsistence is a human behavior that has been widespread in all societies since ancient times. It wasn’t until the late twentieth century that tourism became a general necessity of life, promoting the development of related industries around the world. Determining the coordinates of tourism in cultural anthropology and establishing an analytic framework of tourism are frequently the focus of research for tourism anthropologists.
Graburn and Nash, two important researchers in the anthropology of tourism, have debated these basic questions. Graburn suggests that tourism is a “modern ritual” in contemporary society, where people are outside of their daily lives and in the travel life, which differs from routine work and life. He divides the life of the tourist into three stages: secular work-divine travel-secular work.
Nash later proposed that the purpose of travel, attitude toward travel, and the traveler’s behavior vary from person to person, and not all kinds of travel are similar to pilgrimage. While Graburn’s points of view can be useful for analyzing tourism, it’s important to be wary of being trapped into any one conceptual scheme, particularly one that may acquire a quality of truth in the minds of its proponents.
What are the 10 rules of Islam?
The text underscores the significance of adherence to specific religious tenets, including abstaining from sinful actions, refraining from homicide, avoiding adultery, abstaining from theft, and honoring one’s parents.
What are the rituals in Islam?
The Five Pillars of Islam are the core beliefs and practices of the religion. The first is the Profession of Faith (shahada), which is the belief that there is no god but God and that Muhammad is the Messenger of God. This belief is prominently featured in architecture and objects, including the Qur’an. Muslims become a Muslim by reciting the phrase with conviction. The second is the Prayer (salat), which involves praying facing Mecca five times a day, including the opening chapter of the Qur’an.
Muslims can pray individually or together in a mosque, guided by an imam. Men gather in the mosque for the noonday prayer on Friday, while women are welcome but not obliged to participate. After the prayer, a sermon focuses on a passage from the Qur’an, followed by prayers by the imam and a discussion of a particular religious topic.
What traditions do Islam do?
Islam emphasizes practice over belief, with law being the most important area of concern for Muslims. The five pillars of Islam are the confession of faith, worship, almsgiving, fasting, and the pilgrimage to Mecca. A Muslim is one who confesses that there is no God but God and that Muhammad is the messenger of God. Islam affirms a radical monotheism, with God being the creator, ruler, and judge of the world. Muhammad serves as the last and final prophet, serving as a model for the Muslim community.
Muslims are called to prayer five times daily, preceded by ablution, a cleansing of the body, and facing the holy city of Mecca. They worship by standing, kneeling, and prostrating while reciting verses from the Quran. On Friday, the noon prayer should be said at a mosque with a congregation, but any place is acceptable. Since there is no priesthood and no sacraments in Islam, any Muslim may lead the prayer and officiate at weddings and burials. A clerical class has developed, consisting of religious scholars (ulama) and local religious leaders (mullahs).
Do and don’ts in Islam?
Islam prohibits harmful practices, such as haram, from being consumed, while permissible practices are halal. Muslims are required to eat halal meat, which is butchered and blessed in an Islamic way. They are also prohibited from gambling, taking interest, fortune-telling, killing, lying, stealing, cheating, oppressing others, being greedy, engaging in sex outside of marriage, disrespecting parents, and mistreating relatives, orphans, or neighbors.
There is no hierarchy of clergy in Islam, and Muslim religious leaders have no power to forgive people of their sins. Instead, every individual has a direct relationship with God without intermediaries. Religious leaders or scholars, called ulema, are experts in various aspects of Islam, such as Sharia, hadith, and Quranic recitation. Conversion to Islam is encouraged, but Muslims are not to attack others’ beliefs or engage in conflicts or debates about religion. There is no formal ceremony for conversion, and people must merely believe in and recite the shahada.
How to shower after a period in Islam?
To perform ghusul, one must first wash the genitals, then make wudu, and finally pour water over the neck and back, rubbing all skin. A large washcloth should be used to clean the back, and it is imperative to perform ghusul before washing the genitals.
Is Ramadan a ritual?
Muslims worldwide will begin their daily fasting rituals during the Islamic holy month of Ramadan, marking a time of increased worship, charity, and good deeds. The fasting period often brings families and friends together for festive gatherings around meals. Ramadan is followed by the Eid al-Fitr holiday. However, the recent Israel-Hamas war has left Gaza in ruins and caused a humanitarian catastrophe, leaving many Palestinians in the devastated northern region struggling for food.
Some Muslims are considering ways to remain mindful of the Palestinians’ plight during Ramadan, such as making donations, saying prayers, or incorporating Palestinian traditional symbols in their fasting practices.
