What Is The Meaning Of The Rune Suhil In Divination?

The Sowilo rune, a symbol of hope and success in runic divination, is often associated with the sun. Runes, ancient characters of the runic alphabet, hold a significant place in Norse culture and spirituality. They are used in divination to unlock insights into the past, present, and future. Each rune symbol carries specific meanings, such as whisper or secret.

Rune, meaning “secret”, is used within divination or oracle readings to help the question bearer find solace, answers, and solutions. Rune casting is an ancient art of using runes to uncover hidden knowledge and gain deeper insight into the unknown. Runes can be made of various materials but are essentially an ancient form of oracle cards, used by Germanic and Nordic tribes.

Sowilo (*sōwilō), meaning “sun”, is the reconstructed Proto-Germanic language name of the s-rune (ᛊ, ᛫). This rune represents gifts and generosity, emphasizing the relationship between the giver and receiver. The word “rune” has come to mean “secret, something hidden”, and many people believe the symbols were used as a form of guidance.

Rune stones are essentially an ancient form of oracle cards, used by Germanic and Nordic tribes. Typically, there are 24 rune stones, each symbol representing different life aspects, such as love, health, or wealth. Each rune represents different life aspects, and the pattern in which they fall during a reading is interpreted.

Rune stones are used as a system of divination, decision making, and communication, and are the magical alphabet of the North of central and Northern Europe. The meaning of rune is “secret” or “mysterium”, with each symbol having a deeper meaning beyond the sound it makes in language.

What does the S rune mean?

Runes are phonetic symbols that describe sounds, such as “man” or “sun”. In the Viking Age, runes were used only by people in the Nordic area and were brought by Vikings who traveled the world. Runic inscriptions written by Vikings in England, Greece, Turkey, Russia, and Greenland are preserved. The Vikings used the runes closest to the sound they were supposed to use, such as “u-run” for the “o” sound, “t-run” for the “d” sound, “i-run” for the “e” sound, and “k-run” for the “g” sound. The runic alphabet of the Viking Age lacks some runes for all sounds in the language.

What is a ❦?

A fleuron, also known as printers’ flower, is a typographic element or glyph used as a punctuation mark or ornament for typographic compositions. Fleurons are stylized forms of flowers or leaves, derived from the Old French word floron (“flower”). They are among the oldest typographic ornaments and can be used to fill white space, divide paragraphs in a highly stylized way, divide lists, or for pure ornamentation. The fleuron (as a formal glyph) is a sixteenth-century introduction.

Fleurons were crafted as individual metal sorts that could be fit into the printer’s compositions alongside letters and numbers, saving time and effort in ornamentation. They could also be produced in multiples, allowing printers to build up borders with repeating patterns of fleurons. The fleuron is a common example of a fleuron, a stylized form of flowers or leaves.

What is the symbol ᛋ?

The ᛋ-rune, a symbol of “sun”, was reinterpreted by Guido von List as a victory sign in his list of “Armanen runes”. The Eif rune, a rotated and reflected version of the ᛇ or Eihwaz rune, was used as an esoteric insignia of the Schutzstaffel (SS) from the 1920s to 1945 on SS flags, uniforms, and other items. These insignias represented Nazi ideology and Germanic mysticism, as well as desirable virtues in SS members. Walter Heck, an SS-Sturmhauptführer, adapted the sig rune into the SS emblem in 1933, consisting of two sig runes drawn side by side like lightning bolts.

The symbol became so ubiquitous that it was often typeset using runes rather than letters, and during the Nazi period, an extra key was added to German typewriters to enable them to type the double-sig logo with a single keystroke. Other esoteric symbols used by the SS included the ᛋ-rune, the Eif rune, and the ᛇ or Eihwaz rune.

Runes are letters in the runic alphabets native to Germanic peoples, used to write Germanic languages before the adoption of the Latin alphabet. They can represent sound values and concepts after which they are named, known as ideographs. Scandinavian variants are known as fuþark or futhark, derived from the first six letters of the script. Anglo-Saxon variants are known as futhorc or fuþorc, due to changes in Old English. Runology is the academic study of runic alphabets, runic inscriptions, and runestones, and forms a specialized branch of Germanic philology.

The earliest secure runic inscriptions date from around AD 150, with a potentially earlier inscription dating to AD 50. The Svingerud Runestone dates from between AD 1 and 250. Runes were generally replaced by the Latin alphabet as the cultures that used runes underwent Christianization, but the use of runes persisted for specialized purposes beyond this period. Up until the early 20th century, runes were still used in rural Sweden for decorative purposes in Dalarna and on runic calendars.

