Why did Junior cry after beating Wellpinit?

In this text, the protagonist, Junior, plays a basketball game against Wellpinit, a team that is expected to win. Junior, with the help of Rowdy, wins the game by forty points. However, Junior realizes that Reardan is a formidable opponent to Wellpinit’s David, and they have all the advantages. Junior cries tears of shame, as Wellpinit’s season falls apart after their loss.

Junior writes Rowdy an email apologizing for their bad performance and promises to kick Reardan’s ass next year. Junior responds with a “Ha-ha” message, which Junior finds amusing. This is the first time Rowdy has really talked to him since leaving the rez.

The story also touches on the experiences of Native American families, who are unhappy due to alcohol. Junior, at the age of fourteen, has been to forty-two funerals, comparing it to white kids. He believes that Tolstoy’s idea that unhappy families are all unique is incorrect.

During a chemistry class, Junior’s guidance counselor, Miss Warren, visits him and hugs him tightly. She informs him that Mary has died, and Junior is upset. What is Junior’s real name in Part Time Indian?

Arnold Spirit Jr, a 14-year-old Native American living on the Spokane Indian Reservation, is born with too much cerebro-spinal fluid in his skull. He is philosophical about his physical impact and the objectionable treatment he receives, including verbal and physical abuse by his peers. The book follows Arnold as he chooses to leave the familiarity and comparative security of the rez for an all-white school, capitalizing on his intelligence and innate sense of hope.

His journey of self-discovery and his influence on the lives of those he meets along the way is not ordinary. Hydrocephalus is a highly unusual book from a disability point of view, with a fully-dimensional and thought-provoking depiction of Arnold’s condition. The book is not without controversy, with an unusually direct and surprising approach to subjects like masturbation, profane and homophobic language, poverty, abuse, senseless violence, and death. It is both moving and memorable, with strong autobiographical influences making it even more so.

What is the final mascot in Speak?

The novel revolves around the constant changing mascot names, which reinforce the idea that teenagers are constantly shifting their identities and resist authority figures. The mascot changes are superficial and meaningless, as they don’t change from purple and gray to other colors. The students attend a “democratic forum” to choose a new mascot name, eventually choosing the Hornets due to budgetary concerns. The students try on different names and identities, such as Melinda’s friend Rachel who starts calling herself Rachelle.

The motif of acting is also present throughout the novel, with Melinda describing conversations with her parents as if she is transcribing a play, demonstrating that they are acting like a family. Nearly everyone in the story is playing a part, including Melinda, who is a victim but is seen as a villain due to an incident over the summer. She claims to be a good actor because she can communicate nonverbally without being bothered by her role.

Standing up for oneself is another theme that emphasizes the importance of communication. Melinda notices David standing up for himself when Mr. Neck tries to silence him during class discussions. He speaks his mind and gains some power over Mr. Neck’s class. Melinda writes a report about the suffragettes, inspired by their tenacity, and when Mr. Neck demands she present the report orally, she protests the unfair treatment.

Despite repeated punishments for speaking up, such as arrests and detentions for the suffragettes and Melinda, neither back down. Despite witnessing people get punished for speaking up for themselves, Melinda continues to try to speak in different ways until she is heard.

In summary, the novel explores themes of identity, acting, and standing up for oneself through various characters and situations.

  • I’ve actually screened with Cologuard and I have to say the process sort of feels like this! The box has a bucket in it and you have to poop in the bucket, add the chemicals, then screw the bucket closed and return the entire bucket to Cologuard in the same box. So I ended up standing in line at the UPS office holding this big white box with the Cologuard logo really big on all four sides. There was NO WAY everybody in that line didn’t know exactly what was in that box. Talk about awkward!!

  • I’ve done the Cologuard test before. Not only is Woody great in his roll, but Kenan as the UPS guy is, too. FWIW: UPS ‘overnights’ the boxes to Cologuard’s testing lab for processing; the look on the face of the counter guy at the local UPS Store when I took my ‘completed’ Cologuard box in for mailing was a creepy ‘I know what’s in there!’ just like Kenan’s face. Mark this as a classic for the season.