What is halal ritual?
Halal slaughter is a method of slaughter that requires the animal to die from a knife cut to the throat, with pre-slaughter stunning not to cause immediate death. Reversible electrical stunning can be used to render animals unconscious during the slaughter process, meeting both animal welfare and halal requirements. For cattle, head-only electrical stunning is often used, requiring the bovine to be bled within 10 seconds. Electronarcosis was declared licit within an Islamic context in 1978 by the Egyptian Fatwa Committee.
However, the practice has faced resistance from some Muslim communities. Opponents of dhabīḥah ḥalāl argue that certain methods of slaughter cause severe suffering to animals compared to stunned animals, with some religious groups agreeing to electronarcosis as a method of slaughter. This is because slaughter without prior stunning leaves the spinal cord intact, allowing pain until death.
What is the Islamic ritual law?
Islamic Law, also known as Shariah, governs Muslim behavior and rituals. It is the governing law in some countries and applies to specific areas like personal status or finance. There are two main sects of Islam: Sunni and Shi’i, with Sunnis comprising 90% of Muslims and Shi’i 10%. The split occurred after the Prophet Muhammad’s death in 632 CE. Islamic law is derived from the Qur’an and the Sunnah, the holy book of Islam and the sayings and conduct of the Prophet Muhammad.

📹 What’s The Difference Between Shia And Sunni Islam?
Shia and Sunni Muslims practice two similar versions of Islam, but what’s the difference? Subscribe for more videos: …
I’m Shia but my allah bless our Sunni brothers and sisters even though we disagree on some major stuff in the end we’re all Muslim and god isn’t going to judge us on if it was meant to be Abu Bakr or ALI he will judge us on our actions so may Allah forgive us all and grant us jannah inshallah amen 🙏
in islam there is no shia, sunni, mujahid etc .. true muslims dont make split in between them . true muslims practice salah 5 times per day and they follow quran and hadeeth as well . and they themselves try to learn what islam teaches rather than asking to imams and they dont blindly follow and think like imam are the last point to clear doubts . and they tell sad or good things to allah and they ask to allah for their needs. thats all if any of the muslims try to do this clearly he or she will go jannah for sure
I’m Hindu. I hope Shia and Sunni Muslims along with Sufi and Ahamadi unite together in name of Allah, Forget your little differences. You Muslims are not Terrorists, You were Scholars, Inventors and Scientists of the Ancient world !!! Arise o Muslims, Revive the Spirit of Learning that your Prophet taught you !!!
I am a shia From Iraq living in holland and i don’t hate my brothers and sisters the sunna B4 the propheet was going.. he said this s.a.w.w. I left 2 things after me 1. THE QURAN 2. MY AHLULBAIT Who’s is his Ahlulbait? (Ali, fatima, Hassan, hussain) ALI A.S. IS NOT A PROPHEET HE IS A LEADER The propheet said : “whos Following Ali they will never lost them way.” Let me tell the peoples who think ali a.s. ia the propheet.. LISTEN ALLAH IS UR AND US RAB MUHAMMAD IS UR AND US PROFHEET S.A.W. AND HES WAS THE LAST PROPHEET. AND ALI A.S. IS THE LEADER OF THE ISLAM. (THE GROUP OF SHIA) ya Allah ya muhammed ya ali
I am an Azerbaijani Turk and a Muslim belonging to the Shia sect. Some members of the Sunni sect misrepresent us. We do not consider Hazrat Ali superior to Prophet Muhammad and Allah in any way (these are done by sects that act like Shia), and we do not curse our mother Aysha,Hazrat Omar, Hazrat Osman and Hazrat Abu Bakr. We believe that Ali was treated unfairly. 😊
After perusal this article, what I realized is that this one small difference is absolutely no reason for there to be fighting among Sunnis and Shias. We should live together in peace. Both Abu Bakr and Ali (may Allah be pleased with them both) were two of the greatest leaders of Islam and the closest among his companions.
The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said he left 2 things on earth his Book of Allah Holly (Quran) and his (AHLULBAYT) if you follow these 2 you will never go Astray this is what he said so SHIAS follows the (Ahlulbayt) the family of the Prophet (PBUH) not Abu Bakr or Omar Ibn Khattab because there is not a single verse made by Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) that they should lead the Muslim Ummah after me but in fact Ali Ibn Abi Talib (RA) has been announced in many occasions by Prophet (PBUH) to lead the Muslim Ummah after him and he’s also part of the Household (Ahlulbayt) of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) so now tell me who is on the right path SHIAS or SUNNIS?
