What Became Of The Accurite Hub?

The AcuRite Access has been discontinued due to a critical internal component being discontinued by the supplier, leading to the end of service and support for the My AcuRite smartHUB. This means that after September 1, 2018, the smartHUB will no longer be able to publish to My AcuRite. After reviewing feedback and speaking with several customers, the end of service/support for the AcuRite smartHUB has been extended until February 28, 2019.

AcuRite Connection Devices (AcuRite Access, smartHUB, PC Connect) are stand-alone devices that receive readings from AcuRite indoor and outdoor monitoring sensors and send sensor readings to My AcuRite and Weather Underground over its network (internet). The AcuRite Access was launched as a next-generation hub upgrade, allowing users to connect their sensors to My AcuRite for environmental monitoring. AcuRite Technical issued an apology letter, extended the support deadline, and provided existing customers with a voucher for the AcuRite Access®, PC Connect Display, or Direct to Wi-Fi Display (Connection Device), which reports AcuRite sensor data over the Internet to allow remote monitoring.

AcuRite claims that the hub will no longer support full functionality of myacurite.com, but the new hub will not function. Each AcuRite Access can connect up to 7 compatible sensors, and adding more AcuRite Access units increases the number of allowable sensors.

AcuRite’s Smart Hub sends email notifications and text alerts if there is a significant change in weather that users should know about. The AcuRite Smart Hub is compatible with Amazon Alexa, allowing users to monitor actual weather conditions in their backyard from anywhere using their smartphone, tablet, or computer.

Why is My AcuRite offline?

If the Iris® sensor doesn’t update on the My AcuRite® Dashboard within 10 minutes, follow these steps: Click Stop Sharing in the PC Connect software, disconnect your display, wait a minute, reconnect it, ensure your Device ID and/or Weather Underground Station ID and Station Key are entered correctly, click Share Now under My AcuRite® and/or Weather Underground, and allow up to 10 minutes for your station to return online. For MAC users, review PC Connect for MAC End of Life, submit a request, or chat with Live Agents.

Why is My AcuRite display not detected?

To guarantee the security of your indoor display, it is essential to establish a stable and secure USB connection between your computer and the display. To do so, open the PC Connect software, enable the “Sharing to My AcuRite®” option, and allow the transfer of sensor readings to your account. Furthermore, it is essential to ascertain that the 12-character Device ID entered into the software is identical to the Device ID displayed on the display.

Why is my SmartHub not connecting to Internet?

In order to rectify an internet connection issue, it is necessary to unplug both ends of the Ethernet cable, inspect its length, and then attempt to utilise a different cable. Once the cable has been reconnected, it is essential to ascertain that it is firmly attached to both the Arlo SmartHub/Base Station and the Wi-Fi router. It is imperative to ascertain that the LEDs on the router are illuminated following the connection of the cable. In the event that this is not the case, it is recommended to proceed directly to step 4.

Why can’t i find the sensor on My AcuRite weather station?

The AcuRite Access® may not have available sensors due to various reasons, including sensor distance, lack of power, interference with radio reception, and the device being unpowered or without a network connection. Sensors should be no more than 330 feet away, have no power, and be located at least 3 feet away from noisey electronic devices. Avoid locations near large stone, concrete, or metallic surfaces.

  • This is a good start. Now the question is now that Acurite has ended support for the discontinued Internet Gateway, how can one reconfigure the old hardware to deliver data to wunderground? The new AcuriteAccess has a local web page where wunderground credentials can be entered. But Acurite can also configure remotely.

  • Acurite has shut down the smarthub, but ONLY to acurite it appears. Still sending data to Weather Underground! I could care LESS about the Acurite page. All I want is the weather underground link. That is still working even though acurite shut their part down at midnight 2/28. Acurite made everyone think the entire thing would stop working. Probably so they could get everyone to upgrade and take our money. Too bad for them. I already bought an ambient weather station to replace it, and LOVE it! Works in the 900 mhz range and has MUCH better reliability and range than the smarthub. PLUS has many features the acurite does not.

  • I can’t get my accurate to sync thru the access method to them to show on an iPhone app. I’ve been very disappointed in the way they do it, and have given up on trying to sync to my app. I’ve always had a positive impression of acurite, but either my PC, my Mac nor my iPhone will let me in to set-up acurite to sync with my app. I wish you had some good advice on how this could be done better.

  • Thanks, really useful article. Has acurite changed the way they publish the data since this article? I cant seem to get any HTTP posts or GETs to show in my packet capture . I am using wireshark and all i see coming from my hub are ARPs with data that i cannot decypher? It is posting the data to WU.Thanks.

  • Interesting post. I opted for a unit that does not send info to weatherunderground. If I understand this article than the hub is receiving the data directly from the 5 in sensor and sending it on to weatherunderground. Rather than having the data consol plugged into a usb port on a pc and sending the data? If I’m correct than I could send data to WU from my 5 in 1 sensor via the smart hub alone instead of using the data consol being plugged into a pc via usb port?

  • Just wonder if you know about the hub corrupting router by stopping access from pc, laptop etc. randomly. Acurite tells us to contact router man. to change settings (which ones they don’t say) and manufactures don’t know either. Acurite will not accept return if you mount 5 in 1 outside. There isn’t much wind and rain to measure inside. Ripoff company.
