Would running a mic through a PreSonus Tube Pre into the Scarlett sound better than using just the Scarlett preamps with the air button? I’m trying to figure out which interface to get and it’s between the Scarlett 2i2 and the Audiobox 96. I’m leaning toward the Scarlett after perusal another one of your articles. I already have the Tube Pre and I’d really like to be able to use it.
You “can’t undo” the air recording… For distortion, it’s very true, less for high end boost, but still true I guess. You can lower boosted high frequencies afterwards, but will you degrade just a little bit the purity of the sound? Some people say they prefer flat sound and create effect afterwards, but I guess if you activate it, the high end will be better recorded, in comparison to record flat and boost after. Is in it ?

okay so this may sound dumb but since you explained the high frequency boost with air on, is there a chance that could be why every recording ive done has this god awful hiss in it ive tried to just use edison and take it out but even then it manages to either make it louder or make my vocals muddy after trying to remove the hiss?
How do I separate outputs? I use a Focusrite Solo as interface. My Presonus Eris, Aston Mic and DT990s are all connected there. When recording, I use the DT990s to monitor my vocals while listening to the beat. Then, I would like to switch the audio output to my Presonus Eris so that I can hear it in actual space. How can I do this without plugging things in and out? What am I missing here? Pls help :))

why does the 2i2 get a direct monitor button but the 4i4 does not??? i cant stand basic features being designed out of hardware in favor of software versions. theres also next to no information online about Focusrite Control 2 specifically, so if you ever feel like doing a dedicated article to FC2 specifically that would be so appreciated. Thanks, great power user tips! Hmmm…if speakers are connected directly into Focusrite…but I use Bluetooth speakers how do I connect them? Also if I want to put some effects over vocals/music what is easiest software to use. A lot of people use hardware with effects mapped to buttons so its easy to just hit a button but Id rather not buy hardware – unless absolutely needed – and rather use an easy FX software panel instead…but I don’t waste alot of time learning a deep program just so I apply a few fun FX
Literally just saw a article of someone comparing EVO 4 with this. There’s no way lots of people said the EVO 4 is better. I think Gen 3 to Gen 4 had a massive upgrade. This has better sound quality, more functions, and it looks better lol. Oh and they give you sooo many free plugins! Only thing I will say is I do miss increasing and decreasing my volume with my Mac keyboard.

Both the Focusrite and my laptop only have USB C ports, but the Focusrite cable included with this interface is USB A to USB C. Would it be better to 1. Use my own USB C to USB C cable 2. Use the Focusrite cable connected to a docking station with a USB A port or 3. Use the Focusrite cable connected to the USB C on my laptop via a USB A to USB adapter?
Yooo I have a question. I’m using the mic that came with my interface and even with the gain turned way up it’s super quiet when it come out on my DAW. Like I can hear myself loud and clear through the headphones in real time, but the recording sounds quiet and kinda distant. Could there be any possible reasons for that that you know of?