  • Destroy me, Daddy! OMG, one of the best skits in a long time! Thank you SNL for making me cry from laughing so hard. And hats off to the demented and brilliant writers! Woody did a tremendous job; his facial expressions said it all. I’ll never be able to see a Cologuard box again without expecting it to whip out a switchblade and demand someone to drop their pants!!

  • This was hilarious and great marketing for Colonguard! Yes, I can’t believe people think that this product does not actually exist! LOL Also, for several years, SNL has been open about creating “parodies” that are actually clever product placement on behalf of the actual product’s marketing team. In this example, this “parody” also featured UPS, another company that paid NBC to be featured. Parody or not, it gets people talking, men to think about colon cancer, and guess who benefits? Cologuard! And yes, even public health, Genius!

  • So I’m at my doctor’s office waiting for the phlebotomist to draw my blood. An elderly woman comes to the nurses station and pulls a large prescription bottle from her purse. She then says, she was asked to bring a stool sample into the office. Sat the bottle on the counter. The five nurses there jumped to the other side of the office, screaming and yelling at the poor confused woman, ” That’s not what we meant. ” I never laughed so hard. I nearly 💩 myself. So . . . maybe a box isn’t such a bad idea.

  • Every now and then SNL comes up with some instant classic bits – this is one of them! Hilarious!! Update:I went to my doctor for a physical. He asked if I wanted a colonoscopy or Cologuard. This immediately popped in my head and started laughing to myself. So, yes I Cologuard and boyyy- I unleashed like a mofo…😂😂😂

  • Yes, I too have unleashed. After being hassled by both my primary doc (2 times) and my GI doc (3 times) to get a colonoscopy, I decided to throw them off my trail and did the Cologard thing instead. These doctors are really, really invested in trying to sell you useless tests. I’ve even received phone calls soliciting from a physician’s office: “our records show that you are overdue for a _ test”. Man, getting old is rough. And annoying.

  • I used the Cologuard test, followed the instructions, and dropped it off with UPS. Two weeks later I got a call, telling me I had another box coming, and to repeat the test. The explanation I got was, that the box was damaged in the UPS truck. The container with my poop sample leaked into the truck…At that point I was glad I’m not a UPS driver.

  • Comedy aside I hope everyone 45 and over will get screened for colorectal cancer. Catch it early so you don’t have to go through chemo twice, radiation, surgeries, ileostomy, pelvic floor therapy, radiation burns, neuropathy etc. It’s been 4 years since my diagnosis and 3 years since my last chemo. I wouldn’t wish this on anyone! Especially living life with lower anterior resection syndrome.

  • DON’T trust cologuard, my uncle just died from colon cancer last year and the cologuard test didn’t find it, around 8 months I’d say prior to him being diagnosed he took the test. Sorry, folks reading this, you need to get scoped. I got scoped and it wasn’t bad, nothing found! You’re worth your time and effort to take care of.

  • Yeeeah. This box showed up at my house after my physical. I just can’t bring myself to completing the task and it’s still sitting on shelf in the closet. My physical was 8 months ago, by the way. Can’t we just go back to the old way? I know the docs don’t like the old way but I’m sure they could find an enthusiastic person to perform the procedure… all day, every day… and they probably wouldn’t have to pay them either.

  • I did Cologuard. Took it to the UPS store, standing in line holding a box of poop, like you do, hoping to fly under the radar and get the heck out of there. Then the woman ahead of me turned around and made a big fuss about it. “Oh, good for you, it’s colon cancer awareness month, blah blah”. Turned out she worked for Cologuard. What are the chances?

  • My dad did cologaurd once. I knew how it worked and was completely disgusted that such a… object was in our home. “I want that thing out of my house!”, I’d always say whenever I saw it. Eventually, dad did the test and sent it on its way, and thankfully came back negative for anything worrying. He’s now too old to qualify for cologaurd, so I don’t have to worry about seeing that horrible box again!
