Which Spells Are Added By Dawnguard?

The Elder Scrolls V: Dawnguard add-on introduces three new blessings, four new dragon shouts (three of which are player-accessible), and nine new spells. It also introduces new features in Lycanthropy and general Vampirism, with the Vampire Lord form being entirely new. The add-on allows players to smith Dragonbone Weapons, Crossbows, Crossbow Bolts, and Arrows, as well as a few new features.

Players can side with the Volkihar Vampire Clan, led by Lord Harkon, a Volikhar vampire lord, and become a Vampire Lord yourself or side with the Dawnguard. The add-on also includes a spell book for “necromantic healing” and offers a ride to the ferry driver in solitude, dawnstar, or windhelm.

The Dawnguard add-on also introduces Sun Damage Spells, Necromantic Conjuration, and many Vampire spells. Players must become a Vampire to obtain these spells, and Stendarr’s Aura has no effect on the living. Sun Fire and Vampire’s Bane appear as “resisted” when used against a living opponent.

The add-on also introduces “Dawnguard Beam Spells”, which add multiple spells in the form of beams. These beams are not OP beams or “not lore-friendly” beams, but rather, they boost the spell power of the three Restoration spells and the damage of the weapons wielded by the Dawnguard.

In summary, The Elder Scrolls V: Dawnguard add-on introduces several new features, including new Dragon Shouts, blessings, and spells. Players can now side with the Volkihar Vampire Clan, become a Vampire Lord, or side with the Dawnguard.

📹 Skyrim Dawnguard Vampire Lord Guide – Perk Tree – Spells

This is a helpful tips video for just starting out as a Vampire Lord in the New Skyrim Dawnguard DLC. I go over just the basics.

Can I join the Dawnguard if I cure vampirism?

The level of your Vampire status in the Volkihar questline depends on your current stage. If you’re near the end of the quest, being a Vampire isn’t necessary, and you can finish the Dawnguard questline as a Werewolf. However, if you’re in the early stages, Harkon will ask you to return to being a Vampire Lord, which will remove your Lycanthropy. Without this, you can’t talk to Harkon or progress through the questline.

What is better Dawnguard or vampire?

The Dawnguard questline in The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim is determined by the faction players choose to align with. The choice affects access to Castle Volkihar and better weapons. Players who want permanent access to Castle Volkihar should side with the Vampires, while those seeking a trustworthy faction and better weapons should side with the Dawnguard. The game is available on various platforms, including PS3, PS4, PS5, Xbox 360, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, and PC.

What if I refuse to become a vampire in Dawnguard?

The Dawnguard downloadable content (DLC) presents two distinct perspectives: the Vampire side, which can be accessed through dialogue, and the Dawnguard side, which can be declined. Both paths ultimately lead to the same conclusion, and thus, the decision does not affect the ultimate outcome.

Do you still get serana as a follower if you join the Dawnguard?

Serana is a pure-blood vampire who accompanies players through the Dawnguard questline. Her father is the vampire Lord Harkon. Despite choosing your side, Serana remains helpful. She was imprisoned in Dimhollow Crypt with an Elder Scroll. Her vampiric blood grants her the title Daughter of Coldharbour. If you complete the questline, Serana becomes a permanent follower. She can be cured if you play the Dawnguard and treat her well.

How will the Dawnguard react if I become a vampire?

The Dawnguard is regarded as the “benevolent” option for vampires; however, Isran is disinclined to collaborate with them if they are vampires themselves. He will direct them to pursue a cure and will not collaborate with them until they have done so.

What is the rarest type of Dragonborn?

Dragonborn are typically descended from metallic or chromatic true dragons, with rarer subraces like brown, gray, purple, adamantine, mithral, and steel. Dragonborn descended from dragon turtles, mirage, fey, and shadow dragons also exist, though rare. The adamantine subrace represents scale color and racial traits. The ability score increases by 1 when the choice of Constitution or Charisma score is made. Dragonborn descended from adamantine dragons of the Underway also exist.

