Hermione Granger, a character in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, was initially reluctant to take Divination due to her skepticism and distaste for Professor Trelawney’s teaching style. She believed that divination was not exact and “woolly”, and she developed a disdain for the subject as it could not be mastered.
Hermione’s dislike for Divination stemmed from its vague symbols and the fact that it contradicted her values of logic and skill. She was affronted when Professor Trelawney proclaimed that books could only take her so far in this field, which went against Hermione’s methods. Hermione’s dislike of Divination is a testament to the fact that a person can still be intelligent without being good at every class.
In her fourth year, Hermione became annoyed with Lavender for doubting Harry’s account of Voldemort’s return after the Triwizard Tournament. This incident highlights the importance of understanding one’s own abilities and not relying solely on external factors to make decisions.
In conclusion, Hermione Granger’s dislike for Divination is rooted in her belief that it is not an exact science and that it cannot be mastered. Hermione’s experience with the subject and her desire to focus on other subjects, such as Magical Creatures, serves as a reminder that one can still be intelligent without being good at every class.
📹 Why Hermione HATED Divination so Much – Harry Potter Explained
Hey guys, Welcome to another installment of Harry Potter Theory. In this video, we’re going to be discussing Hermione Granger, …
Why did Hermione storm out of Divination?
Sybill Trelawney, a renowned teacher of Divination, began teaching in 1979 and continued until 1998. Her beginner’s class heavily relied on scrying, but her teaching style did not resonate with most students. Only Lavender Brown and Parvati Patil seemed to enjoy the subject, while others fell asleep or considered the class a joke. Hermione Granger quit the class due to Trelawney’s stifling classroom and her belief in her predictions being inaccurate.
Despite her relatively safe lessons, Trelawney was known for predicting the death of a student each year, which never came true. Her ineffective teaching methods led to negative evaluations from the Hogwarts High Inquisitor, and she was eventually dismissed for inadequate performance. She was reinstated at the end of the year.
Who was good at Divination in Harry Potter?
Seers, born with a natural gift for prophecy, were wizards and wizards who could predict the future using their Inner Eye. Professor Sybill Trelawney, a Seer, was known for her fraudulent predictions and predicting student deaths. However, she had an impressively accurate track record, possibly due to her Inner Eye working without her realizing it. Professor Trelawney claimed that the Inner Eye does not see upon command and skips three generations in families. Divination, an important yet often misunderstood branch of magic, was a rare and unique individual, often misread or feared. True Seers were rare and often misunderstood.
Why was Hermione so rude to Trelawney?
The author posits that the animosity toward Divination originated subsequent to Trelawney’s discovery of the Grim and her prognostication of Harry’s demise. This suggests that the response was primarily an emotional reaction to the perceived supernatural danger.
What was Hermione’s worst fear?
Hermione, a witch, was deeply afraid of academic failure and expulsion, which she considered worse than death. However, she had a strong heart and was concerned about the suffering of everyone, including her house-elves and her closest friends. Hermione was particularly worried about Buckbeak’s fate after Draco Malfoy threw a fuss over his bite from a hippogriff. Hermione also worried about the bleak future of the house-elves, particularly Winky, who was released by Barty Crouch Sr. Her fear stemmed from her inability to intervene due to the lack of legal protection.
Why does Hermione dislike Divination?
Sybill Trelawney began teaching Divination in 1979 and continued until 1998. Her beginner’s class heavily relied on scrying, but her teaching style did not go well with most students. Only Lavender Brown and Parvati Patil seemed to take to the subject, while others fell asleep or considered the class a joke. Hermione Granger quit the class due to Trelawney’s claims of not having the Inner Eye and believing her predictions were inaccurate.
Professor Trelawney was renowned for predicting the death of a student each year, but these prophecies never came true. Lavender Brown found out her pet rabbit Binky died on the predetermined date, Neville Longbottom would break a cup, and Voldemort’s servant would return to him the same day. Her ineffective teaching methods made her a primary target for Hogwarts High Inquisitor Dolores Umbridge’s negative evaluations, and she was eventually dismissed for inadequate performance. She was reinstated at the end of the year.
How was Bellatrix torturing Hermione?
In the film Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1, Bellatrix carves the word “Mudblood” into Hermione’s arm, resembling the arm number tattoos on Jews in concentration camps during the Holocaust. This is due to J. K. Rowling using Nazi Germany as an influence to the series.
