What Astrology’S Waxing Moon Phase Signifies?

The lunar phases of the moon are a significant aspect of our lives, with each phase offering unique interpretations. The New Moon is a time for new beginnings, setting intentions, and initiating projects. The Waxing Crescent is a phase of determination where ideas start to manifest, while the First Quarter presents challenges as opportunities for growth. The Waxing Gibbous is the final stretch of completing a project, marking the end of the waxing phase before the full moon.

The Waxing Crescent Moon is often seen in the western sky after sunset, symbolizing a time of growth, intention, and renewal. It is a time where the initial steps towards the full illumination of the Full Moon are visible, reflecting a period of development and progression in the lunar cycle. A waxing moon at birth suggests a life marked by growth, learning, and accumulation, mirroring the increasing light.

The Waxing Gibbous Moon phase is a time for reflection, reflecting on life lessons learned and internal growth. The Waxing Gibbous Moon represents a time of refinement and preparation, as the Moon continues to grow and more of its surface is visible. The waxing moon’s energy is overt, outward, and expanding, encouraging individuals to spring forth and finish what needs to be done.

In summary, the eight lunar phases offer unique interpretations for individuals born under different birth charts. The Waxing Gibbous Moon is the last “growth” or waxing phase before the full moon, marking the end of the waxing phase and the beginning of the final phase of the lunar cycle. These phases are crucial for personal growth, personal development, and the fulfillment of goals.

According to Vedic Astrology, the Moon represents mental power, prosperity, mother, happiness, femininity and beauty, mind, and water. What does the waning waxing moon symbolize?

The Luna, also known as the half moon or sickle of the moon, is a symbol of fertility and life and death in many religions. It represents changing seasons, ebb and tide, and the feminine menstrual cycle. The half moon was originally associated with Luna and Selene, but later transferred to Diana, the offspring of the earth mother. The moon symbol is used in biblical references to highlight cosmic events, divine epiphanies, and the ephemeral nature of human life and history.

In Patristic times, the symbol of the moon, or the mysterium lunae, represented the Church (ecclesia), which is virginal, lifegiving, and resplendent in its grace-filled existence. John the Baptist is sometimes connected with the waning moon to explain his role as the last prophet of the Old Testament and a promise of the New Testament. The moon contrasts with the sun as a symbol of fulfillment, specifically Jesus Christ, and is also associated with ecclesia and synagoga.

How does a waxing moon affect you?

As the moon approaches the new moon phase, it’s time to start focusing on your goals and ambitions. The waxing phase can be a powerful motivator, driving you to complete tasks and refine your skills. However, it’s important to channel this energy and focus on self-care during downtime, such as a relaxing bath, a chill night with friends, and extended skincare practices.

A full moon, which is at opposite points in the lunar cycle, can bring on heightened emotions and a release of energy. You may experience dramatic mood swings and anxiety due to the energy. Despite not being an issue during the new moon, restlessness may occur during the full moon. It’s important to take a beat, acknowledge the intensity of the highs and lows, and reflect on positive things.

As the moon retreats towards the new phase, the energy becomes less intense, allowing you to slow down and give more time to your inner thoughts. This period can be considered the spring cleaning, decluttering phase, where you focus on what sparks joy for you emotionally, physically, or spiritually and let go of things that no longer apply. This allows new beginnings to take shape, getting you ready for the new moon period to start all over again.

  • Balsamic moon baby here, and after a series of intense but disastrous attempts at starting relationships, I discovered how much I do love my own company. It’s much safer of course, and I’m working on shedding the fear of opening up again, but I have genuinely enjoyed my solitude in the meantime. I really don’t need to be partnered romantically to feel whole. Which I never would have guessed as a teenager because I’ve been obsessed with romance my whole life. I still am actually but feeling whole in and of one’s self is a wonderful thing. I’ve always known I was an old soul, and one of my favorite things is hunkering down in cold weather months in front of a fire and writing with my furbabies around me… So yeah nailed it for me! 😄🌘💫

  • Such an illuminating article! I’m a Waxing Gibbous moon baby and I was not expecting to resonate so much with it! I srsly love observing little details and piecing things together in order to understand its system. It’s like second nature to me to analyze people, situations and everything! The garden analogy was perfect haha. I do exactly that whenever I pass by my plants.

  • Balsamic baby here 😬 I feel like, nobody can be doomed to constant breakups just because of the moon phase right? If you have other things in your chart that show a desire for stability, and long term love, I’m sure you can learn to let go in other ways. Maybe a relationship grows stronger as you continually learn to let go of things that keep you from staying with anyone for too long. I just need to bend this to my will lol, because long term love and friendship is something I work hard to invite into my life. Editing*** also if you read this let me know your thoughts! I value your knowledge a lot, but when I heard the balsamic moon stuff whOo it felt like a ton of bricks lol. My moon is in the 7th, and Venus in Taurus, aaaand Pisces sun (aaaand Pisces stellium), love is so important to me and stability is,,, ahhhhh all I’ve been working toward in my life recently! Lol I’ve already lost so many times dude I just want 🥲 some gosh darn hope

  • Waning Crescent Moon Baby hereeee and wowww this resonated so deeply! I definitely struggle with letting people and situations go but it makes sense that Is something I am meant to learn during this lifetime. Thank you so much for sharing your wisdom! I shed, I reflect, I let go, I love that, thank you!