  • Love your website! ( Did my M.Div at UTS, have been a student of astrology and metaphysics, the arcane, etc. in general since I was a kid, and all of that was a huge advantage in studying ancient religion and much biblical symbolism, specifically… When I lived in Jerusalem someone told me that Matzal Tov derives from ‘Good Stars’ or Fortunate Stars’ The one piece of astrological art I have in the house is a print of a mosaic zodiac from an ancient synagogue in Jerusalem…)

  • Sooo happy to see someone covering this! Because THIS month was so special to them! I would disagree, however, that it’s about astrology … it’s about ASTRONOMY. So if you want to find the Sign of Jonas, for example, look between Cetus and Pegasus toward the end of this month. The three days in the belly of the Whale is the passage of the Moon. They thought we would be in for a pole shift. Now that Aries has traversed Pisces, it is time for the poles to hit the equator.

  • The more I learn, the more I realize I have a lot to learn to have any comprehension of these biblical texts. Especially raised as an evangelical, it’s like – everything was so wrong that now that I’m learning from academic sources, my mind is blown. It’s hearing all this material and explanations that I’ve never heard before. Also, there’s really no way around it is there? you need to learn the language of the texts, and then know the references the material is making. So much to learn just to have a decent grasp on the texts. This is going to take awhile lol

  • Absolutely amazing, informative, and shows the formation of Christianity and post second temple Jewish ideology was never developed in a vacuum. Here we can clearly see the level of influence in these religions from astrological science. Gotta watch this one on repeat. It is interesting to think about how predictions of the future based on astrological events become a self fulfilling prophecy for those who are in that future and act according to these signs. Mind-blowing 🤯

  • Very interesting presentation! I need to watch it a few times to understand. I’ve long been interested in amateur astronomy and it’s hard for me to grasp astrology because it involves what invisible planets and constellations are up during daylight hours. If I can’t see something, I’m not generally interested in it. Time to broaden my horizons.

  • Oh man — not just astrology but numerology. So of course — Jesus is the “Fisher King” because he comes in the age of Pisces. The age of Pisces started around the birth of Jesus. Now — of course— the 12 tribes / 12 apostles symbolize the zodiac signs. So the 12 represent the tribes — but, let us say — 144 or 144000 would symbolize larger humanity— the 12 multiplied. In Mark — Jesus multiples the 5 loads of bread — symbol of the Torah. Jesus is teaching the crowd of a new, miraculous, living Torah. The black box the Jews wear on their foreheads— symbol of Saturn. Square and black and both symbols of Saturn. So far — so on …. Examples are endless …. Interestingly— the age AWTER Pisces is Aquarius— and the sign is symbolized by a human being. As Pisces is the sign of compassion and suffering — Aquarius is the sign of communication: groups of people coming together, growth of technological advances. Who knows — maybe the saying “the Son of Man coming on the white cloud” – is the prophecy of humanity, in the sign of Aquarius — getting to see itself by the means of the internet “cloud” lol Thus, the prophet HAS BEEN FULFILLED (or will be after the singularity kicks in). Oh, by the way — the sign of Aquarius is opposite to the sign of Leo. That is why the Messiah comes “as a man from the tribe of Leo/Juda”. Also — the Pisces are directly opposite to Virgo — that is why the first, suffering Messiah is “born of the Virgin.”

  • 🙏💚🧡👍👍👍👍So Marvelous, James, so much data to analyze about the coming end of the world with my suspicious Observers astrophysicists friends! All that show they were knowing the fall of the sky, and that flood were related to sky event. You are All walking in the foot prints of Paul when he went studying in Mesopotamia. 👍🙆👌🤗i’m lot impressed how fast we find evidences now, and how All is connected as we said previously in the comments of you Work! Lot lot of things to say about this article, too much data to analyse, i’m lot impressed that my reference book by Platon, The Republic, about Trifunction, have been cited three times here, the connections with Alexandria Knowledge and Vedic analysis of the cosmos data in predictions much impressed also by the analysis of proximal Nova in cycle, that are recurrent nova, and for that reason the fall of the sky is in fact the Earth recurrent micronova, that writes the Earth life cycles with the blow of the Earth rotation cycle. In fact this is Earth blow that seems like for Us that fall of the sky. So we stand already for the next end, as Humans have seen by their eyes 120 centuries ago, in geological evidences and Sun system changing shows actually. What a chance to end our lives seeing that! Smacks to Paul, he did a good job, Jesus too because we actually studying how the Good’s Sheppard will help Humanity in this ” through a needle hole time ”. Don’t you recognize what Jesus was trying to say?

  • I don’t understand a lot of the terms used as I am not educated in astrology or the use of it in the gnostic viewpoint. However, I did awaken to the main fact of how important astrology was to the ancient people and how darn smart they were in following the planets and stars. It appears they were actually able to predict and make sense of it all. I wish I could have heard more about Pantera . My ears perked up when I heard that name as I remember Dr. Tabor talking about the Jewish and Greek writings that Named the Roman soldier Pantera as the fatter of Jesus. I looked up this claim in Wikipedia and interestingly they denied this theory and claimed it was Jewish satire. I wonder why as I have never read any other opinions about other topics in the Old Testament that were explained away like this. I find this “highly compelling !”