In the novel, Peter Pettigrew was killed by his own silver hand when attempting to strangle Harry Potter, while in the film, he is stunned from behind by Dobby, who also takes his wand and gives it to Ron. It can be assumed that he was killed off-screen or that instead of being stunned by Dobby, he was killed by him.
Harry takes Malfoy’s, Bellatrix’s, and Wormtail’s wands from Malfoy, using them to stun Lucius Malfoy instead of Fenrir Greyback, who along with Scabior has been sent away from the manor by Bellatrix. Lucius is stunned twice in the same scene. Dean Thomas is notably absent in the film, as he was mentioned to be traveling with Griphook on radio, so it is presumed that he escaped the Snatchers, unlike Griphook.
In the film, Greyback gets defeated by surprise by Bellatrix instead of Greyback begging for mercy. He also only gets beat by Harry when he uses 3 wands casting Stupefy and takes him down in the book. In the Nintendo DS version of the Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 video game, the skirmish at Malfoy Manor starts, rather than the planning for and execution of the break-in of Gringotts Wizarding Bank as in the film and other versions of the video game.
The original script of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 began with this skirmish.
Did McGonagall hate Trelawney?
Trelawney, a half-breed centaur, was dismissed by Umbridge, who was furious about her situation. Dumbledore, the High Inquisitor, defended Trelawney from being banished from Hogwarts, as she had the authority to terminate her employment. McGonagall comforted her and helped Filius Flitwick and Pomona Sprout return her to her tower. Trelawney was replaced by the centaur Firenze, appointed by Dumbledore, who was a “half-breed” and appointed without consulting her.
Firenze taught in Classroom 11 instead of the North Tower, where Trelawney remained. After Umbridge’s suspension, Trelawney was reinstated to her teaching position, but she had to share classes with Professor Firenze, which she was not pleased with. This situation highlights the tension between Trelawney and her former employer, Umbridge, and the consequences of her actions.
What is Ron’s worst fear?
In the second book of the Harry Potter series, The Chamber of Secrets, the audience learns that Ron is extremely afraid of spiders. He becomes scared of them, shaking and screaming at high pitches, and struggles to form words. His physical symptoms include big eyes, difficulty breathing, and white faces. Ron’s anxiety is so high that he thinks the end of the world is happening and he must escape.
Ron is diagnosed with Arachnophobia, which falls under the DSM-IV five general types of specific phobias in the animal type category. Exposure to the phobic stimulus usually provokes an immediate anxiety response, which may take the form of a situationally bound or situationally predisposed panic attack. Children can show affects and characteristics when it comes to specific phobias, such as crying, throwing tantrums, experiencing freezing, or clinging to their parent.
Ron’s anxiety level rises, as evidenced by his voice changing, sweating profusely, and shaking. He does everything he can to avoid the situation.
What is Hermione’s least favorite subject?
The author articulates a predilection for a more tangible and rational methodology in the examination of subjects such as divination, espousing a preference for a more concrete approach, such as that of arithmancy. The author lists their preferred and least preferred instructors, including Professor Vector, McGonagall, Lupin, and Hagrid, and Professor Umbridge, whom they find unappealing.
What is Hermione’s favorite magical subject?
Hermione Granger enjoyed arithmancy at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, where it was an elective subject offered from the third year onwards. Despite the challenging homework, one of her roommates found it difficult and preferred Care of Magical Creatures. Arithmancy was taught by Professor Septima Vector in Classroom 7A on the seventh floor of Hogwarts Castle during the 1990s. The study of arithmancy involves predicting the future using numbers and incorporating a bit of numerology.
Why didn t Hermione like Trelawney?
Hermione Granger has a fixed mindset, which she has developed by giving up on things she doesn’t believe she is naturally good at. She quit Divination, believing Professor Trelawney was a fraud and the subject was useless. Hermione also gave up on Quidditch, only getting on a broom a handful of times after one lesson. This approach is flawed as it is impossible to be good at everything the first time.
To achieve success in any area, one needs to develop a growth mindset, which believes that intelligence, essay writing, exam performance, maths, and Quidditch are changeable and can be improved with effort, smart strategies, self-belief, and supportive allies.
The flaw in the narrative is that Hermione only had one Quidditch lesson in first year, and she couldn’t learn it out of a book. To achieve success in any area, one needs to develop a growth mindset, which believes that intelligence, essay writing, exam performance, maths, and Quidditch are all changeable and can be improved with effort, smart strategies, self-belief, and supportive allies.
