Yup, me too …. I have had so many Acurite transmitter failures (with good batteries) over the years where the transmitter either just stops transmitting OR looses sync to the receivers. I have to wonder if the transmitters are just going off frequency and the receivers can not pick them up. All the receivers report a strong signal and then no signal at all while the transmitter still reports it is transmitting via the led indicator. Then it takes me forever to try to re-sync the units back again …. What a pain they are.
I just took mine apart based on your article and found nothing internal wrong with it. But I did have green corrosion on the spring contacts. I gave them a good scraping with a screwdriver and put it back together, now its working. The corrosion is between the spring and the metal contact below it. I put it back together with dielectric silicon grease on all 4 contact points to hopefully prevent future corrosion. Take a really close at the spring wire contact area joint to the base metal and look for corrosion.
