What Is The Vagus Nerve Chakra?

The Vagus nerve, also known as the tenth cranial nerve, is a crucial component of our body’s parasympathetic nervous system. It is connected to all seven chakra points directly or via the brain itself, and its function extends beyond regulating bodily functions. The vagus nerve, also known as the “wandering nerve” or “10th cranial nerve”, plays a crucial role in our overall well-being and healing.

The chakra system, originated in India between 1500 and 500 BC, can be thought of as our body’s energy centers. The throat chakra corresponds with the lungs, larynx, pharynx, and vagus nerve. Physically, a blocked throat chakra can lead to sore throat, laryngitis, asthma, and other physical symptoms.

The Vagus nerve is connected to the Solar Plexus chakra through the upper digestive system and lower endocrine system, encompassing the upper portion of the body. It is the great communicator between most systems in the body, including major organs of the brain, digestive system, and heart. The Root, Sacral, and Solar Plexus chakras are energy centers that attach to digestive, sexual, and reproductive organs that connect to several branches.

The vagus nerve sends messages between the brain, heart, and digestive system, and with the help of the seven chakras, it can be a psychological and spiritual tool. These chakras are the Root, Sacral, and Solar Plexus chakras, which are energy centers attached to digestive, sexual, and reproductive organs that connect to several branches.

Maintaining a healthy vagus nerve and balanced chakras can provide numerous benefits for our overall well-being and healing.

What chakra heals anxiety?

Regular chakra meditation can assist individuals in identifying and addressing the underlying causes of their anxiety by focusing on specific chakras, such as the root chakra for security or the heart chakra for emotional stability.

Is the vagus nerve related to chakras?

The vagus nerve, which plays a pivotal role in facilitating communication between the brain, the digestive system, and the heart, can be harnessed as a psychological and spiritual healing tool, with the guidance of the seven chakras.

How do I activate my vagus nerve?

Scientists are discovering that the vagus nerve, a crucial part of the nervous system, may promote and protect brain function. The vagus nerve acts as an information superhighway to the brain, delivering information that controls digestion, heart rate, mood, and the body’s inflammation response. To stimulate the vagus nerve, take a breath, meditate, take breaks, exercise, and engage in endurance activities like jogging, cycling, and swimming. Activities associated with calmness, such as deep breathing, meditation, massage, and awe, can effect changes in the brain through increasing vagus nerve activity.

Is the vagus nerve sushumna?

Pattabhi Jois equated the vagus nerve to sushumna nadi, which is the nadi in our spine that houses our “kundalini” according to yogic lore. Pattabhi Jois said (to Eddie Stern) the sushumna nadi is contained within the vagus nerve – specifically from the heart to the brain stem.

In fact the yogic term “kundalini rising” is all about the vagus nerve. The upper fibers of the vagus nerve is the area that is connected to our senses and brain, we want that area to be active. When the upper fibers are active we are vibrant, social, happy beings. This is what all the yogic lore around raising your kundalini is about, having the upper fibers of your vagus nerve more active than the middle or lower fibers.

According to Stephen Porges, MD and his polyvagal theory, the lower fibers of the vagus nerve that are in our gut is responsible for the “freeze” reaction of fight, flight, or freeze when we are faced with a severe life threatening situation. This is also the action that makes it hard for us to get out of bed if we are facing a non-life threatening but still stressful event.

How to reset the vagus nerve?

How to reset the vagus nerve?

Vagal nerve hacks have been suggested as a potential solution to various health issues. Yoga, slow diaphragmatic breathing, cold-water immersion, singing, humming, eye movements, Craniosacral therapy, and carotid sinus massage are some methods that can stimulate the vagus nerves. Yoga and slow diaphragmatic breathing can stimulate the vagus nerves directly or through relaxation. Cold-water immersion on the face or neck can stimulate the skin’s nerves.

Singing and humming can increase vagal tone by innervating the larynx. Eye movements can reset the vagus nerve through an oculocardiac reflex, which can be stimulated by pressure on the eyes. Craniosacral therapy, a form of osteopathy, has been shown to reduce cortisol and increase parasympathetic activity. Carotid sinus massage can also increase vagus nerve activation and lower heart rate. However, this should only be done by a clinician or with professional advice, and should be done for 5 to 10 seconds.

Which chakra holds anxiety?

