What Does Astrology Say About The Health Of My Mother?

Health or medical astrology is a powerful tool that helps individuals understand their health and potential health issues. The placement of planets in various houses determines the nature of an individual’s health, and readings are used to determine the severity of illnesses and the remedies. Jyotish (Vedic astrology) provides profound insights into health, as well as techniques to time potential health issues and mitigate them.

The rising sign, ascendant, ascendant lord, Sun, and Moon are the most important aspects that determine how healthy one is born and how they will maintain their health. Planetary combinations leading to death or misfortune can kill the mother early. If born when the Moon is in the 2nd House, the mother will die soon, and the father too will not live long.

Health astrology can help individuals understand their body’s strengths and weaknesses, and how to prevent or cope with health issues. Each sign, planet, and aspect plays a role in understanding these patterns and their implications for personal wellness.

A native’s mother’s health will always remain unwell, and she needs to seek medical attention round the year. Predicting a mother’s health based on a birth chart is challenging, as it depends on the type of mother and the parents’ birth/natal charts.

An astrology chart serves as a roadmap for life, helping individuals determine their strengths and weaknesses. Rudra ashtakam, Maha mritunjay mantra, and Ram Raksha can help manage volatile emotions and improve overall health.

Which planet gives long life?

The malefic planets in the 2nd and 12th houses can cause death, with the 7th house lord becoming a stronger maraka if it owns a trika-bhava (the 6th, 8th, or 12th house counted from the lagna). Malefic planets acquire the power to kill when associated with the 8th, 2nd, or 7th house or their lords. The dashas of the marakas can bring about death, and the lord of 12th and planet in the 12th bring about death when all else has failed.

Satan is the prime effective maraka to cause death when it is malefic and associated with planets causing death or with the lord of the 3rd or 11th house. Saturn situated in the 6th house prolongs life, and death can occur in the dasha of a weak benefic planet occupying the 8th house or the lord of the lagna can give yoga and kill the native.

The Amsayurdaya method is used for calculating longevity, while the Naisargika Ayurdaya method is required for strong Moons. The 8th house from the lagna is the house of longevity, and the 12th house counted from the 3rd and 8th houses are the marakasthanas (death-inflicting houses). The lords of the 2nd and 7th are designated as the principal Marakas (inflictors of death or killers).

Maraka means the one that causes death at the end of a life-span or causes ill-health. For Aries lagna, Venus is the maraka, while Mars, Moon, Mercury, and Mars are the marakas for Taurus lagna, Gemini lagna, Cancer and Leo lagnas, Venus for Virgo lagna, Mars for Libra lagna, Scorpio lagna, Venus and Saturn for Sagittarius lagna, Mars, Moon, and Jupiter for Capricorn lagna, Sun, Mars, and Jupiter for Aquarius lagna, and Mercury and Saturn for Pisces lagna.

A Maraka does not kill in its own antra-dasha in the dasa of a benefic planet but does so in its antra-dasha the dasha of a malefic. Death generally occurs during the antra-dasha of the lords of the trikabhavas in the dasha of a maraka.

What is the mother energy in the birth chart?

The birth chart often equates the moon with the mother, as it represents our emotional perception of her. The moon is deeply charged and represents ties to our karmic past, family history, roots, and ancestry. It also forms our instinctive emotional framework, which influences our instantaneous reactions. Our lunar nature develops from birth to age seven, and our lunar reactions and interactions form our sense of self.

Ceres represents the mother from a tactile nurturing aspect. In Roman mythology, Ceres is the goddess of the harvest, Prosperina’s mother. When Prosperina is kidnapped by Pluto, Ceres falls into depression, halting crop harvesting. This story represents the arrival of fall and winter, as Ceres adjusts to her daughter’s absence for six months. Spring and summer are when Proserpina returns to her mother, nourishing the earth.

Both the moon and Ceres have dark sides. The moon can feel suffocating, emotionally enmeshed, and unable to have boundaries or individuality. Ceres, on the other hand, is overbearing and controlling, unable to provide the nurturing the child needs due to her bereft of her own nurturing. The archetypes go hand in hand, as the relationship with the mother will have an emotional component, but the physical act of nurturing must also be present and felt on an emotional level.