📹 Why I HATE Hermione Granger
The harry potter series (the original 7 books & movies) is one of my all time favorite fictional world. there’s a lot i love about it – the …
for me, the reason she annoys me is not even her character – if she started out bossy and cruel (which, let’s be honest, she is – rita skeeter and mariette edgecombe should not have been treated that way (especially the latter! she just trusted her mom!)) but then developed into a better person throughout the books, i would have less of a problem with her. the reason she annoys me is the way she’s written – i have nothing against wise, arrogant characters, i believe that they can be written really well, but she’s presented as doing everything right ALL. THE. TIME. literally, ATTACKING ron because she’s jealous that he has a girlfriend after never hinting that she likes him? oH, ShE’s JuSt A TeEnAgE gIrL! iT wAs RoN’S fAulT aNyWAy. scarring another person for life? bUt mArIeTta BetrAyed HarrY! erasing another person’s memory? bUt It’S nEcEsSarY, And She’S sAd AboUt It! she’s always used as a plot convenience to tell harry and ron what to do, even though harry is established as the quick-witted and ron as the strategist. she is never called out and basically becomes a mary sue, despite being annoying, bossy, cruel and close-minded, and as you said, weepy. also, as a ravenclaw, it just annoys me that she is called the brightest of her age and isn’t even in ravenclaw. it’s just an insult to the house.
One thing that annoys me is when during 4th year when Ron gives her a hard time for dating Krum, she tells him to pluck up the courage to ask her out before someone else does, during sixth year she assaults Ron with birds created with magic because he’s with lavender brown. Maybe she should’ve practiced what she preached. And this shows Ron being more mature in his 4th year essentially 14 years of age then Hermione in her 6th year essentially 16 years of age cause Ron used words Hermione used violence.
The thing that spoils her for me is that she is not called out for her flaws… Especially compared to ron and harry, ron is criticized for everything and the whole world runs bite Harry’s back even when he didn’t do anything wrong but Hermione is never called out for her actions and she is painted as a victim
I 100% agree. She’s so annoying and extremely rude! I honestly think draco malfoy is less arrogant than her. She acts as if she’s “superior” (which is so stupid for a ‘smart’ one) around others, and embarrasses Luna. I hate her the most, like I don’t know why an insufferable know-it-all has to be one of the main characters. She tries to show off her so called “intelligence”. Like seriously, who cares Hermione? Ron’s right, she DOES need to sort out her priorities. (He said that in the first movie) btw this is just my opinion
5:09 There’s also the sick thing she says in Deathly Hallows. “I said all along that wizards would pay for what they do to house elves. Well Voldemort did and so did Sirius.” She was basically implying that Sirius mistreating Kreacher somehow meant he deserved to get killed by Bellatrix when he didn’t.
2:20 She also can’t handle anyone doing better than her in a class. She HAS to be the best or else she’ll sulk. As pointless a subject as Divination was Ron had a point when he said “You just don’t like being rubbish at something for a change.” And she didn’t care that Harry was cheating using Snape’s Half Blood Prince Potions book. Just that he was doing better than her.
I thing I hated about the movies is that Harry and hermione had a much better friendship then Harry and Ron, to the point where people were shipping Harry x hermione less then hermione x Ron. It’s so annoying, if you read the books you know how special Ron’s friendship is to Harry. They just throw all of their good moments away and give it to Harry and hermione instead. It’s so annoying, they make ron look like a jerk. Like why is movie ron even friends with Harry in the first place?? I wonder that sometimes because they barley have good moments together in the movies, it’s always with hermione. I remember in the goblet of fire when ron was angry at Harry because he thought he lied to him about not putting his name in the goblet of fire, Harry admits that even though hermione is a good friend, ron is still his best friend and he wishes they were friends again. Like they didn’t show this in the movies at all.
Also I dont think I answered that last time, but Snape. He was perfectly fine with someone dying, until he found out it was Lily, and he hated Harry because “oh woah is me, you look like your father who bullied me”. Even worse is that he never cared for Harry. He only protected him, because Dumbledore told him to, and because he is Lily’s son.
At long last! Someone who doesn’t worship the Perfect Goddess Queen that is Hermione Granger! I feel validated, for sure! There are several things wrong with the Harry Potter series but Hermione is one of the most glaring issues. The fact that she is the self insert of JK Rowling should tell you enough but here are a few points just for the record:- – Hermione is a muggleborn and sort of represents that minority group in the story. She is made out to be this girl who is constantly facing discrimination but is strong and it never affects her in anyway. Nevermind that that is not a realistic portrayal of someone who is marginalized. Never mind that being muggleborn doesn’t take any opportunities away from her, doesn’t affect her education or the way anyone treats her save a handful of assholes. Nevermind that she is a white, upper middle class girl who comes from a loving family. I’m not trying to take away from the struggles muggleborns face but amongst that Minority group, Hermione is far from the most oppressed person there. And don’t get me started on her take on the house elves, or her double standards when it comes to the rights of other magical beings (I could rant about the series whole take on discrimination, but I digress.) – Hermione, being our main female character is made out ( Along with Ginny) by JK Rowling to represent the girl you want to be (or should be) And this not only affects the way these two are written, but also the way the other female characters are potrayed.