  • I AM a Full Moon baby 🌕 in Gemini ♊ Sun 🌞 in Scorpio ♏ and ♎ Libra ⬆️ But everything you said about full moon babies is so accurate as it pertains to me. I felt that inner conflict but I’ve learned to balance that conflict into harmony and I love and know how to help and understand people on a individual basis. ❤

  • Thank you so much for this description of the balsamic Moon. I was born 3 days and 3 hours before the next new Moon and I identify myself with all what you said. And like just to go with my Moon, my Saturn is in the 12 house in Sagitarious and my Sun is in Piscis in the 3rd. house. So yes, I´m a hermit and I´ve all my life felt like I don´t belong to this world !!! Blessings !!!

  • This was so informative and just what I needed to hear ! Like a confirmation . Sun in Aries moon in libra when I got more interested in astrology I noticed how opposing these signs were Which made me think maybe this is why I feel conflicted between loving humanity and wanting to shed light be around others collaborate etc but I also crave being alone and absolutely don’t want to be around people and have nothing to do w humanity at all 😫😂 then I thought one day was I born on a full moon because things tend to get a lil wacky on a full moon Did my research and boom it added on and it made sense how I feel as I was definitely born on a full moon

  • I am a Leo Sun Scorpio moon so thanks for using that example. Fun fact, I discovered my birth moon phase this year and turns out it’s my favorite moon phase. Def not a coincidence. Additionally, for anyone needing to discover their moon phase at birth. You can look this up by using your ; date, time, and geological location of birth…

  • Makes sense that you’re a full moon baby, which reminds me of being a Libra rising (learning about life through a series of oppositions). I’m a Waning Gibbous baby, and your interpretation resonates significantly for this Libra Rising (+ Venus + Mercury, + Sun) and Gemini moon & mars. I’m a writer who started off as an elementary school teacher and have absolutely had a crazy life and been told I’m a wonderful storyteller. You are too! Love your content and your energy– thank you for inspiring me to start my own website 🙂

  • Dear Haley you might have to change the last phase name to Waning crescent(balsamic)?:) I got pretty confused. And yes this article really is so present in my life. Closure isnt easy for me, and ive had so many intense relationships. Letting go is just soo hard. Alone time not easy too. But hermitting has been happening naturally lately.

  • Third quarter baby here. My moon is at 12 degree Aquarius in the 8th house. My moon is highly influential as a cancer rising and everything you mentioned is spot on and it makes sense bc I’ve always felt that about my moon. It really does impact my intuition, meditation practice and my spiritual self.

  • I’m a balsamic moon baby and honestly this hits really hard bc I have a very hard time moving forward and being ok with ending things/changes. I also have my moon conjunct my Saturn and a Taurus Stellium.. letting go is one of the hardest things for me. I have been in a long term relationship for 4 years now and honestly it’s been time for me to let go of it but everytime i try, I end up right back with him for no reason.. I just don’t know how to do it. I also have had something weighing me down since 2019.. my father completely disrespected me and assaulted me.. he’s lied and lost 100% of my respect and trust and as much as I’ve tried to let it go, I cannot, it hurts me and he disgusts me as a person and father. I will never look at him the same and if I’m being frank, I don’t care for him anymore.

  • Libra Sun 29° Taurus Moon 3° The balance I need has never been realer 😂 Important people come into my life, yes. I’ve always been in a duo when it came to pursuing my passions or even things I just wanted to try. My network is large. Far away friendships & connections too! I do think I stay in certain spaces too long. I’m finally accepting myself. Learning all these things about myself, whether it be natal chart, human design, personality type, it all correlates & makes me feel less apologetic for who & how I am. I do not want to become bored with a life so young 🌕💖🌕

  • It’s funny all the points that you stated about the full moon babies. Because I am working with a colt which was born on the pink super moon this year, I was hoping to maybe understand how to work with him because Since he was born he has just been the silliest, most rambunctious colt I have EVER worked with, and I watched this article to see if it could give me any insight on why he acts this way and it seemed to help thanks!

  • Hello~ i’m a natal waxing crescent moon with Sagittarius in true node so that image of the archer with it’s bow really called to me. I think my crescent is closer to new moon than full on crescent as I have always had a very hard time going for my objectives and holding on to project for long (plus I have ADHD… Talk about getting bored easily..) But I will try the project board when I have a safe space to grow in. (I’m in a bit of a spot rn..)

  • I’m a third quarter moon and I did all the serving, sacrificing, giving, being a punching bag and being there for people when I was younger but it just left me drained and burned out now im heading towards the materialism because no one was willing to do the same for me, especially being there for me at key points in my life. I’m done with that.