An imbalanced solar plexus chakra can lead to severe anxiety and affect relationships, potentially causing jealousy and possessiveness. Eastern traditions believe there is an interconnection between emotional and physical health and the seven energy centers known as chakras. However, research on chakras and their role in anxiety development or management is limited. Chakras are wheel-like energy centers in the body that affect physiological and emotional functions, and emotions, lifestyle choices, and thoughts are also believed to affect chakra function. Anxiety can interfere with navigating the world and relationships, so understanding its impact is crucial.

How do you reset the vagus nerve?

The vagus nerve, the longest nerve in the body, connects almost every organ system to the brain stem and cortex. Dysfunction can lead to mental and physical health problems such as lightheadedness, anxiety, digestive distress, and sleep issues. Non-invasive forms of vagus nerve reset include healthy lifestyle choices like exercise, meditation, and a nutrient-dense diet. Holistic interventions include massage, breathwork, and laughter. Heart rate variability (HRV) is the best way to measure vagal activity, or vagal tone.

Electrical vagus nerve stimulation (VNS) is the conventional approach but only FDA-approved for a small number of conditions and is invasive. Research suggests that VNS can improve various ailments and diseases, including anxiety, low mood, migraines, elevated heart rate, and slow digestion. Boosting low vagal tone can also help with medical conditions like epilepsy, high blood pressure, Parkinson’s disease, rheumatoid arthritis, atherosclerosis, inflammatory bowel disease, diabetes, and cardiovascular disease, and prevent early mortality.

Which chakra controls nerves?

The crown chakra, linked to every other chakra and organ in the system, affects the brain and nervous system, affecting our connection to life’s purpose and spirituality. It is considered the chakra of enlightenment and represents our connection to our life’s purpose and spirituality. Blocked crown chakras may lead to narrow-mindedness, skepticism, or stubbornness. Open crown chakras help keep all other chakras open, bringing bliss and enlightenment.

Chakra patterns have specific terms and recommended treatments. If you’re interested in chakras, information about chakra balancing and realignment can be found, which can involve yoga, meditation, chakra cleansing, bodywork, and music. These practices can help maintain a balance and promote enlightenment.

What emotions are associated with the vagus nerve?

Stephen Porges, a neuroscientist, developed the polyvagal theory, which suggests that stress responses can be regulated through body reactivity, cognitive and emotional function, and social behavior. The vagus nerve, a large neural pathway between the body and the brain, controls various functions and is susceptible to multiple influences. It plays a crucial role in physical health by regulating stress responses, creating emotional experiences, and influencing behavior. Porges’ research highlights the interconnectedness of body reactivity, cognitive function, and social behavior.

What chakra governs the vagus nerve?

The Vagus nerve, a part of the yogic practice known as Kundalini, runs from the colon to the brain and is associated with the root chakra and crown chakra. It is directly related to Kundalini energy, which purifies and activates the seven main vortexes along the spine, known as chakras. When activated, Kundalini brings prana to various organs and glands along this vital channel, maintaining the body’s pristine health. The Vagus nerve, the 10th cranial ventricle, extends from the colon to the brain and collects data from various organs and glands, including the stomach, heart, thymus, and thyroid.

Both the Vagus Nerve and Kundalini energy run along the spinal cord and interact with glands and organs along the spine. To awaken the Kundalini energy, it can balance this energy center, assisting in the twirling of the Vagus Nerve. Kundalini is activated when meditation allows the ida and pingala nadis (Divine Masculine and Divine Feminine aspects) to harmonize and travel up the spine to the crown, connecting our inner Heaven and Earth.

How to repair a vagus nerve?

To strengthen the vagus nerve, alternate-nostril breathing, cold compresses, being quiet, deep breathing, complimenting others, connecting with nature, diaphragmatic breathing, and eating a whole-foods diet are recommended. The vagus nerve is responsible for keeping the autonomic nervous system in check and representing our gut feelings about potential dangers. It protects us from emotional and autoimmune challenges, including loud noises, past traumas, current stress stimulations, infections, heavy metal exposure, chemical exposure, pollutants, toxins, and other external stimuli.

Heart rate variability (HRV) is a useful tool to measure vagal tone and can be a great indicator of overall health and healing ability. It helps complex neck patients monitor the effects of various stressors on their life and how their vagal tone is improving during Prolotherapy and cervical curve correction treatment series. HRV monitors can also be used to check in on one’s own health. By taking an honest look at HRV and understanding what causes it to increase or decrease, individuals can learn more about themselves and their vagus nerve’s health.