Which DLC is better, Dragonborn or Dawnguard?

Dragonborn is a captivating story with a mysterious, creepy tone and elements of eldritch horror. If the year ended now, who would win the Game of the Year Award? 2023 was a tough year to top, but 2024 had some standouts like Dragon’s Dogma 2, Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2, and Helldivers 2. Narrative-driven games have the ability to touch our hearts and emotions just as much as TV shows and movies. Shadow of the Colossus is a game that still haunts us to this day.

If you could only play three games for the rest of your life, they would cover various genres, such as replayability, difficulty balances, originality, and virtual world immersion. Some popular games include Red Dead Redemption 2, GTA 5, and Baldur’s Gate 3, while live service games like Fortnite and indie simulators like Stardew Valley would also be considered.

How to get Dawnguard spells as a vampire?

Castle Volkihar’s main questline involves visiting Fort Dawnguard and casting the master level Calm spell (Harmony) to pacify everyone in the castle. The woman working the forge should be able to buy Dawnguard spells as long as the spell is in effect.

Your IP address has been temporarily blocked due to a large number of HTTP requests. Common causes include the latest version of the Opera browser sending multiple invalid requests to servers for every page visited, using the Brave browser or Ghostery add-on, which sends extra traffic to servers for every page visited, and using unofficial phone apps that do not behave like a real web browser.

Users should stop using these browsers until the problem is corrected. Unofficial phone apps may also cause IP blocks indefinitely. Additionally, users should avoid using scripts or add-ons that scan GameFAQs for box and screen images, running “scraper” or “downloader” programs, using poorly configured browser add-ons, or overusing the search engine with large searches in a short amount of time. If users promise to stop, their connection will be unblocked for now, but they will re-block it if additional bad behavior is detected.

Can you marry Serana?

Can you marry Serana?

Serana, a vampire companion, can be a partner for players in the Dawnguard DLC. However, it is not possible to marry vampires in vanilla Skyrim without the help of mods. To marry Serana, players must have the Dawnbreaker DLC installed or the Special or Anniversary Edition of Skyrim. To install the Marriable Serana mod, download the files from the Nexus Mods website, extract them to the game folder, and then proceed to marry her.

To marry Serana, players must complete the Bonds of Matrimony quest, which involves talking to Maramal at the Temple of Mara in Riften. The Amulet of Mara, which can be obtained after completing the Book of Love quest, can be obtained from Maramal for 200 gold or found as random loot. After receiving the amulet, players must complete the Kindred Judgment Quest and inform Serana’s mother Valerica that it’s safe to return.

Can I be Dawnguard and a vampire?

The Dawnguard form offers better physical rewards, but regular use of the powerful Vampire Lord form requires completion of the main questline. However, playing as a Dawnguard member does not prevent you from becoming a Vampire Lord. After the main questline and exhaustion of Fort Dawnguard, you can ask Serana to turn you into a vampire. The majority of the main questline remains the same, including the beginning, end, and your new vampire companion, Serana.

There are multiple points during the main questline where you can become a vampire Lord, including after completing it. If you were previously a werewolf but converted to vampire, you can switch back by speaking to your previous follower.

  • Really love the bat swarm effect, that’s one of my favorite and coolest vampire abilities. I know it would be overpowered, but you should add if possible two top tier perks – one for camouflaging your true appearance, and the other for continuous bat-flight. It could be somewhat faster than a horse for balance sake, or crazy fast, like when Kain travels in Legacy of Kain. What would i give to try that one!

  • Personally Im using a save point before dawnguard to go through both story lines. If youve already started one quest line I think youre on it. Either use my method or youre going to have to start over. If you havent started either and youre a vampire I think you get a choice at that point which you want to do.