It’s a little different. The truth is that our master Abu Bakr was the one who assumed the caliphate after the Muslims agreed on him, and even our master Ali pledged allegiance to Abu Bakr. This may be the wisdom of divinity, as happened when the Prophet Muhammad gave birth to his children, and then God took their souls after that. This was to prevent people from being fascinated by their prophecy after him and claiming prophethood after him. Something similar happened to Ali. One time, people gathered with our master Ali and said to him: You are God. Ali became very angry with them. In the end, we are all Muslims, we agree and disagree, and everyone has their freedom 🤍🤍
I am Muslim bcoz of prophet Hazrat Muhammad Mustafa s.a.w.w and if any one tell us Sahaba are great sahaba are great leader sahaba are great wisdom Sahaba are More more more more than imagine then unfortunately Rasool s.a.w.w daughter Fatima Zehra a.s and wife of Mola Ali a.s as well,we shia believes sahaba self made Khalifa forcefully bcoz of vote majority and didn’t gives justice to Fatima zehra a.s so thats why we are divided some reasons, we are shiaya e Ali bcoz Follower of Imam Ali a.s after Rasool s.a.w.w and other are Sunnis bcoz of follower of Sahaba Ghose paak farooqui siddique ghani etc after Rasool. But Brelvi sunni are true Muslim brothers deep from my heart .
My friend is a shia and he always say that only Imam Ali is the rightful khalifa… Other khalifa were political people who dont have people’s mandate… He also said that, the martyrdom of Imam Ali, Imam Hussain and Hassan are because those people were against Rightful descendant of Prophet Mohammed … Hence every shia has a revenge mindset, against those who were the enemy of Prophet mohammad descendents, so they mourn in Muharram
Well it was better if you add prophet Muhammad ص said before his death in qadir khom and all the Sunnis know that happened “Man kuntu mawlahu fa aliyyun mawlahu” meaning: “He whose Mawla I am, Ali is his Mawla.” The Prophet then prayed: “O Allah, be a friend of whoever is his friend and extend your support to those who support him” That means he choosed imam ali not abu bakr.
1. Give someone a copy of Qur’an, every time they read it you earn 2. Donate a wheelchair to a hospital, every time someone sick sits in it you gain 3. Participate in building a masjid 4. Place a watercooler in a public space 5. Plant a tree, every time a human or animal sits in its shade you gain 6. And the easiest, share this message with others. whenever someone reads it, you gain. May Allah help everyone
As Shia, I say there is no REAL difference between Sunni and Shia. It’s only one extremist sect, salafism, which insist that Shia are not muslim. Even other Sunni have problems with them, and I heard it from one of my Sunni friends (yes, as Shia I have a couple of Sunni friends, who accept and respect me and I accept and respect them) He then said in times of prophet there was no Sunni or Shia, so again, there is no real difference. We are all muslims. And extremists don’t like that.
Dear Muslims, please take a moment and read this, The real Muslim be is Shia or Sunni follows the Quran before anything, and believe in Muhammed (pbuh) as a final messenger. We all agree right? But we have our differences in what follows. Here’s my message to my fellow Sunni brothers and sisters: Please don’t accuse Shia of harming themselves, because doing so is the same as the Media accusing Muslims of terrorism. Those who hurt themselves are NOT practicing Islam right. Same with Extremists on the news who claim to be Muslim yet do Haram things. Please, please educate yourself on the real meaning of Shia and their interpretation of the successor before judging the behaviors of current wrongly human practices. Islam is never understood from a person, it’s learnt from the Quran. Same goes with the studies of Shia. Learn it by the papers, by the history, not what people say or do. Don’t fall into the same mistake as others misinterpreting Islam. Above all, we are all one.
We (Sunni + Shias) should learn something from Saudi Arabia and Iran that because of their proxy war in Syria and Yemen based on Sunni Shite sect, the outcome was only bloodshed and nothing else. The first thing that Almighty Allah want us to learn something from this. One most important thing is here that it’s Jews and US who wants us to divide. Otherwise, we are one,we was one and we will be one. Now, difference in some beliefs and practices; solemnising more festivals/grief’s can’t make us different.
I’m catholic and I already knew this, but never expected it to be such a small and simple reason for the divide. In Christianity the differences are so big while in Islam the differences are so small. Another thing I’d like to say is that I notice that the divide is more politically motivated rather than spiritually.