The exhibition gallery showcases paintings from the Renaissance era, focusing on the bond between mother and son. The paintings depict Venus, the goddess of love, and her son Cupid, the god of desire, symbolizing purity and love. These paintings incorporate Catholic and Christian religions, and the Virgin Mary’s relationship with Jesus Christ. The paintings feature a repeating pattern of formal elements, with “Amor” referring to “Love” and Cupid’s purpose in life.

Cupid pulls on his mother’s garments for attention, with an arrow in his hand but not yet developing enough to achieve his bow. The dark background emphasizes Venus and Cupid, while brighter colors make the other elements more appealing. The gallery highlights the importance of motherhood and the relationship between mother and son in mythology.

How to see health problems in a birth chart?

Astrology focuses on the 6th house, which is the major house of diseases, and its affliction indicates a planetary combination for these diseases. If the occupant is weak or debilitated, they will suffer from specific medical issues. The 8th house is the house of surgery, and the 12th house shows hospitalization. Planets seen for health are the Moon, Sun, and the ascendant of a person. If these three are strong, a person is likely to enjoy good health, and vice versa.

The Sun signifies immunity, while the Moon represents mental and emotional health. A strong moon helps a person overcome obstacles in life and enjoy sound health. The ascendant, or personality, can be affected by malefic influence from planets like Saturn, Mars, Rahu, and Ketu. It is crucial to check the position of the 6th house and its lord to detect any medical issues present in a kundli. Health issues can be beyond repair or involve exorbitant expenses, and it is essential to get a health horoscope checked well in time.

Which house shows health in astrology?

Astrology systems typically divide the horoscope into twelve houses, known as Bhāvas in Hindu tradition. These houses represent different fields of experience, describing physical surroundings and personal life experiences. Each house is associated with a specific zodiac sign and planetary ruler. The first house represents the self, while the second house relates to personal possessions and finances. The third house pertains to communication and siblings, while the fourth house represents home and family.

The fifth house is associated with creativity and romance, while the sixth house relates to work and health. The seventh house represents partnerships and marriage, while the eighth house focuses on shared resources and transformation. The ninth house is associated with higher education and travel, while the tenth house represents career and public image. The eleventh house pertains to social networks and friendships, while the twelfth house represents spirituality and subconscious patterns.

Understanding these houses can provide insight into a person’s life and personality. House divisions depend on the rotational movement of Earth on its axis, and there are various approaches to calculating house divisions. In natal astrology, some astrologers may use a birth time set for noon or sunrise, but accurate interpretation is not expected.

  • It’s a very tough subject. Instead of children saying to parents, parents themselves have to realise these things and advise their children and other youngsters. This is from my personal experience. We are very fortunate that my parents went off at the ripe age of 88 & 93 without any panic. Ohm Namah Shivaya 🙏

  • 😭 my dad is old and very ill but stable thank God… i felt the urge five years ago to bring him to pilgrim places…. I didn’t know the importance i see in this article but something inside me pushed me to do it and I feel so proud today that we went together in these places and he could have a spiritual life until he couldn’t talk anymore

  • My father was in hospital knowing he was dying. He was in great pain. A war veteran of 6 years, a good man loved by his family. My bother and myself as his daughter, held vigil making sure he was never alone, holding his hand and rubbed his feet. I was with him the moment he willingly died, telling him the names of all family who loved him. In Australia and other cultures many daughters also can take the honour of being with our loved ones.

  • Today several of the old has no company of children or grandchildren. So it is for us to understand and accept the reality. Fortunately there are Sadgurus who give us the sage advice. When in youth one does not get the lessons, oldage may not help as one is accustomed of the sound and activities encompassing his life.🙏🙏🙏

  • I think in india the spiritual way sets in early.so most elders know that they will go soon even tho the children pretend to be cheerful.my mother had an operation and came home well but still she knew she was going and from a few years before she set her things right and gave away everything.i have learnt from her and working towards it.

  • His thoughts are a perfect combination of age old traditions in Hindu society and the new age reality. It is a great service he is doing to society and humankind by sharing his view on so many such topics which explain the reality of life and the way to look at it. God bless him and wish him all the best for spreading the light of this knowledge to the world. Though a practising Hindu, his thoughts are above any race or religion.