  • Word of advice and please put this on your next article for all to know: the vampiric drain ball for the lord may seem weak, but it is a glitch if serana is your follower. Have her not be your follower and its power will increase substantially. With her following you, it does about 10 health damage. No serana means much more. Bethesda will be fixing this soon

  • I’m a Kahjit. With 100 sneak which I worked so very hard to obtain.I snuck up on a sleeping dragon one time and killed it with one hit. I see myself as an assassin I duel wield Dadric daggers that do 50 damage each. If I do a sneak attack I do 15x normal damage. In all that’s 750 damage with one sneak strike. I can also turn into a cloud of shadows and clear a whole room without a single person knowing I’m there. I usually wear light armor mostly nightingale with officer gloves and no helmet.

  • Not really, at least once you get Night Power and Unearthly Will, especially if you have Necromage before you take them (and before you become a Vampire Lord). If you’re 46 (and have Necromage), you’ll have an addiitonal 250 Magicka while in VL form (and 62 from Power of the Grave). There’s also a ring you get from sidequests that increases your Magicka by 100 (or 125) while in VL form. And then there’s the Bloodstone Chalice which causes your Drain Life to restore Magicka and Stamina.

  • i’ve played both ways, first as a member of the dawnguard, then i went back to vampire master. it was tough letting go of my wolf side, even though i rarely used it, but i have to say….being a vampire was fucking awesome!! lol. i still liked the dawnguard portion of the DLC, but i highly suggest everyone at least TRY being a vampire, for at least one play through. you have an infinite number of save points, why not?

  • Id go with the dark elf. But the yes magicka matters but your previous skills do not. If you havent put any points into magicka then that may be youre only downfall to being a vampire lord. While thier perks do ump your magika stats up you might have a small bar to work with. nonetheless its still sick!

  • What I hate about this tho is that you can never revert yourself back every time you press B it just takes you to perk tree instead of menu it kinda sucks cuz it’s permanent. I usually go to werewolf considering it allows you to switch back whenever you want, making it the better choice just for convenience. You can’t really do or use anything as a vampire or even check your map—actually not being able to check your map as a vampire lord is a pretty big con imo

  • Vampire Lord is overpowered no matter what your character is, especially if you have Necromage and side with the Volkihar. You end up with massive stat bonuses in VL form so it doesn’t matter if you only have 100 base Magicka. You can spam AoE Drain Life attacks that can restore your health, magicka and stamina.

  • also the origional skyrim telekinesis in alteration could not trow people, only small objects, this is why the vampire telekinesis is NOT the same as the previous skyrim telekinesis, this is something new and in mage class, a breaktrue, having enough power to pick up a person with your mind, try to think about how much power that must use if a arch mage can only pick up pots

  • tgm is so much fun for me. I just start a new character in master and go to town, pick up any loot i want and never have to be out of stamina or mana. don’t get me wrong, I have 2 totally legit characters that I never used console commands with, it’s just fun to use them on alts. After all, xbox players hate us because we can use them and they can’t. Let’s see someone get the Psyjic robes on the 360 lol

  • finally its fun to be a vampire i tried it (without DLC) and damn it was frustrating and iritating i ended in an situation: i was in whiterun just outside trying to find sleeping farmes and then there just pops out a dragon and it attacks people and if i help them they will attack me and if i didnt do anything they would die too that sucked

  • Okay, so i just read a comment of someone badmouthing werewolves… My friend are you dumb? Werewolves are masters of close range, they can have a high armor rating (400-560) High crit ratio, high base damage (160 at maximum) Which equals 480 per sprint attack, and lets not forget, calling two werewolves that copy your stats that are conjurable… What now my friend? Feeling like werewolves suck now? Seeing as werewolves almost get the max armor rating (Cap is 567 For actual damage resistance)

  • haha same here bro, I beat GTA vice city, san andreas (thats my shit! i memorized that map lol) and GTA IV then used the codes to make a giant mess lol Same with skyrim, I made sure I beat the storyline and had my fun, when I started getting a bit bored I used the console commands and now im sooo happy XD I might do some mods soon, I’m just scared it’ll fuck up my game

  • The perk trees for vampires and werewolves are not related to your level. Instead, they are related to how many people you feed on. Also, Microsoft has exclusivity for Dawnguard for the first 30 days, so PS3 users have to wait a bit for the release. Also, the release date for PS3 and PC has yet to be announced. Did that answer your questions?