  • I am loving your content! What about natal birth on an eclipse?? I was born on a lunar eclipse. 😅 I’ve read about ways this can manifest… Roman Polanski is a fellow lunar eclipse baby and seems to be a good case study that I resonate with (with his amount of life upheaval). Combined with the yod and stellium in my chart, I feel like I’m constantly having major life activations. I’ll probably reach out to book a personalized reading, but if you see this – I’d love to see a article focused on these kinds of aspects, including the differences between solar and lunar eclipses!

  • Eyem a full moon baby 🍼 Scorpio sun Taurus moon 🌝 aquarius rising and oh boy what a ride very good with people but feel we could be used because we so sweet and that Taurus moon ohh boy talk about over kill in staying in a relationship 😂 stayed in a relationship for over a decade knowing it should have been done but wanted to check everything out then some sheesh 😂 great be article spot on just subbed liked😊💕

  • Waning crescent moon… it’s not really exciting to hear this but I knew I was born to die. I’m fine with solitude but I have little social experience in this lifetime at the age of 24. I’m just now dating for the first time this year and my girlfriend has kids so that makes it even better to me because I thought I would always be alone. I get it though. I’m interested and seeking deep spiritual knowledge to sustain my will in the afterlife. My curiosity sparked early because of the significance that death had before me. I feel like throwing up right now. I guess it is what it is 🐍 Question: Do we have anything to offer at all? Anything we can gravitate to for creating change and healing?

  • This is very eye opening and the most insightful material I’ve seen on natal moon placements. and so flattering for my new Moon lol. it’s interesting because all of my planets are in the 6th house & sign through the 10th taking up a little over 100 degrees. My rising is 29 degrees Pisces but I do have a Taurus North Node I’m striving toward or trying to embrace. Chiron in Gemini and Lilith in Aries (tho one of the Liliths is at 28 degrees and the other 1 degrees Aries) well I say this because new Moon energy sounds so obviously Arien and other early sign and house essence. It dawned a light when you described me as you did cuz it’s true lol there is a strong streak of young at heart. There are other factors of my chart of course, but anyway I appreciate the ideas and inspiration. I am wondering if the fact the Moon is new in Scorpio softens it. I have a stellium in Scorpio and a stellium in the 7th house with my Libra Sun leaking in at 4 degrees with the Moon, Venus and Pluto at 0/1 degrees Scorpio in the same house. Saturn & South Node Scorpio in the 8th after. So I’ve struggled with how to not be scorpionic and naturally staved off a lot of the threats but I am still stuck far from mastering Taurus NN self-sufficiency. I did give myself permission to pursue my art & other dream businesses a few months ago though. I have so much to share besides art but I have a secret plan I guess to serve the truth with a side of rainbow sugar (indelible and inedible) so I guess that’s my Scorpio naughtiness lol But I spent years learning how to be human and spirit on Earth, how to reverse diseases & disorders and so many magical cures, treasures and realities that I doubted existed til I understood it in enough ways it became simple and clear.

  • Waxing Crescent Gemini Moon, Pisces Sun, Taurus Rising, Aquarius Midheaven/Spirit Lot (?), Scorpio North Node….vision board, archery, do! (still wading through some I dunno outer planet stuffs but continuously lighting that match in the downpour, along with current collective Saturn in Pisces for a few years) And a Jupiter in the 12th house, Mercury and Venus in the 10th in Aquarius…

  • I am exactly a new moon baby, born on 22nd October 2006,however I don’t at all feel like being a Libra; I am born on a cusp and I very strongly feel to be a scorpio,I have been told that by many people so many times . So,yeah I am born on under a new moon and I am a Scorpio because I just want to be myself, neither signs of being a Libra nor do I want to be a Libra.I even feel to be affected by ADHD,as my mood swings are very high and almost always I require alone time to restore my energy as I sometimes feel drained because my sensitivity towards other peoples opinions and thoughts etc..

  • Waning gibbous, born 2 days after the full moon so I hope this is correct. It is very fitting as far as your description but I do have my moon in Pisces in the 9th house and my Venus in cancer in the 12th and some of what you were saying can be attributed to these things as well. On some calculators it said full moon but others it said waning gibbous, why did you start the waning gibbous at least 3 days out from the full moon? Just curious.

  • Shedding my skin is my middle name. (Waning crescent moon in virgo, conjunct north node and mercury) with scorpio rising and scorpio venus haha. Letting go is hard but it’s kind of all that’s happened sadly, some come back though but idk I am usually over it by then and I don’t really see the point of staying in contact anymore. Usually takes me a lot to completely “give up” on someone though but when I do it’s rare to ever see them again.

  • Omg thats why I feel I need fredom, I have a scorpio moon in vedic but in tropical I have a sagi moon, but I dont relate to my tropical chart except some traits from the sagi moon but now I know why I feel like that! And I def love to teach people and experience things, but on the other side of comminucating my mercury is in retrograde, Dont get me wrong I love to talk but sometimes it can be hard :/ And my saturn is in gemini to make it worster lol