  • I have followed Sadhguru for almost three years. I have learned many things from him, actually he has caused that I open my eyes to the truths of life even some of them are scary. Although for a few months I stoped to watch his articles but again I started. This advice made me to break in tears because I have not seen my parents for more than ten years. Here with my broken heart but hope I asking of you that please send me your prayers, blessings and positive energy in order to Divine ( in any form or name you believe on) direct my steps to the right way that me and my parents happily see each other and I can hug them. Light and Peace

  • Totally agree that elders are trying to live a young person’s ideal life. To accept one’s advancing age and seek its particular lessons and fulfilment is very satisfying. Then one can very gradually detach from grasping the world, recognise what’s permanent and finally leave without painful regrets. Death is difficult to accept and spiritual practices are the only path that provides some relief.

  • Exactly 1 month ago my Father passed away. He lived his life with a smile, working hard every day, providing resources and happiness to us. Till his last breathe myself, my mother & Sister and our whole family stayed with me.He met almost all the people he knew .He left this world without falling ill and without suffering any pain. He was working, moving, laughing spend so much time with us. I feel so lucky that at the last moment of his life I was there with him.

  • I am sorry to say but nowadays the parent generation (60, 70,80yrs) is very very stubborn. Very very few are spiritually inclined. They want to go on enjoying life. Many of their attitude is that they will continue to live forever. There, if the son or daughter will go to remind them that their time has come and they should prepare — God help that son or daughter in law!! I am not talking about all, but a lot are like this. They go on clinging to material abundance. Very little vairagya.

  • Guruji we Indian parents, at least most of us are in the evolved mode. Lighting lamps, praying to god to give us a painless end and well being of our children and grand children, this is all our daily activities. It is ingrained in our being from childhood. we really don’t need our children to create that atmosphere. On the other hand our children create that atmosphere in their own way talking about will, nomination for the property, bank deposits etc now then, reminding us of our impending end. Please let us live our last days in some happiness, doing things that we want to do, traveling, painting, getting together with friends etc without all the time thinking about death After all nothing is in our hands. So there is no particular age when we can say ok, from tomorrow I’m going to prepare for my death..

  • People in Bharat are so lucky to naturally have this kind of spiritual knowledge about old age and death . Living in a western society, what I see is that even after 70 -80 years of age, they get engaged in dating, illicit physical relationships and then fighting . It is because their own children have no spiritual values either . Everything is based on materialism here that is very sickening.

  • Both parents terminal and both 95. Dog 15 slowly winding down. Everything is a living gratitude 🙏 and appreciation. And as the only son who can visit … its goid to have the chance to visit and be palliative care volunteer. Keeping everything okay. No fear. Even if afraid to last minute saying I do not want to die! Its just be here now. Calming them for now. It always helps. And its exhausting but essential to be there for each sentient beings.

  • Though I agree to prepare the mind and heart for the inevitable, I do believe that one should still live to enjoy themselves whether it’s enjoying a meal or the cinema because it’s an experience we get once while in this lifetime. My dad passed recently and we really thought he’d come home since it was a procedure the doctors promised would cure him and that didn’t happen. I hope he didn’t pass in terror but I do know he didn’t want to go nor was he or us prepared for the outcome. 💔

  • My father is 70.He has done everything, what he could do for us. One year ago I noticed him stalking a young girl from neighborhood.i ignored it initially.the girl comes at her rooftop for laundry everyday. She is easily visible from my rooftop. Now my father spends whole day at rooftop looking at her rooftop.whenever she passes by my house, he comes down to the street and wait till she returns.i tried to give him indication that I know about this, but it seems he doesn’t care. I didn’t wanna tell this to my maa but I realize that he is not going to give up.so I told my maa about this. Guess what.. She didn’t believe me and now had stop talking to me.

  • My family still practise those taboo, timid. Taboo to talk about death, even lie to our parents when he or her is gonna ok when they sick… I am sad… It is better let our parents mentally prepare and face for their passing in peace… we all have to face it.. one final day,we also have to face it…

  • At young age people have no surety of life . Should we stop living ….. “NO” At elderly, we cannot stop living as well and keep thinking now i am near death. Enjoy life knowing the fact that one day when there is a call from God we will embrace it gracefully as we did our duty, what was assigned to us by almighty !