Am not sunnis or shia or whatever am Muslim i pray 5 times a day i learn quran i love prophet Muhammad s.a.w that’s all i never heard anything like sunnis and shia am somalian and i was born Muslim in somalia we are all muslims no differences we believe in one god today’s the first day i heard this shia or sunni
Nor am I a sunni nor a shia this message is for all the Muslims who call themselves sunni or shia . In the last sermon of our beloved prophet Muhammad saw he said that there are no tribes or sects in my ummah and that help the weak with what you have choose what you eat wear etc for your brother and that all Muslims are brothers . It is a very big sin to divide yourself with these things called shia and sunni . Think it all yourself what was done was done according to the will of Allah subhanutaala so don’t fight over it because we don’t know better than Allah. It is the shaitan that has developed a concept like this among Muslims . Let me tell you guys a story 1400 years ago . One day one Ansari and muhajir had a fight so the Ansari called all the Ansari by saying that come all Ansar and the muhagir called all the muhagireen and when our prophet heard the noise and came out and do you know what did our prophet called it he called it the work of jahil.
I love my shia brothers and sisters, unless they fall into a common thought of the Shias. Hating/disrespecting/not loving the Sahaba is a common practice of Shias. Allah SWT has praised the Sahaba in the Quran on multiple occasions, so who are you to not love who Allah SWT loves, forget about disrespecting them. May Allah SWT guide us all to the straight path. Ameen.
Shiaism is the “Christian Branch” of Islam, Jesus had Twelve Disciples, Shias have twelve Imams. Shias claim that man is not pure enough to have direct contact with Allah (Azzawajal) but their Imams are pure and Massume. And only through their imams can one have contact with Allah (Azzawajal) and have salvation. This is exactly the Christian belief. Their belief is that Man is not good enough to have direct contact with God and only through Jesus one can reach God and have salvation. Jesus was crucified, three days later he came back and then he went to Heaven and will come back again later on. This is the Christian theology. The Shias have a very similar belief about their 12th Imam. They call it “Qaibat Asghar and Qaibat Akbar,” “short absence and long absence.” of their 12th Imam. Their 12th Imam disappeared, he came back three days later and he disappeared again and will come back before the end of time. Disciples of Jesus were going around curing sick and making blinds to have their sights back, miracles. Shia believe the same. They make a pilgrimage to the grave of their Imams to ask them for Cure “Shaffa,” They swear by Allah that they know of people who were born Blind and got their sights back through the interference of their Imam. The only difference is that the disciples of Jesus were showing miracles while they were alive whereas the Imams of Shia make miracles from their graves. Candle lighting is another practice of Shia that is a copy of Christianity. In short, the side practices of the theology of Shiaism are pure Shirk.
Correction: shia believe that only God appoints the ultimate leader of the Muslims, just like He chose the prophets, the messengers and the chosen disciples. Sunnis don’t. There are historical proof, in both Sunni and Shia books, that Ali ibn abu Talib was chosen by God to lead the Muslims (as an all round leader, not prophet), and that the prophet has communicated that many times. But sunnis don’t interpret them the same way shias do. That’s the actual difference. AJ+ you’re spreading the usual political narrative that’s been used for so long to spread sectarianism between Muslims. If it’s unintentional then please correct your sources and redo this clip.
I as shia i believe in one god and the our holy prophet Muhammad and the holy quran. And i even respect all caliphates and all wifes of prophets too. If there were problems at time let the Allah judge on the Judgement day but not us. The ignorance comes from some salafi and extrem shia preachers that producing miss information. I know there are some innovation in shia but i am against some of them.
Too everyone it may seem as it started from a disagreement over who is the going to be the new leader, but this is wrong a lot of Shias are not even Muslim ( they say they are but their beliefs are completely wrong and obscured, to suit their minds) Sunnis are the only true Muslim, Sunni is a short form for Ahlus Sunnah wal Jamaah which means adherence to the sunnah( teaching of the prophet(pbuh) ) and the followers(referring to the companion of the prophet (pbuh)), which is the true teachings of Islam. Shias are spreading deception amongst the people, they believe that the companions of the prophet(pbuh) usurped the leadership position when there are so many evidence against it.
(6:159 – Quran) “Those who divide themselves into sects do not belong with you. Their judgment rests with GOD, then He will inform them of everything they had done.” Please people, yes we can disagree, but remember we all are human. We all are muslims! be kind og good to each other! Love is the teaching of Prophet Muhammad (pbup&hf). Work for unity!
