For me, this remains the greatest show ever. There are some truly great episodes and it remains strong today. Its a shame that it lost its edge towards the end, though I’d say after the “Samantha” storyline line ended in such a disappointing way, it never truly recovered, though remained very enjoyable.
I remember stumbling on the first episode while flipping through websites, about 1/3 in of it’s duration, not knowing if it was a TV show or a movie I was perusal. When I realized it was a TV show, I tuned in next week, and boy what a ride the second episode was!!! I was immediately hooked on it. It got progressively worse after season 5, but there were so many iconic episodes by then. One of the best TV shows from the 90’s, and maybe ever.
My dad and I were late bloomers to the show. We never had commercial television so until Netflix I had no idea the amazing shows that existed in the 90’s and how huge they were. Those were the days. Waiting with extreme anticipation for that red envelope with our new X-Files dvd 😆 I enjoyed the movie and it helped the show feel complete. I didn’t mind that the show continued after the movie though. I don’t think people realize how relevant certain topics the show presents are. It’s like they KNEW
8:12 I had always thought Scully didn’t see the giant UFO at the film’s end as well, until just a few days ago when I rewatched the movie for the first time in many years and had the subtitles on. It turns out after Mulder says “you gotta see this, Scully” as the craft is flying away, she is actually exhuastedly repeating to him “I saw it,… I saw it too”. You don’t see Scully’s mouth moving because her jacket flap is covering her face as she is turning to Mulder saying the lines, but you can kind of hear her saying the words under the sound of the music score if you know they’re there. So yeah, who knew? I know I didn’t, I had always assumed Scully was just confused and murmuring to herself after the ordeal of recovering from the virus while escaping the facility/UFO. It kind of feels like the film-makers deliberately obfuscated Anderson’s actual line delivery so that you’re not really sure if Scully did or did not see the craft, and can make up your own mind about it.
Interesting thing the writer Thomas Ligotti was once involved making a script for an episode although only the script is present as the episode was never produced if it had been then it would have been one of the weirdest and that’s saying with what the show is about, most surreal horror episodes in the series.
This takes me back niyat. I was in the equivalent of high school back then when it came out. Graduated at the turn of the Millennium. I used to love the show when it came on. Plus I had the first film on DVD. So many classic episodes. The cannibal family on a farm really freaked me out. Plus the soil guy who could move under a neighborhood because it was built on a landfill freaked me out lol
One of the best shows ever. They had a episode where a little kid was possessed or something along those lines. The episode was released on Christmas Day or Easter. I can’t recall now, but it was a Christian holiday. I remember being terrified double due to the episode and the nature of it and it also being a religious holiday. Crazy episode and fun times.
It would be worth one more movie to finalize the whole show….either expose the global conspiracy and defeat it, or Mulder and Skully realize they can’t win and just go off to some wilderness retreat to live out their lives together as humanity begins the great fall to the aliens…either way, FINISH IT.
Eastside Low Bottoms sh*t ! Tappin’ in from South Central LA I don’t remember how I discovered the show. It had to be during season 4 or 5. Either way, once I got started I was a bit obsessed. By 8:59pm there had to be complete silence at home ! Lol. I recently finished binge perusal all of the alien conspiracy shows over the course of a few weeks. Still a great watch !
I have become really picky when it comes to sci-fi because growing up with these series, even some that came way before my time but I later found out about them and like with X Files, I became hooked, I find it hard to not judge current series when these set the bar high. The X Files is among the best sci-fi series ever. It is a crown jewel of TV and the first movie is really good and to this day, unnerving. The black oil or purity virus is damn right scary.
One of the most brilliant series ever, but isn’t it weird how the look of that ‘ Black Cancer ‘ goo stuff looks a bit similar to the black goo stuff in the Alien saga, forgive me not remembering which Alien movie it’s shown in, but I remember seeing it snd straight away thought how similar both looked. Wouldn’t it be great if Alien Saga and The XFiles were linked in some way? 😀
I love this film. One complaint (not against the film) which I’ve been bitching about for years, is the complete vanishing of Armin Mueller Stahl’s Strughold; a character who is presented as if he were this great mastermind behind the Syndicate. But after the film we never see him, hear from him or even get a mention of him again (outside of a small reference to Diana Fowley taking frequent trips to Tunisia).
Talk about opposites attract BUT ALSO happen to become Soul Mates trope indeed. Mulder an Skully go from mutually antagonizing and mistrusting each other at the very start to from the 2nd or 3rd season on or so are basically married or regard each other as such. Least secretly seems like. Seems like those 2 had they not been show cast an met each other naturally under any other means woulda either eventually married or come to despise each other as arch rivals… Even the 2 or 3 other agents that eventually join them late series ALSO come to also believe in their mission becoming pretty capable allies. They got pretty lucky though in so many ways that NEITHER woulda made it in real life had they not been issued head to toe plot armor assigned to them on becoming casts when the series began.
I’ve been hoping to hear of at least one final season or movie that can fully wrap up Mulder & Scully’s story!! Giving the fans a kinda happy as can be ending!! With maybe a tease for a new show set with the same feel of the original series!! Like maybe there Son takes over the lead role!! As leader of the X-files team but with a larger team this time round and There son working with an Independent Organization of Independent X-file teams continuing where F.M & D.S left off!! AS a Human alien hybrid works with other Hybrids from a more of a peace keeping kind of Aliens works to keep fighting against the Greys and any other race wanting to colonize earth and kill off humanity!!