  • I lost my father on 4th Nov.. exactly one month after I shifted bag baggage from Kolkata, and my bed ridden mother on 20th dec 21. Since then I hv started feeling tat nothing is predictable….why are people fighting for properties, money….when you hv to leave everything behind..that too.just any moment

  • My mum passed away from a heroin overdose when I was 15 years old, she had a lot of problems and I didn’t understand her at the time, I didn’t even think she liked me. 20 years later and only the past 5 years I’ve learned about her through a diary she kept which was mainly about me. Four children she had but she was to mentally unwell to look after me when I was born and I was dropped off on my Nan’s doorstep when I was a few days old. My mum visits me in dreams and I often have reoccurring nightmares of her house which I can’t understand why, it’s not something I constantly think about but I’m haunted by, maybe the trauma from her leaving this world so abruptly? I have lovely dreams of her speaking with me and When she has visited me she has told me things that I didn’t know so I know it wasn’t my own subconscious that made it up. I want to speak to her so. I want to know her 💔 How can I connect with her?

  • Guruji isn’t spirituality something that should come from within? If In all their 80-90 years of life they have not cared for anything beyond the physical body and materialistic wants is it easy for us children to show them spirituality even though we practice it day after day. For such people they may have chosen not to realise spirituality. What then can we do?

  • My father went peacefully in his sleep despite him knowing that he is leaving us.That is the best way to leave. He was the most beautiful human being I have met like my mother. He knew and I knew but I also knew it was his moment of choice. He knew at the age of 75 when I first explained to him.He was living only for me. He is a Saint according to me. I did all I could for him till his last breath.❤ He was happy and blessed me saying I did everything for him.

  • Nandri Sadhguru this is excellent and profound. I have always understood this at my core and always prepare for this. But unfortunately nowadays elders of indian origin living in foreign countries due to the diaspora are more concerned with botox and fillers skin lightening products fashion and make up well into their 70s. Every occasion is about partying and celebrating and dressing up & eating & drinking alcohol… decadence and indulgence travelling overseas to resorts for holidays et.c. they are so busy perusal soapies and dramas where is the time for sadhana meditation and going inward … half the time they in the beauty salons or on their whatsapp & facebook… only concern they have is to look younger and indulge in materialism. My 1 aunt every birthday every year she changes into 4 different designer outfits on the day, she must be taken for breakfast at an expensive restaurant and again for dinner to an exclusive venue and she is 69yrs old…. anyway if we look at hollywood stars that are aged and now bollywood is following suite… so i suppose the silly life is winning but they looking like big jokes by the time they are dying…

  • Please remember that in the West it is the other way round. It is the daughters who continue to support the parents, not the sons -generally speaking. And yes, we do have a different way of looking at things in English speaking countries, the ‘West’ is very broad and too general, ALL cultures have different ways of doing things – it does not make one right and the other wrong, just different. In our countries, we too used to have a looking inward which has now disappeared. The reason that we ‘in the West’ encourage the old to keep living their lives to the full is because we believe that without purpose, your soul will give up, and making death your purpose isn’t very constructive. But I agree that there should be an awareness of mortality, especially as one grows older, and also that this awareness can be a positive thing.

  • I have been brought up with orthodoxity and strong culture …yet I have not been able to bring up my children in the same way Arrogance in them has hurt me as a single parent. They are the bosses ..and even ask me what I’ve been doing all day…while they sleep late and rise late.. Is it because my husband had an untimely death.. Today I’m lonely after educating my children and they are employed. ..I struggled to give them education. What has life shown me as a senior citizen …I practice yoga and meditate… It they who need to grow inward… 🙏

  • I’m glad I enrolled my dad for Vipassana Meditation and he realized that when his time comes he has to be in a balanced state of mind. I even wanted my mother to join the course, but she was too adamant and called me a fool. Unfortunately, she passed away due to CKD and her last moments were full of fear and anxiety. But, I’m happy to see how meditation has done wonders on my dad and he’s prepared for death. Whatever time he’s there with us. I hope he understands the true nature of life and death. I hope every son or daughter guide their ageing parents and give them hope and clarity

  • Let’s not forget that society decided a son was the most logical to complete these things but no where scripturally does it say so. Many daughters today take over caring for their parents AND in laws, take both on pilgrimage, etc. When a couple takes the 7 phere they join together to pursue dharma and one aspect of this is caring for each others parents. Women’s responsibility for their parents doesn’t stop because they are married. Unfortunately, for better or worse the idea as evolved perhaps to make it easier on daughters that ok the son can take that responsibility but to be clear, many daughters do and should if they can, take care of their parents. It is a child’s dharma to care for their parents as their parents cared for them, girl or boy doesn’t matter. I say this because we all know some sons are not inclined to do this and vice versa some daughters are not inclined. However, may all parents be blessed that they have at least one child that cares for them in their old age.