  • oh iv some how turned into a vampire even though i wanted to do the other quest line and ideas/tips on how to turn my self back would be much appreciated and would earn a subscriber 🙂 a bit more info is that i think i contracted it by being bitten in a fight with a vampire again any info will help alot

  • join the dawnguard and STAY WITH THE DAWNGUARD. No matter what do not accept vampirism from harkon. with the dawnguard you get better equips, better characters to help you out, better spells, and once you meet the main villain’s daughter serana, she can give you vampire lord form. so join and stay with the dawnguard!

  • I love Werewolf and Vamp Lord, but can anyone answer me this question? In vamp lord form, my health gets a 300 pt bonus instead of the 50 pt bonus. any answers as to why? its funny, its not that im complaining, i like having 791 hp, in human form i have 391 hp. It just mathematically does not make sense. What is even stranger is i notice that the bonus is normally only 50 pts higher, until i come in contact with enemies, then my hp jumps up 300 pts higher than it should be. anyone else have this

  • Right please someone try and answer me without spoikers:( I want to become a vampire lord however I’m not sure if my assasin khajit char who never uses magicka will work with it. I am asking if using magicka is needed when being a vampire lord cause my khajit does not use magicka but my dark elf does, I just want to know which char to become one on thanks.

  • if u have enchanted apparel on when u use vamp lord form do u keep the enhancements or do u forfit them when u enter that form….lets say i have a ring that gives me 300 magika…do i lose that when i transform or what?….and do i have to use only the spells that the vampire lord has or can i use my own and the vampire lord stuff

  • If you go to Dragon Bridge, be sure that IF you have sold vegetables to Azzada Lylvieve, KILL HIM. Even if the Dragonborn gets busted, Azzada should still die, because apparently he’s a bad guy, as a courier should come and give you a note from a guy in Markarth that wants to thank you for killing Azzada. First ever time I did so by accident, I was TICKED OFF, until the courier came. As soon as I realized the GOOD thing that happened, I’ve been known to – nowadays – kill Azzada every single time I go into Dragon Bridge (During different playthroughs of course).

  • Recently did the vampire quest line for the first time. Boy howdy, it was kinda depressing. The dawn guard as a faction almost completely ceased to have any influence on the story. You never saw Isran again, even as adversary (who could have made a perfect villain with his uncompromising approaches). There was just less going on.

  • Restoration was very underwhelming as a school of magic before dawngaurd, Dawngaurd took the restoration class and turned it from a cleric to paladin. Dawngaurd also did alot of great things for melee and ranged builds that are locked behind the dawngaurd route. Honestly I never saw a benefit for a non-vampire to go down the vampire route. I mean I would argue the Dawngaurd route has the best story and characters where even Isran who you see as someone who solely hates vampires undergo development to tolerate the existence of Serana. It’s a really cool line where you help the dawngaurd grow, you help them destroy the vampire lord Harkin and restore a bit of hope to skyrim. I honestly argue Israns war against vampires saved skyrim more than the Civil War. It’s a side story but to me it always felt a bit more important than the main questline.

  • Harkon: Does absolutely nothing for millenia, gets substituted by the newbie of the clan, does not find the scroll neither the bow Chad Isran: Recruits a demigod but keeps his position as leader, has armored monkes, his guild has the coolest armor in the entire fckin game, and ends with a Vampire ally, bow and scroll. Differences my guys

  • one small issue: first vampire quest: go to a drug den, get high, get free telekinesis, get bloodstone chalice first dawnguard quest: go to the fucking reach and some bear cave, retrieve two people, then gain access to 9 consecutive fetch quests across the province involving clearing entire dwarven dungeons top to bottom before you can have permission to BUY or CRAFT the enhanced dwarven crossbow and exploding bolts.