Это мой любимый фильм, я настолько к этому так привыкла, его много раз показывали по телевидению, я его помню очень хорошо. Это самый лучший фильм из всех фа, которые борьба за будущее, которые мне очень нравилось, это единственный фильм, который раскрыл всё, что было до этого сериала “секретные материалы раскрыл здесь всю их работу всех душевные отношения друг с другом”. Всю дружескую именно их, вот это дружелюбное состояние, которое они друг с другом никогда там толком в других сезонах не было, это отдельный фильм, а ещё какой. Какой-то душевный такой тёплый, этот фильм горячий, что вот именно рассказано всё, что связано с. Ну да, немножко спорили друг с другом постоянно, как-то у них-это спор, что не ему, что он прав. Он пытался доказать, что он прав везде пытался ей доказать в этом, и ему давалось доказать, искали во всём. Здесь объясняется вот это дружелюбные отношения друг с другом, здесь объясняется профессионализм, то, что 1 и другой профессионал-ска-скептик с, но таки он медперт. А на патологоанатом и на вскрытие этого пожарника, который не проводили, искали, попытался сделать вскрытие. Как раз-таки там за ней и выследили её? В другом месте. Ожидаю, что учёные имена увидят эти кости, так оно и есть кости увидели, что они изречены были. И под микроскопом не разглядели на самом деле, что с этими костями произошло как будто их кто-то вы оттуда.
Back in the day, I heard that the show was supposed to be different. They would be hunting down aliens and so on, but it was always Mulder that saw them as the monster, while Scully would be always finding a logical explanation, like a serial killer that believed he was an alien, or a death cult, or some other stuff, based on the remaining evidences. The dinamic was always something like Mr Hyde, in the movie “Van Helsing”, kill the monster, it turns human or it disappears. And it would include some government conspiracyes as well, even area 51 was going to be there. The alleged reason for that change is that it would never work for more than one season or two. They would run out of ideas very fast. The pilot episode has a little of the original ideas and vibes on it. Also, one “little” detail that nobody seems to notice: if Mulder wins, destroying the sindicate, the ONLY HOPE FOR THE SURVIVAL OF HUMANITY DIES. They are the only ones that have the resources and the knowledge to stop the aliens, making the vaccine. Theyr methodes are horrible, but theyr plan is sacrificing some tousands to save some billions.
I love the x files soooo much . Lol I have fond memory of a cpl weeks in a hotel with a website that had 24/7 season by season marathon lol I was loving it . Always loved how each ep would be about something new and always could be funny, sad, crazy, wholesomr, etc but still tie in l the main plot points . Also love this website!!
Having re-watched the mythology episodes recently, I was reminded of how great they are but also what didn’t work for me. By the time Season 3 comes around, Scully’s skepticism becomes more annoying than it does narrative supporting. Her rigid black and whiteness goes too far in that she becomes robotic in her view of reality. By the time Season 5 rolls around, she has seen so much and obtained the “proof” she so sorely desires. All these years later it felt like the show would have been better served if they were truly in it together. I know it eventually comes around but Scully’s certainty about what was happening in Season 3 is more ludicrous than what the facts show. Its like come on Dana, you just saw little green men and had an alien chip taken out of your neck!
It was never called the “purity virus”. The only time we hear it called Purity Control is in the first season. This is the name of atleast part of the Syndicates hybrid/clone program involving the alien virus. It was later called the “black oil” or “The black cancer” (by Russian test subjects). Mostly anything insidious on The X Files did not have a common name for most of the series. It was only referred to as “The Virus” during the movie.
I loved this show back in the day and still love it now. I try to rewatch it in its entirety at least once a year. However, I gave up on the conspiracy stuff around season 6. It just got far too convoluted, confusing and eye rollingingly bad. They kept adding even more elements rather than answering questions about it (also they kind of lost me when they started going on about Dyson spheres and the vaccine stuff got into iffy anti-vaccine territory). I much preferred it when the conspiracy stuff was more grounded in reality and sense (ie government coverups and trying to make a deal with the colonists rather than the aforementioned Dyson sphere gumph) . That said, good article. You make a lot of sense of the conspiracy elements up until the 1st movie.