  • It’s a strange and incomprehensible notion, when we are facing death, we as a conscious being end. Life is thoughts, memories, emotions. Death is both letting go of here, and those of us here, letting go of the dying. We will all face this transition, usually from letting go of loved ones, then our own end. Perhaps we invest too much time and energy in this place, and the events in this place. What is being shared here is perhaps we need to invest more into ourselves, our experience and inner beingness. So much distracts us to focus on outer issues. Life is simple, your emotions are the guide to going in, finding your true self.

  • My grandfather left this world in dreams while nap grand father and i was there in room he asked for things he liked addiction at night sleepin it was cold asked local alcohol gave and next day tea in morning and was sleeping after some 30 mint nap he died while sleeping on sofa.R.I.P grandpa he was epic.

  • My mother left me last month, she was doing fine she was battling cancer but after the treatment and PET scan shows she has recovered a lot and it is in stable state. She was doing fine doing all household works, suddenly she fell down and bed ridden, we tried physiotherapy and she was doing fine all set to see her walking on her feet but again she fell down, one thing i can recall she said something is pushing me down i m trying my best to live but i am pushed by something, she then went in to depression stop eating, blood tests shows infection her saturation levels drop and we lost her last month in ventilator. I wish I could ask her last wish and talk to her what she wants from me😢 . Its not fare she lefte like this, my mom was so closed to me that entire my life we stay together i was a pamper child and her beloved.

  • I am 41 and I am aware that I may die tomorrow but my father who’s 79, still has many desires in life. I don’t think he realises that he may die any time. He’s not turning inwards. I tried. And now being a single son, my worry is if my father outlives me. Now that’s going to be horrible for him for sure.

  • Time will come for everyone to die but u have to give them hope so that they dont panic.Love them make them live as if they will live forever. It does not matter if you are son or daughter responsibility can be taken by anyone my brother does not take care of my mother but I have taken both of theirs

  • But what if son staying one house away does not care for. But daughter living 400 km runs for every hospital stays. But parents keep chanting sons are better. I have these kind of parents. I m a married daughter of them. I don’t get any care or anything from them…. but I keep on going to there house in times of needs . I don’t want there property but I wish some day they will say daughter is not a burden.

  • I just lost my father..he got covid. I feel sad, since i couldnt gave him the best treatment .i was confused at those time since i and my mom got covid too. The hospitals refused to take care of us. Luckily, one of my sister friend is a doctor. He gave us medicine.but it was just too late for my father. I hate this pandemic since it is destroying humanity .

  • Jai SiyaRaam 🙏 Jai Anjaneya 🙏🕉️🇮🇳 My Amma educated me in our traditions and scriptures and guided me to the right Gurus especially Shri Kanchi Paramachariya 🙏 She passed away in difficulty but at my father’s hands when he was giving her milk in the morning…. But continually engaged in bhajans, naama Japas and prayers she knew well before she would pass away. She did, my Father did and my Nanaji (Mother’s father) had predicted his own and my mother’s death as he was skilled and blessed in astrology. She left chanting Shri Mahaperiyava Sharanam Swamiye Sharanam Ayyappa 🙏 She had no serious health condition but left untimely just two years to age of 60. Due to our traditional indulgence and well rooted spiritually this didn’t affect us much and we were instead happy after conducting all Vedic rituals. Aum Shri Gurubhyo Namaha 🙏 Aum Shanti.

  • We all know death is coming…. But what’s wrong in living life fully till the end… although we know death is inevitable….we may have turned inwards, we are lively for our family people . That can’t be seen as silly or stupid…. Just imagine if all old aged ppl start thinking n inviting death, it’s going to be too depressing for them n their family.

  • We here in the West have been so misguided and I’m sorry to say we’ve presented a falsehood. And people have been lured from their beloved homelands to come to the west and chase this elusive happiness that we put on money. My heart breaks for those who have been caught up in this false narrative. We are a hollow country. BUT there is an awareness happening. Sometimes it’s just staggering when these injustices come to light.

  • I agree with Guru about the need to help a loved one prepare to devolve peacefully. However, not all cultures lay the main responsibility of parent’s care on the males. In my culture it is expected of the daughters, especially if the daughters choose not to marry. This is an unwritten and unspoken understanding for generations. The boys marry and leave the family home to go off and start their married life, either with just his wife, or also with her family. Thus he becomes the son of the wife’s family. It is also expected that the entire family show care, respect and gratitude to the elders. But it is always the girls that are the daily and longterm caregivers.

