  • Just got hired with Magic Ears! It was honestly the weirdest demo interview I’ve ever had – I really prepared for it having heard that they often fail people and expected to teach for at least 10 min but nope! It lasted about 5 min, only about 2 min of which was teaching. The interviewer was dressed very casually and appeared to be ill. So that gave me the impression that it was a very relaxed company but then I got the onboarding/orientation package and it says I can be penalized for accidentally yawning! ME is not going to be my main company but I’m still going to give it a try…just not quite sure what to expect at this point!

  • Awesome articles as always Tim! So, I have several questions here: 1: The attendance bonus is not linked to the peak hours, it is for any class that you teach and if you do it with the above conditions you get the 1USD? 2. IF you do standby how does it work – they call you and ask you” can you teach this please”? And in that situation can you say “no” or are you required to teach it? 3. HOw is the seniority (Sophomore, JR, SR…) determined on – # of hours taught? 4.And once you reach Sr is it for that contract only – meaing in the new one you start from the bottom again?

  • “Cancel less than 21 classes within 24 hours” ??? Are you serious? I could cancel 20 classes during the space of 24 hours and make $ 1. per however many classes I taught that month. Holy Cow!! Where is he application???? I need to sign up really quick before someone realizes there is a major mistake in that phrase !!!!!!!! Timmy bo Bimmy Fee-Fye-Lo Bimmy, Timmy!! I am jumping up and down and I have not had a Red Bull yet !! Hey Matey! I do thunk I have reached the pit of gold! Good DaY Matey!

  • Hello, I am planning to apply by using your link. I live in S. Korea and I have classroom experience and an MA TESOL. My question to you is: do you think it is possible to get 10+ hours of bookings on weekends (Saturday and Sunday Beijing time) exclusively? I won’t hold you to your answer, would just like your best guess.

  • Hi, Thank you very much for doing these extensive articles and your replies. I am a clinical psychology masters student (South Africa) and would like to teach online as I complete my research to obtain my degree. I would like to know if I need my equipment ready with my background, props, etc.., all set up before I can apply for the jobs? Would it be recommended to have all those set up to better my chances of being accepted? Thank you.

  • I tried applying for an online position and they said they could not take me because I live in Cambodia despite the fact I am an American citizen and have a US bank account and mailing address. I am more or less looking for a position to hold me over until I can return to China to teach inclass. Afterwards I would likely use this type of job so i can pay off credit cards so i do not need to transfer money from China to the USA which is a pain in the butt.