  • Dr. Tabor or anyone who can respond. About the 22-minute mark, there is a discussion of spiritual descent and the idea of a mortal twin. Esau and Jacob are twins. Would Esau be the mortal twin with Jacob as the spiritual? Is there any writings on this? I am writing on Jacobs journey to becoming Israel and the involvement of the House of Laban. Thanks, John Thompson

  • A fascinating topic. However like many who study ‘astrotheology’ it is just an endless stream of linkages of patterns & symbols & myths without support….and thus of dubious scholarly value. The artifacts presented are real and valuable archeological data. However, 25 minutes into the talk, I did not hear a single citation from an ancient source to support the notion that ancient people interpreted these symbols the way he interprets them.

  • Book of Rev is full of astrology and you won’t ever understand that book until you see that. You can’t use modern zodiac however and must use constellations instead. It’s probably the only way you can identify Jesus at his return unless you’re so gullible you believe ‘clouds’ is literal. One major sign was astronomy in Rev 12 that occurred on 9/23/2017 describing the woman giving birth. Astronomy told the story of a comet going from Leo into Virgo’s womb, followed by Jupiter entering the womb just after that. Jupiter remained in the womb for just over 9 months going retro. Now notice the guy on the white horse given a bow and a crown. The crown is a string of planets just like the woman had only the sun had to be in Leo and moon in Aries. The bow is picturing the planets in the day sky with moon on the western horizon and Saturn on the east forming a bow. That particular alignment tells the story of the suffering servant and any astrologer will recognize the language no matter whether they use zodiacs or constellations. That’s how he’s both a lion and a slain lamb. In astrology terms, the moon is in the hardest position possible using only the 7 original planets. And that’s exactly what you should expect that astronomy would also tell his story along with Isa 53

  • Astrology (our lives are pre-determined and affected by the stars) – NO; Mazzaroth (aka zodiac or 12 signs and 36 related constellations) – YES. Job 38:32, 2 Kings 23:5, incorporating also other references to planets, stars, sun, and moon. These are very different concepts. One is forbidden by God, the other created by God to discern them as a sign of the times. Magi were not astrologers, but a priestly caste in the region of Babylon who understood the mazzaroth, pr how to discern the sign of the times. They didd not follow a star in the sky, but recognized by this astronomical event that the prophecies were being fulfilled, and it was time (finally after multiple generations) to deliver the items that Daniel had given their caste to deliver to this King of kings in the exact place foretold, Beit Lechem (or house of Bread). Be careful of such false references bc most people do not research sufficiently, and will just start check their horoscopes and following astrology instead of their Bible.

  • Jesus = the sun, Lucifer = Venus The story of Jesus is the same as the Baal cycle and the ancient Egyptian trinity Osirus, Horus, and Isis. It’s just the annual cycle, the sun moving from summer to winter and back again. The only object in the entire universe from our perspective that appears to die and rise again after three days is the sun after the winter solstice, born again in Virgo the virgin.

  • Among Jesus’ parables is one about those who are able to understand him and those who can’t and never will. The meaning of which is, to receive it (the meaning that is) you must believe it; as in if you the ears to hear it you will hear it. Nonbelievers will never believe without the ‘ears’ to hear it. This is elemental psychology and explains so called cognitive dissonance. Christianity produces cognitive dissonance in the majority of people.

  • Consistency is key to achieving any goal. When we are consistent, we build momentum and make steady progress. It shows dedication and a commitment to excellence. Whether it’s in our work, relationships, or personal lives, consistency is a valuable trait. Let’s strive for consistency in all that we do.

  • Jihad in Islam means “struggle” or “striving” for righteousness, including personal spiritual efforts and, in some cases, defensive warfare under strict rules. It is aimed at promoting justice and protecting the innocent. Terrorism, on the other hand, is the unlawful use of violence, especially against civilians, to create fear for political or ideological gain. Islam strictly condemns terrorism, and targeting innocent people is forbidden. In short: Jihad is about justice and self-defense; terrorism is about fear and harm to innocents. Islam does not permit the latter

  • Dude, you’re all over the place! Make up your mind and stick with it. It’s super confusing when you keep changing things up. Just pick a lane and stay in it, you know? Consistency is key! It’s important to remember that many people face difficult circumstances beyond their control. We should strive to create a more equitable society that provides opportunities for everyone to thrive. Supporting organizations that offer assistance to those in need is a meaningful way to make a difference. Even small acts of kindness can have a positive impact on someone’s life. Let’s work together to build a more compassionate and just world.