  • Fact: daughters r not living nearby by son’s prefer staying separately or are working abroad. Once our bollywood celeb gets married what’s the next news we get “they moved into new house.” Anupam Kher has promised his mother over 90 that he visits him often yearly and spend more than a week with her. Even though he is staying in same country, he cannot afford to let an old mother to stay with him. look around and see how many are with their parents. Those who are abroad will let parents stay with them when they need them to take care during pregnancy period or childcare bcoz it’s costly to afford midwife. Have some shame

  • In my culture it is exactly the oposite. Women take care of their parents, as their brothers tend to be occupied with business. Women are closer to their parents and educate their children just as her parents educated her. I took care of my father when he had Covid. I did not take him to the hospital, I thought he deserved to die in his home, in his bed cared by his family, and not intubated in a hospital room all by himself.

  • What if they do both? Be aware of the importance of having a spiritual connection to their God yet let them enjoy their moments on earth. On a deathbed one may think I should have done this or that. Also, if you give them hope they can build faith. Faith as small as a mustard seed can move mountains (heal them) Encourage the person to visualize themselves with perfect health doing what they enjoy. A mental shift can do wonders for an ill person. Cause the subconscious mind to believe that healing or good health is possible.

  • Does it apply with spouses? I’ve done horrible things that I regret to a person that viewed me more than a person and highly respected me, and after forgiving me when not seeing her multiple times for, hurts to see how long and then again with it, a day after I wanted to tell her how much I regret of how I treated her, a week of not knowing her location, the officers said my spouse passed away. I NEED HER TO UNDERSTAND HOW MUCH I REGRET HOW I BEHAVED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Sathguru🙏🌹🙋i disagree with you. At least my generation people in 50s not facing such problem. My parents brought me up in spiritual surroundings. Same way they were also equally spiritual. But if this is a message for future generation then may be it’s right. Bcuz.. Its our duty to go to pilgrimage. Without saying. When small I used to sing a song.. Mom taught me.. 🎶 Teerath kaun kare hamari… Mann me ganga.. Mann me hi jamuna.. Mann me hi snan kare.. Mann me hi mala..Mann me hi pooja… Mann me hi dhyan dharo. 🙏🌹🙋🙋. Pilgrimage is also inside us.

  • My adult children aren’t evolved enough to help me with my inner life. i am way beyond them. They think I’m supposed to go out and make a million dollars yet for their inheritance. I want peace and balance and they want, want, want … from me, or they are angry at me. I am detaching from them anyway.

  • 👀Sadguru is undoubtedly a viscous con man of this century. One can learn the art of Lying from Jaggi. Should he be left alone to cheat more followers in the name of enlightenment? These kind of dhongi babas are earning left & right through anything. Greed has killed the conscience of most indian Godmen.🇮🇳…🇮🇳

  • What kind of daughter won’t visit her dying parents! 😂😂😂 Sadhguru is a really funny man. What is more funny when people take him seriously 😂😂 he is assuming that our parents are stupid and living linearly. You parents ar sentient being too they can think for themselves. Don’t take their self-respect away “time for pligrimmage”

  • I have the impression my stupid brother isn’t aware that death is part of nature. He’s somewhere far, while our mother is battling cancer and he hasn’t come for a single visit yet. He says it’s because of university and job and whatsoever. Truth is he doesn’t want to come, it’s “too complicated, too tiring, too far, too expensive”. Well when our mother die I’ll be too busy to warn him

  • Everything is in our thought process right..now by telling a silly things like u r getting well..don’t u think they feel little better.. after all as a son whatelse he can do to a dying parents..so in a way if telling a simple lie can bring a hope and a smile on their face..that is the moment he wud probably be thinking that made th em smile a bit even at the dying stage.. nothing wrong in it.. nobody is god to be absolute consciousness..at the end of the day the moment of happiness that we created is wat counts

  • I could not do this duty . My Baba has passed away in state of shock few months back. He always used to say like you will have to see my dead face if you don’t do this or that. I told him it hurts as I can’t imagine myself without him but he would still say this jokingly . He was ill, I went to see him and he refused to go to hospital, although 3 doctors saw him and said all is OK . I wonder why doctors could not see that. Baba left us in shock he didn’t gave us time to even admit him in hospital, he was always scared of going to hospital. Baba passed away the moment he entered the car.

