Blue, the official mascot of the Indianapolis Colts, is an anthropomorphic blue horse who wears a white Colts jersey with a horseshoe on the front. Introduced on September 17, 2006, in the Colts’ first home regular season, Blue has been a community ambassador and one of the most recognizable characters in the NFL. He has won three Mascot of the Year awards since his introduction in 2006. Trey Mock, the man behind the mane, has been perfecting his art as the character since his days at the Colts.
Blue’s name comes from his blue coat and white mane. He is a father of two, trying to make a big difference in the Hoosier State. Trey Mock first caught the mascot fever and has a bandana around his head, a sweatband for what he’s about to endure. Most guests don’t know that they are Blue, but they surge past him, seeking the mascot. They walk past Blue as he hides in plain sight.
Blue and the Broncos’ mascot, Miles, are portrayed as having similar experiences. Trey Mock not only plays Blue but also conceived and brought him to life. From the sketch he drew, to the suit he sewed, to the personality he put in, Blue is a beloved figure in the Indianapolis Colts community.
Blue’s Instagram account has over 446K followers and over 1017 posts, making him a favorite among fans.
