What Does Astrology Call An Interception?

Interceptions in astrology refer to the phenomenon where a planet is placed within a zodiac sign but is not actually present in that sign in the sky. This can happen when a sign covers more than 30 degrees and is completely enclosed in one of the houses. An intercepted sign is weakened, and it is in an area where the cusp at the beginning is in the previous sign and the cusp at the end.

Intercepted signs can negatively affect the native, but there is deeper meaning to be found. In the horoscope of a person, an intercepted sign shows a blockage, making it difficult to access and express the qualities of that particular sign. It is like a room in your house that can only be reached. When a sign is completely swallowed up by a house, never touching a house cusp, it is said to be “intercepted”.

Intercepted houses are when there are three signs in one house. They are often considered problematic, as they represent what we were told was not healthy or righteous to be, even though we are those intercepted energies. Interceptions in astrology can have a significant impact on the native’s life and can lead to negative consequences.

In summary, interceptions in astrology involve a sign being completely enclosed in one of the houses and not appearing on the cusp of a house. These signs can negatively affect the native and their ability to access and express the qualities of a particular sign. Understanding the significance of interceptions in astrology can help individuals navigate their lives and make informed decisions about their lives.

  • Hi…thank you for the info. I have a question about my chart if u don’t mind…I am a leo with Capricorn ascendant 27 degrees and Capricorn 12th, Aquarius is completely intercepted in my 1rst house and half of Pisces. I have my south node in the first as well in aquarius. I have my sun and north node intercepted in my 7th house. Mercury in cancer in 6th and moon in the 12th. Mars Jupiter and Saturn in my 8th, Pluto in my 9th, Venus in 5th, Neptune in 11 and midheaven 18 degrees Scorpio conjunct stationary Uranus 21 degrees…how would u interpret that. There are so many complex things going on that I am lost.

  • Reality in a way is where we live in. To think or sume that the people who live at any other area of the planet earth than the exact ecuator and certain longitude are traumatized or with inherent difficulties in their lives, restrictions or dormant inhibited energies is totally not only unfair and insulting, but it will be as considering them all with problematic lifes on top of their regular squares/oppositions, etc. I always found that very troubling! I believe that houses are not as estricktly important; what matters most is the planet/sign relationship. Am I right? Why did they come up with all the different house systems? Where were they trying to get?

  • HI there. Thanks for this vid! i’ve been trying to get my head around intercepted signs for some time now. What happens when a planet sits in an intercepted sign? My Jupiter sits in Aries which is intercepted inside the 11th house. I’ve heard this is unfortunate because Jupiter can’t express. Shame it’s Jupiter!!! Thanks for any advice!!

  • hey i thought the true house system was an equal house system and my question is in equal house system my fifth house is in taurus and my north node is ther but in the other house system my fifth house is in gemini and my north node are in the fourth house so how can i figure out which house my north node is in

  • So my AC is in Sagittarius in the 12th house and my 1st house is Capricorn then is it intercepted? bc I always look at Capricorn riding articles for me and they make a lot more sense yet on every single site I do my natal chart on they all say sag is my rising/ascendant. I’m confused about what this even means. It fits me because I am spiritual and I love to travel and learn but capircorn really fits more.

  • Intercepted houses show where, in past lives, you have misused the positive qualities of the sign and the house. Example: intercepted 1st in Sag. (should be Cap.) and it’s opposite, intercepted 7 in Gem. (should be Cancer) Definition: 1st – not self (1st) diciplined (Saturn) 7th – not nurturing (Cancer) to others (7th).