  • My nrigbhor died alone in her bedroom. She hit her head her son begged her to ho their home or hospice. She was dying g I did not ha e the hearty.pancreatic cancer so didnt my brother in laws mother.. She only knew three weeks before she passed so not one of can predict. Blessings take care of your patents

  • but how we know the accurate time for this?? life is uncertain.. its not compulsory parents will live till 70s or 80s… life is unpredictable as my father passed away at 57, so how can we know that this is the time to take him to yatra.. before we think for them to take them to yatra they are physically not with us.. So these all things are hypothetical and vary from case to case…

  • This may seem bit overwhelming but it is due to the poverty why people follow westernization, Christianity, feminism and atheism to abandon their parents under garb of selfish(personal) freedom and so on. Also in west parents see their children as burden, if not all but majority. Once poverty is gone, a human is more like a Hindu spiritual, meditative, family loving and community caring etc

  • In my opinion living like 18 in 80 is no problem.. the parents are sacrificing their whole life on their family children, their parents health issues, money and what not. 70 and 80 is the age having no big responsibilities and it’s upto to everyones perspective and spiritual evolution to look towards the death. And most of the time when people die because of very old age they accept what is forthcoming that’s why they eat less talk less and all other things.

  • I’m trying to share my best friend’s story with everyone because she understands where real hope and comfort is found. Family Story Little did our family of six know that Friday evening, September 24th, 2021, would be the last night our family would be complete. We laughed together, played games, sang, and enjoyed listening as our 16-year-old son, Ethan, played the piano for us. I packed a lunch for Ethan for a church mountain hike he was going on the following day. My mother (who was visiting from out of state) and I woke early with Ethan on Saturday morning. He hugged me and smiled, never pulling away or rushing me. He got in the car, waved, said he’d see me later and he loved me. It was hard to watch my “new driver” heading out on his own that morning. As Ethan pulled out of the gate, I turned to my mother and said, “It’s just so hard letting go.” Little did I know how much “letting go” I was really doing. That was the last time I saw Ethan. He did not make it home that evening. That afternoon, a friend tried to contact my husband, leaving an urgent message to call him back. He tried several times to return the call to no avail. As we were preparing supper, an overwhelming feeling of deep concern for Ethan filled my heart. I quietly blinked back tears. I glanced out the window, half expecting to see a police officer pull up to the house, but no one arrived. However, within a few minutes, a patrol car DID pull into the driveway. In my heart, I feared the worst. My husband and I went out to meet the officer, who confirmed our fears.

  • THERE ARE SOME PEOPLE THAT ARE IN THEIR 80S AND 90S,BUT THEY RE TOO AFRAID TO DIE..THUS THEY CLING INTO A USELESS BODY ..GIVING TROUBLES TO OTHERS MY MOTHER WAS LUCKY IN THAT SHE HAD HER DAUGHTERS ALL DAUGHTERS,WHO TOOK CARE OF HER.OFF COURSE.IT IS IN BRAZIL.NOT ASIA..NON WONDER SHE WAS LUCKY TO HAVE DAUGHTERS IN HER LAST DAYS

  • The ancients Indians and Chinese are not very flexible and realistic. If the house only have daughters, then one daughter can stay with her old parents and marry a man with a lot of brothers. The man (who already have a lot of brothers) can have a wife, family, inherit he property with his wife, and the daughter can take care of her parents and her parents property. Men with too many brothers will inherit less, they will gain more if they marry into families with only daughters. Also, one no need 10 sons to carry a dead body. 1-2sons is enough. This is done in some Chinese families who only have daughters.

  • It is unfortunate to see that people in their 70s are struggling to control their emotions, their anger. Forget emotions & anger, many can’t even maintain a civil tongue! And all this in a culture that constantly inhabited the same geography for 1000s of years & nearly 4000 years created literature that dedicated volumes specifically under ‘Emotion control’, ‘Anger Control’ etc, yes Iam talking about ‘Thirukkural’ by Saint Valluvar in Tamizh. Sample this… “If You have to protect yourself, protect against your own anger, because, whether or not your anger destroys your enemy, it shall definitely destroy You”. It has taken millions of tax payers money & decades of physiology / biochemistry research for modern science to arrive at this kind of conclusion that anger is basically a poison from whithin. Sad to see elders being unconscious of wisdom like this, talk to them about Thirukkural & they will say “Oh, that’s 4th grade, 6th grade School stuff. I was done with it long back!”