  • All this vampire junk reminded me of that “family” cult from fallout 3 that thinks they are vampires, I went there and did the quest to get Ian back and I was thinking “I’m gunna have to murder all these crazies aren’t I” and I’m talking to them and doing the speech checks and the whole time I’m ready for a total bloodbath and I have grenades equipped and everything but somehow I managed to get Ian to go home without murdering people, and I got the vampires to protect the nearby town in exchange for blood bags Kinda disappointed that I did so well and didn’t get to slaughter them all, their leader had a really nice sword… but he did give me the blueprint for it after the quest

  • vampire lord: Levite walk and levitate on water has telekinesis that grabs people and animals (Darth Vader reference) summon gargoyles (two with the appropriate amulet) it becomes intangible by transforming into mist and unlike Ethereal Form you can activate it while falling fast and active healing factor while you are versatile transformation with which you can go from metamorphosis to human form and vice versa whenever you want and without waiting 5 minutes or a day has a whirlwind of bats around it that causes it to absorb the energy of opponents (and also the bats can be combined with the spells mantle of flame, frost, lightning and swirling) dawnguard: heal yourself and lose all the cool skills otherwise we won’t go on with the missions and we won’t take you with us.

  • Harkon:”Give me the bow, mortal.” Me:”Ok.” Harkon:”Haha, finally after all this time, I have Auriel’s bow. Now, perish.” Me:”No, You.”(Smacks Harkon with a Dawnguard Rune Axe(Legendary) with such a high body count that it would make James A. Jeneisse reject it) Harkon:”Agh,… Serana, your own father?”(Disintegrates) Serana:”What the (bleep) just happened?!”

  • Badass Swords, Brigandines against useless little leather uniforms, a semi Great Helm, crossbows, badass spells, a more badass and beautifull castle (Virgin Frigid Lil’ Island keep absolutely dilapildated vs Chad Preserved Fortress surrounded by gorgeous fauna and flora and a circle of mountains that protect it even more and make it even more beautiful) and the true desire to fight back against these parasitic and inhuman monsters who believe themselves superior despite being literal parasites who need to murder “inferiors” to substain themselves and only take and steal while providing nothing to the world . Fuck (Most) Vampire .

  • I’ve complete Dawnguard DLC on Dawnguard’s side, main line, additional quests, craft upgraded dwemer crossbow, buy light armor pack and, found two faction axes, enchant and upgrades all of’em. Dual one-handed wields axes and max archery. Heavy Dawnguard’s helmet optionally. And holy sh*t, I feel myself like Geralt from Rivia.

  • i love the Dawnguard cuz they see a werewolf devoring a entire town and its A-OKEY but they see a vampire drinking Elk blood and then Isran take the moth priest to reast the Elder scroll but actually, i join dawnguard cuz i hate vampires and i love being a crazylupo. i actually wished for Dawnguard to have some Werewolfs, tbh, like, those who can control it, not a savage werewolf.

  • I literally tried vampire side just to see what the other side was like. This is my 10-20th play through. I hate the vampires, you get stronger through not drinking blood, but if you dont drink blood you become blood starved and then get attacked on sight. Dont even get me started on the sunlight weakness

  • Heh. Even when I’m roleplaying as an evil dragonborn, I still join Dawnguard. Because for F’s sake, being a vampire offers very little for the Dragonborn’s growth. He doesn’t learn new spells under the vampires, and who even wants to transform into a rabid bat man under the sun? No way anyone can enjoy that kind of playthrough.

  • I love how I took one look at Harkon on my first playthrough, went “I stumbled in your daughters prison and got her out in like 20 minutes, you guys are just cannibals that hate sunlight.” And I buddied up with the dawnguard because they’re kinda cool, Killed Harkon because he didn’t like the sun(We need it kinda).