  • Re: the physicist who needs proof… Acupuncture points are actually tiny chakras on their own. They connect to the larger network of energy websites and greater chakras. The acupuncture points have a different electrical potential on the surface of the skin than “off point.” This is quantifiable! The point your guest danced around is that these energy centers (located at specific points along the spinal cord) “inform” the nervous system much like any other sensory organ does. And, since the Vagus nerve runs from the brain to the feet, it communicates with all 7 energy centers.

  • IMMEDIATE RELIEF can be achieved through polyvagal exercises – this is one: while lying on your back, interlock your fingers and place your hands behind your skull, then, without moving your head, look at a side for +60 seconds. When you get a sigh and your breathing becomes slow means it’s working. You can do it in other postures, experiment. Other info: Holotropic breathing is probably the most effective technique for trauma release. Probably too intense for some people, though. Hypnosis is underrated. Binaural beats do work. And if you want a soft, yet deep technique, try shavasana – just lie down on a hard enough surface(so that your muscles relax and that you won’t sleep), accept your sensations continuously and don’t move for an hour or two. During that time you can also do the polyvagal exercises for the eyes, although there is benefit to be completely with your body. Love.

  • Hello, I do not get the link between Vagus nerve & Chakras directly, I think if you have Vagul nerve dysfunction, this could some how energetically affect chakras as if you have Vagul nerve dysfunction you are seriously out of wack from the limbic system to the digestive system. ‘The Miracle of the Vagus Nerve’ is the best course I have found in regards to ‘how to’ balance either under or over active. The movements she teaches really really help. And she is very knowledgeable on the Vagus nerve. You need to do a lot more than just alter your breath. Dr Peter Levine is also an expert in this area. I do not think balancing chakras would fully balance Vagus nerve function, but I do think correcting Vagus nerve dysfunction could have some energetic affect on chakras…

  • I learned so much from this interview and will listen to it again because, I want a better understanding of what I was hearing and learning, there were so many things that I didn’t know. And so much of it made so much sense. This was awesome. Thank you. This is deep, and I’ve had to put on different listening ears, as her style and delivery are different then what I normally have listened to. I am so grateful for all these wonderful teachers. And I am oh so curious.

  • dearest suzanne-since you have been such an outstanding teacher for me i thought i might offer up an interesting tidbit for those who like to do their own research. we often crave sugar (especially dark chocolate because it is high in magnesium!) to attract the very thing we are most in need of. it takes a tremendous amount of magnesium to process sugar in our bodies -the ratio is outstanding once you understand the concept. when we take in supplemental magnesium say at 400 MG (milligrams) but eat sugar (chocolate will often have 7 G (grams) we often end up depleting magnesium in our bodies. 1 gram = 1,000 mg. so if you eat a piece of chocolate with 7,000 mg of sugar but take in 400 mg of supplemental magnesium we will always end up short. taking in more magnesium (always best to eat rich food sources as supplements are just that-supplemental to our diet if our diet is lacking). the most important detail (the attention and intention is often in the details) is to reduce the sugar so we are not robbing ourselves of the magnesium we get from real foods. sugar is not a food it is actually an anti-nutrient (something that takes more away from our body than it gives). if we focus our attention on increasing our magnesium often our sugar cravings go away. hope this helps and many blessings to all who struggle with sugar cravings.

  • Hi Suzanne, I struggled with this interview as well and I wondered it you were familiar with Sandra Anne Taylor. She wrote a book called ‘Your Quantum Break-Through Code’ which she believes was websiteed to her in a dream. A gift from Spirit that utilised the 25 years of her studying quantum physics and neuroscience. It is a method that works with the Third Eye chakra. It is very detailed and clearly explains exactly what, how and why the technique works.

  • Wow, great wisdom here❣️ Thank You so much!!! A day late to the live stream, but I did notice 11K views and only $284 donated to our service women and men and their families. If everyone who viewed this donated $1, that would equate to $11K. I challenge everyone to take the time to donate $1 or more for those who serve our country. Blessings to All❣️

  • Beautiful. As a midwife, calling birth “trauma” and “life or death” is not entirely true. Birth is safe and normal for healthy women. Birth can be extremely healing, especially for women who have experienced previous birth traumas and/or sexual trauma. But labeling birth as “traumatic” as the norm sets our standards very low.

  • Hi, i found it interesting as im a relaxation therapist. However to be honest I found the information given was disjointed and really did not clearly explain the connection between charkras and vagus nerve. Im spiritual and for ones that are not it is too complex in the way she tried to explain it. I dont mean to offend but rather give honest feedback.