  • Totally disagree with this. Nobody is naive to think life is eternal. But, there is no need to prepare for it and make a clumsy atmosphere. A better approach would be to make a will and not leave hidden liabilities. Pilgrimage is for connecting with God, not for preparing for something else. Calling oneself Mystic doesn’t make it so. I can call myself paper or cat, but I will never become either.

  • I think because the East thinks the people of the west are so busy being youthful and rich that they aren’t malnourished all their life and believe me at 35 or 45 the get hit like a ton of bricks their family members become more a responsibility whether we like it or not it needs dealing with unless you’re a selfish person or a drunk or addict. I think daily of my mortality and my mother’s death as does she she has shown me where all the documents are let me know her wishes I know she is aware because we discussed it that. I’m too much in pain with RA to deal with her if she is so sick like my gram her mother. My mother is much stronger and has pain medication. Something I have no luxury to get because she was a drug addict while pregnant so I’m marked somehow and don’t get meds no matter how many times I’m dying and need emergency surgery. She is realistic. It’s a part of life we learn early at least most of us because the USA Keeps us good and sick for their pocket books and lifestyles must be maintained. In fact many young people die from their selfishness and greed. They don’t allow farmers here for the most part our food comes from. Somewhere else sits in trucks for weeks or is go and is like eating cardboard SURELY YOUVE HEARD THE RUMOURS OF THIS GREAT WEALTHY NATION FULL OF TRASH THEY FEED US FAT PIGS WE ARE FAT BECAUSE ITS MOSTLY SUGAR AND SALT. We are hungry all the time and get no satiation then we crave sugars more and more thanks to them taking over my indigenous land and letting more and more people of the WORLD THINK THE AMERICANS ARE SO RICH AND SPOILED SO THEY WANT TO GET THE AMERICAN DREAM HOUSE WHITE PICKET FENCE YOU KNOW THE MANTRA RIGHT?

  • I believe it is a sin for children to put their parents in a nursing home they should take care of them without physical and mental abuse they don’t need that big expensive rich house or car they wouldn’t be here today if it wasn’t their parents most people don’t know the definition of respect if you ask them to question I can’t even get on the phone and ask the parents how the hell are you LOL which I’m sure you understand what I mean they can’t even stop in for a few minutes and see their parents to check up on him or even have any respect or consideration but they can take off and go to a bar and drink and do drugs or go running around they’ve got time to do that and run around and cheat on their spouse they got trying to do that

  • I can’t explain how, but even before I came to know about Sadhguru as person, I’ve felt that the main difference between Oriental cultures & Western/Abrahamic Desert/Temperate region produced cultures (in general) is this – Oriental Cultures have realized Death is part of Life, so naturally live peacefully AND Western Cultures have tried to separate Death from Life, so live with artificial misery. And this difference is the somehow the product of the physical landscape & climate. Also as Sadhguru said, it is not gender discrimniation. Because in Young reproductive age as well, sons (men & boys) have a evolutionary provided inherent sense that this body is immortal, but young women & girls are kind of disturbed by death (again through evolutionary mechanism) because they have been given the gift of creative force for taking care of next generation. Not that it has to apply to individuals of both genders absolutely in all cases. But generally sons can through their actions can help parents prepare for final chapter of the current book, while daughters get attached to their parents or depressed themselves. That could be also one of the reason why Daughters were weaned of one family to get attached to another family to take care of I know there are other practical & biological as well as spiritual reasons to that.

  • Matlab jab body purani hone lage toh use bhagwan ko de do…wah….baba ji…u need to give time for God when u r young….only then u will like to go to pilgrimage…else even at the age of 50 people want to roam France and Europe…today’s media shoes….age is just a numbers….so enjoy till the last breat….

  • Sadhguru. You need to knock off your constant blaming of the west for our own shortcomings. We lost the plot and went astray and you, instead of calling us Indians out on our own failings, you indulge in western bashing. How does a realized human fall into that trap?!!! Everything about our culture is just superb!!!? There are many things that are fantastic and many that are just crappy. Own it.

  • Very depressive article, every human being when they reach middle age the realization of mortality comes. I don’t think children should set up the atmosphere for parents to prepare. I love Sadguru but this article, I don’t agree. Sometimes positivity helps in fighting diseases. Time has come or not let God decide, let human being live till that time comes.