  • Clan Volkihar: “The only reason we do not tear you apart where you stand is because you returned our Lord’s daughter to us. You may join our ranks, but you must surrender your mortality and become blood of our blood, and you must forsake and betray your former allies and slaughter them wherever you find them. Otherwise, you must begone from here, and never return under pain of death.” Dawnguard: “Some she-vampire knocked on our front door. No, we didn’t kill it on sight. It says it wants to see you. No, you don’t have to kill it either. Let’s hear what it has to say. Tell you what, why don’t you bring it inside, let it get comfy, and we’ll just trust it to wander our headquarters. What’s that? It’s the spawn of the most powerful and dangerous vampire in all of Skyrim? And its blood is extremely powerful and rare and our enemy’s evil plan cannot succeed without it? Damn. If only there were something we vampire-slayers could do to this vampire to prevent that from ever happening. Maybe if we send you out with it without any backup and it doesn’t use it’s mind-controlling seduction power on you, the pair of you can figure something out. Good luck!”

  • Lord Harkon: haha look at me with my chicken wings I will now combine this magic bow with my daughter’s blood to dim the sun and rule the world. proceeds to get destroyed by his daughter and a guy wielding that same bow Rada al-Saran, who dueled a Yokudan war diety to a draw, can manifest his spirit into a sword made of blood, created an army of vampires and werewolves, nearly destroyed Markarth to free his brethren from Coldharbour, and has actual wings in his Vampire Lord form: Pathetic

  • My current character of the Palladin of Justice, wears Dwarven Armor uses Upgraded Dawnbreaker with sundamage mod, uses Spellbreaker as shield and will use Auriel’s Bow. His steed is the dwarven Horse. With all this Golden Shiny appearance he is ready to cleanse everything with the Purifying light. Praise the Sun 🌞

  • Clan Volkihar: Positives: A death hound follower which isn’t even cute. Negatives: Becoming a vampire makes you allergic to 12 hours of the day and forces you to get aids to survive and the ability to turn into a third rate vampire with a fourth rate perk tree. Dawnguard: Positives: Drippy crusader armor paired with glowing war hammers, axes, and a whole host of undead slaying spells, a crossbow that shoots explosive ammunition, armored trolls, *cute huskies*. Negatives: Hearing the whining of vampire incells as they defend their wrong opinion.

  • I side with the vampires on most my playthroughs (and the stormcloaks in the civil war quest), but you gotta admit that dwarven crossbow is sick, along with armoured trolls and huskies Enchanted steel crossbow with dwarven bolts tends to serve my needs well enough though I need to get something i can play skyrim on again. Its a great game.

  • Me, a Skooma addled hermit (Swears up and down I’m actually a wizard who got his bachelor’s in alchemy, really just a drug addict who likes casting candlelight over and over in the corner), noticing the smaller nuances of Restoration perks and Necromage, deciding to become a vampire lord on top of being a restoration God

  • Dawnguard don’t have any “vampire killer 3000” devices, they don’t have stakes and garlic like other media which makes dealing with vampires trivieal. They are just incredibly talented people, who have managed to adapt their skills and interests to be useful in battle, and choose to battle vampires because the danger they pose to others. That’s what I like about them.

  • Dawnguard: -Shows up -Realizes that the Dragonborn is a simp -Quickly forms a strong force of armored triclop apes and crossbow wielding soldiers -Mops the floor of the enemies by assaulting the castle -Let’s the Dragonborn finish the job to atone for his simpathy for Vampires that will never bang him.

  • I ended up becoming a werewolf when I first saw HaRkOn change because he challeneged me to a dual and I had to show him that I was superior. Then the courier came in with something he was supposed to deliver to me, my eyes only. But before he could say that’s it, got to go, a werebear came in and then the fight really started because he had a mudcrab who stole my sweetroll follow him in when the door was still open. Maiq also ended up standing there too, more lies he’ll spout now I am certain.
