To use your Disney MagicBand+ before scanning into the parks, follow these steps:
- Power on your MagicBand+ by pressing the button on the back in the lower right corner.
- Tap your band to the park or dining reservation. If you purchased Lightning Lane passes, you can use your MagicBand+ to access Lightning Lane entrances.
- Order Magic Bands for staying at a Walt Disney World Resort hotel and access the My Disney Experience website. Link your resort reservation to your account and personalize your bands.
- Open the MyDisneyExperience or Disneyland app and hover over the “My Disney Experience” link on the top right. Click on “My MagicBands”.
- Share your MagicBand+ with your friends and family to ensure they have access to your account.
- Check your My Disney Experience app to see if your tickets are linked. If not, link them.
- Log in to the Disney app and navigate to the Account Page. Click “Link to Account” and choose “Link MagicBand or Card”. Enter your MagicBand ID Number.
- Magic Bands are already “active” and can be assigned to someone through MDE and attached to a park or other reservation. The “active” label in MDE means that the bands are still linked to your name, account, and reservation.
- Once logged in, link your resort reservation to your My Disney Experience account. This step is crucial as it paves the way for customizing and using your MagicBand+ in the parks.

Let’s talk about MagicBand, MagicBand+ and everything you need to know at Walt Disney World! Is it worth it? What does it do?
How do I know if my MagicBand is linked to my reservation?
In order to link your MagicBand, navigate to your account page and select the “My Profile” option. The section entitled “MagicBands and Cards” contains a list of all the MagicBands that have been successfully linked and are currently in use. Furthermore, it is possible to link a MagicBand and reset its PIN number. To accomplish this, one must visit the Disney World website.
Can I use my MagicBand from 5 years ago?
You can use a MagicBand from a previous Walt Disney World vacation for your next one as long as it is active in your My Disney Experience account. The MagicBand’s battery can last up to two years, so you can use it for multiple vacations. However, your MagicBand’s 5-6 year old battery may not be functional and is sealed, making it impossible to change or check at home. It’s recommended to bring your MagicBand on your Walt Disney World vacation and check if it works for park entry. If the battery is depleted, you can purchase a new MagicBand at various Walt Disney World stores. If you want to purchase MagicBands before your vacation, shopDisney offers a great selection.
Should I pair all MagicBands to my phone?
Allison suggests linking her family’s MagicBands to her My Disney Experience account to make it easier to manage their plans. This will allow her to assign each MagicBand to a specific child, making it easier to scan into theme parks and access Genie+ Lightening Lanes. To link the MagicBands, go to the My Disney Experience app, click on the “MagicBands and More” tile, and select “Link a MagicBand or Card” under your child’s name. You can use the scanner feature or manually enter the MagicBand number from the back of the MagicBand.
Follow the prompts to add the MagicBands. Allison is excited for her upcoming visit to Walt Disney World, especially during the 50th Anniversary Celebration. She encourages her to visit again with any questions.
When should I link my MagicBand?
The MagicBands can be linked to your My Disney Experience account as soon as they are available. This process is easy on the My Disney Experience mobile app. When submitting a question, please refrain from providing ideas or suggestions, as your submission constitutes your consent to the free and unrestricted use and disclosure of your information. Personal information, such as full names and reservation numbers, should not be included. The menu is automatically set to the panelist you were reviewing, but you can ask anyone on the panel.
Are Disney tickets automatically link to MagicBand?
To link park tickets to your MagicBand, you can use the My Disney Experience app. If you have purchased a full Walt Disney World package, your park tickets should already be loaded into the app and associated with your MagicBand. If not, you can add them manually. Once linked, your MagicBand will be automatically linked to all your active MagicBands. To link tickets, tap the hamburger icon at the bottom of the app screen and select “Link to Account”.
This process works for tickets purchased through Disney and third-party vendors. The MagicBands are highly adjustable, allowing them to accommodate everyone from preschoolers to linebackers. Proper sizing is key to comfort, so keep adjusting until you get the fit just right.
How to make sure MagicBands are linked?
In order to establish a connection between your MagicBand+ and your smart device, it is necessary to follow the steps outlined below: 1) Activate the device by depressing the button on the reverse side.
2) Establish a connection between the device and the band by touching them together.
3) Follow the instructions provided by the application to link to an account and pair with the device.
How do I link my MagicBand to my reservation?
To link MagicBands purchased online from shopDisney or in a retail shop, use the ID numbers on the underside of the band. Link them to your My Disney Experience account online or through the app. Tap “MagicBands and More” and scroll down to “Link your MagicBand or Card”. Once linked, a MagicBand will work with any tickets or reservations linked to that guest and can be reused with new reservations or tickets. If you have any further questions, visit planDisney.
How do I know if my MagicBand is activated?
The MagicBand+, initially appearing unfunctional, can be turned on by tapping it. To check battery status, use the My Disney Experience mobile app with a paired smartphone. Press the button on the backside of the MagicBand+ to see the band’s lighting colors, which can provide the current battery status. The band should not flash red after pressing the button. If you have any further questions, feel free to contact us.
Do MagicBands come pre-linked?
Ordering pre-arrival MagicBands as part of a Disney World resort stay offers three advantages: a small discount, easy identification of the band’s owner, and the ability to manage them in My Disney Experience. However, MagicBand+ bands require pairing with a phone for management.
To link a MagicBand or MagicBand+, use the My Disney Experience app. For a MagicBand+, power on the band, tap it to the back of your smartphone, and follow the prompts. If not possible, tap the hamburger icon at the bottom of the app screen and select “Link to Account”.
Scan the QR code or barcode on the back of the band using your phone’s camera, hold the MagicBand against your phone, and type in the serial number from the back of the band. This process is the fastest and easiest way to manage MagicBands in My Disney Experience.
What does pairing your MagicBand do?
To pair a MagicBand+ with My Disney Experience, ensure that the MagicBand+ is charged and Bluetooth enabled on your phone. Tap the Hamburger, scroll down to MagicBands and Cards, and select the person whose MagicBand+ you want to pair. Make sure MagicBand+ is selected in the top slider menu, and tap through to the MagicBand+ you want to pair (if there are more). Hold down the button on the back for three seconds, then tap “Pair” when you see the request on your phone.
If you don’t see the pairing request, it’s usually due to not holding down the button long enough or not holding the MagicBand+ close enough to the phone. This process is only necessary if you want to change the settings of your MagicBand+.
How far in advance do you get MagicBands?
MagicBands are shipped within 11 days of the order date. Alternatively, guests may choose to pick up their MagicBands at the resort upon check-in, provided that the order is placed at least six days prior to arrival. Furthermore, MagicBands are available for purchase at various merchandise locations within the parks and at Disney Springs.