Prophet Muhammad elected his first cousin hazrat Ali to be his successor, there is famous saying too by prophet Muhammad man kunto maula fa haza Ali Un maula in English it means whoveved consider me as maula has to consider Ali too. Hazrat Ali is also called the lion of Allah and he was married to prophet Muhammad’s daughter Fatima u can verify its the true story
“And hold firmly to the rope of Allah all together and do not become divided. And remember the favor of Allah upon you – when you were enemies and He brought your hearts together and you became, by His favor, brothers. And you were on the edge of a pit of the Fire, and He saved you from it. Thus does Allah make clear to you His verses that you may be guided.” – 3:103 We all are Muslims; no more Shia or Sunni. Together we are Stronger. Assalamu Alaikkum Everyone.
Hadith 3713 (who ever I am his mawla Ali is his mawla) therefore the Sunnis should’ve believe as imam Ali as their leader and who’s hands was raised in ghadir kumn. And musnad ahmad 922 was prophet Muhammad (SAWA) saying his the best man after him as a friend. The word “mawla” does not go into musnad ahmad 922. And it’s not clear for us Shias to say Abu bakr is a leader with the word “best”
2:140. Or are you saying that indeed, Ibrahim, Ismael, Ishaaq, Ya’qoob, and the tribes were Jews or Christians? You ask: “Are you the best knower or Lord Allah?” Who is more unjust than the one who concealed the Witness with him? While Allah is not heedless of whatever you are doing. Today the odd believer should say the Arabic Quran reading Fujjar who are differentiated into many groups: “Indeed, Ibrahim, Ismael, Ishaaq, Ya’qoob, Muhammad and their believing followers were following Adhikr which is the only Way satisfied by the Three-Time-Knower Lord from the beginning to the last. Any Fujjar if hides the Witness, Guide, and Mercy (Adhikr) after receiving, then Fire is promised to him as told in verse 11: 17. Both the Lord and Adhikr are mentioned as the great Witness in verse 6: 19. Those who don’t judge in his individual, family, and social life with Adhikr, are the disbelievers, wrongdoers, and transgressors as told in verses 5: 44, 45, and 47 respectively. Today Adhikr is the Witness from the Lord for entire worlds. So, whoever hides and rejects It, is the most unjust. That is why it is told that Trust Adhikr is revealed to punish the hypocritical men and women as well as Mushrik men and women as told in verses 33: 72-73. These Mujirim people are serving Satan since they have forgotten Adhikr and Lord as told in verses 7: 40 and 36: 59-62. These worthless wrongdoers are the fuel of the Fire from mankind as told in verses 3: 10; 48: 6 and 98: 6. They are denoted as the worst creatures who don’t hear Adhikr and talk about It as told in verse 8: 22.
Of course that’s the origin story of the divide, but today’s Sunni-Shia schism is rooted in geopolitics, pretty much the same as the Catholic-Orthodox divide: back in the 1500s, the Safavid dynasty made Shiaism the official religion of Iran as an opposition to the rest of the Islamic world, so that —through differentiating Iranians from other Muslims— they could revive the Persian empire; which they successfully did. As a result, only Iranians or former Iranian terrorists (Iraq, northern Azerbaijan, Bahrain, Yemen, etc.) practice Shiaism today.
The question that arises is how the Prophet Muhammad may God’s prayers and peace be upon him and his family, who is the most knowledgeable of the people, how he did not appoint a successor for the Muslims after him? Knowing that people have asked him even about how to enter the bathroom, and how to perform ablution many many times, so how can they not ask him about the fate of Muslims after his death? the answer is that they asked him and of course it is impossible that the prophet would leave such an important decision which is who will be the successor of the Muslims after him to the people, but rather appointed Imam Ali who is his cousin, and his daughter’s husband the Lady of the Women of Paradise (Lady Fatima al-Zahra). The evidence is what happened in Ghadeer Khum when the Prophet raised the hand of Imam Ali and said:any one whom iam his leader then Ali is his leader, ((((Allah is my leader (mawla) and I am the leader (mawla) of the faithful and I have superior right on and control over their lives, and Ali is the mawla of those of whom I am mawla, he said it three times,The Holy Prophet then continued to say: “O’ God, love those who love him, and be hostile to those who are hostile to him”. Once the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him and his household) completed his speech this verse of the Holy Quran was revealed to him,{Today I have perfected your religion and completed my favor upon you, and I am satisfied that Islam be your religion})))). ■Now as for the Sunnis, they follow people who did not follow the commandment of the Prophet Muhammad may God’s prayers and peace be upon him and his family, and they distinguished between Muslims.