И пытайся наручники одеть на него, но опять же он её пытается душить и как-то её удалось вырваться. Вот это хорошо, я момент помню, ты же с каким-то монстром связана. Вот это тоже моменты интересные, потом именно. Тоже 1 из монстров, тоже чек превращается в другого. Именно другой человек был и превращается в совершенно в другого человека. Тоже что-то с монстрами такое, это не человек, оказывается, инопланетяне на него стреляли и зелёная кровь вместо настоящей, и кого толел резко и кто-то кричал от боли, даже вспомните тоже монстр далеко вспомнить тоже. Досточки ехал такой человек без ног. И 1 какой-то очень такой мужчина, статный высокий, он видно был, ну полноватый ростом. Ладно, он видно был такой. Богатый человек. И вдруг ему появляется вот это. Ну, я не знаю, как его назвать появляется этот человек без ног и почему-то только ему другие никто его не видит и тоже после этого случается беда, смерть него происходит, вот этот человек, который когда появляется. Значит где то будет смерть и почему то он несёт такую зло вот тоже монстр удивитесь этого тоже монстра

Just seen the awful advert for a the Google phone again, must be the 100th time in 24 hours. I just bought a new phone, the Google was one I considered, but this advert struck it off my list and I bought Samsung instead! It’s one thing youtube playing adverts, but do they not realise the amount and repetitive nature scares people off what they are advertising? Anyway I enjoyed the article despite the interruptions from awful YouTube Google advert.

I was a bit disappointed in the two reboot seasons 10 and 11 because I felt a lot was wasted on shows that didn’t relate to the main point of the Xfiles I wanted more explanations and more episodes of William and aliens and government stuff I thought a few episodes in season 10 were going to go that way but then when season 11 came out they hardly covered it and it turned out to be a vision of Scully and all they did was locate William but not much happens other than smoking man finally died and Scully is pregnant again her vision didn’t happen and won’t now because smoking man is dead so we need season 12 or the third movie because the X files was to dang good to end like that and they better hurry cuz I know Gillian doesn’t want to do another season but will do a movie and they are getting old Hurry up and finish the story we need more lol

Он пытался их просто прикрывать, потому что взрыв в башни, взрыв того здания, не того здания был взрыв, а в другом здании взрыв произошло, оказывается. А здесь взрыв только был много, где вот лимонадный, вот этот. Лимонадный стенд. И он, конечно, немножко их поругал за это то, что они не в то здание попали. Ну, всё равно. Даже когда они пытались уже попрощаться друг с другом, что скали переводят другое штат юта. Перевод уже получен Малдер, не мог в это поверить, что она бросает вот так всё. Что она оставляет его 1, она говорит ему, что я тебя оставила 1 уже всё ничего не вернёшь назад и выходит из его комнаты. Он бежит за ней. Он пытается остановить её уговорить остаться. У меня слёзы на глазах появляются и грустно. То, что она уйдёт. Она пытается сказать ей, что не уходи, останься, если ты уйдёшь, и они победят. Она так говорила, ей не накатились слёзы. На звучно вздохнула. И слёзы покатились по щекам. Она поцеловала его в лоб. И долгий момент такой друг у друга. Модер почти целовать её, и вдруг укусил её пчела резко. Она от него оттолкнулась и мгновенно. Потеряю то место, где пчела сильно укусила её. Она достала её оттуда, ты ещё жива была. Искали стало плохо мгновенно в этот момент. Она говорила, что у неё так горечь во рту какая-то. Ей было не по себе плохо. Вызов скорую, но скоро перехватили другие люди и забрали её совсем в другое место, не в больнице.
Даже мальчишки, которые увидели дыру, решили что-то выкопать там, не знаю, с лопатой туда 1 мальчишка провалился туда. И какая-то жидкость чёрная ему затмил глаза в этот момент, ему как-то было плохо. Потом уже подъезжал на пожарной машины, что-то ребёнка забирали на скорой, соскали в этот момент, встретились, увидели новый газон. Увидели детей, которые подъезжали на велосипедах, проезжали окликнули их. В начале, по-моему, там что-то общение произошло, опоздал туда и присел, и там задавались вопросы, они задавали вопрос конкретно, что произошло, где что происходило, как всё это было, и. Или рассказать о том что как они обнаружили что в этом здании бомба даже об этом они должны были рассказать
Man this wasnt even the best part about The X Files. I get that this was part of the over arching plot but the show had so many great opportunities to make stand alone episodes that got to explore different sc fi concepts that were so great and stood out on their own. Hope you can cover some of those.

Personally, I can’t watch the movie with the same excitement as I had at age 18 when it was released. Perhaps perusal it more than a few times diminished its uniqueness. Yet, the show itself interweaved its main story. At first, his sister was abducted, as he had witnessed. Then, with his doubts, they capture a kidnapper/murderer who abducted her. Then it’s his sister with clones. Apart from their break from the serious genre, which was fair when it happened a few times, not in constant… Given all the shifts, it lost its main story Gish and Patrick were okay substitutes, for a short bit. The whole thing with Scully’s baby, when pursued by Terry O’Quinn and a group of others. Who were stopped by curtained ground minerals. With their only purpose just to witness the kid then leave was, well, Stupid. All that tension and drama resulting with a bland end. As for that group, what the hell came of them? I never saw the second movie, it didn’t look as interesting, and the critiques weren’t so good. I never got to see the rebooted mini season(s), but at that point, I guess I didn’t need to. Well, it had its strength and importance through the mid 90s. Anyhow, this is just a Personal point of view.

И они лезли после этого под дре добрались наконец-то до верха, там снежно, там снег, и они потом просто летели, бежали, летели и как бы. Грин вступали на землю, как должно быть лежали оба.