She is so annoying the entire saga! but I hated her the most in the third book, specially when she warns Harry that she’ll tell Mcgonagall about the marauders map. 😡 ” Harry, if you go to Hogsmeade again… I’ll tell Professor McGonagall about that map. threatened Hermione. ” And I hate she had ALL Ron lines in the movies …. so yes i dislike her both in books and movies. I’m a bit late to the party ( this article is 3 years old ) but I want to say this THANK YOU ! and thanks again for talking about this, she is such a nightmare ! 🙄
People don’t like Hermione, they find Emma Watson attractive… If she looked just like in the book nobody would like her. Hermione is not smart. She reads books. She has 0 practical intelligence, she doesn’t know something unless she read it somewhere before. And that “holier-than-thou” attitude of her with everything she can’t understand (which is almost everything). She is even mad at every boy for finding Fleur Delacour attractive (I love when I hear that she is not vain when she ask Pomfrey to perform literal esthetic surgery on her). Such an insufferable character… Can we also mention that she is extremely physically violent with Ron to the point of injuring him just because she couldn’t take a “no” for an answer ?
Hermione absolutely annoyed me while reading Order of the Phoenix, especially when she wouldn’t stop bothering Harry about breaking into Umbridges office and being an ass to Luna all because her dad owns the Quibbler. The whole SPEW thing was annoying, since the elf’s were okay with being servants at Hogwarts and her trying to trick them into freeing themselves with the hats (which her idea made no sense since only Dumbledore could’ve freed them bc he’s technically their master). All she did in that book was cry, whine, and be rude I don’t really hate Hermione tho, OotP and PoA are the only times I’ve found her insufferable (a bit in the first book too ngl), other than all that she’s okay
In the books I didn’t like her. I definitely saw myself in her character, like rather reading to people and not having many friends, but I disliked her. My favorite parts that included her was whenever she had moments with Ron. I like romance in stuff, and I liked their romance. I didn’t like how bossy and insufferable (also mad it makes me agree with Snape) she was. Her obsession with the house elves being “free” when they made it clear they enjoyed it annoyed me too. And when she went behind Harrys back about the Firebolt and was surprised that they were mad. And when she refused to apologize to Ron when “Scabbers” went missing because it was clear that the most obvious culprit was Crookshanks. But I can handle book Hermione because she meshes well with Ron. They work well together. I can’t handle movie Hermione. She’s the reason I can’t get through the movie series. I just hate her so much, it’s beyond insufferable. Ron was my favorite of the trio, and seeing all of my favorite moments of him given to (mainly) Hermione just upset me.
Hermione is kind of a bully perhaps not intentionally but if you know what you’re looking for you can see it. When someone she sees as “less intelligent” as her outsmarts her she acts like someone kicked her cat. She used her intellect to intimidate others when they don’t agree with her. Not to mention when someone suggest something other than what she knows from a book she dismisses it a face value, without a second thought. She is a know-it-all Snape was right about that and can be incredibly annoying with her know-it-all attitude but, she is still a useful character. Overall she is a way too prideful character who is given to much credit and was to over estimated.
I know this is a bit late, but I’ve been rereading the books and I’ve really started to hate Hermione. I used to be okay with her character, but it’s a bit astonishing how mean her character actually is. I don’t think I need to repeat what everyone else had said about Hermione’s arrogance but she is never punished directly. Tell me why a 13 year old who learned magic existed probably no more than 3 years ago, is insulting a professor and an entire branch of magic just because she thinks it’s unreliable. I don’t know why this was brushed off but the way Hermione treated Professor Trelawney in the Prisoner of Azkaban always made me really mad. No points were docked, no detention, nothing, and she just got to leave the class with no reprocussions for insulting a professor who had been teaching that course for (correct me if I’m wrong) LONGER THAN HERMIONE HAD BEEN ALIVE. Reading these books as a young adult rather than a middle schooler really made it clear how poorly written her character was. I always felt like Hermione was written as the sort of “god character”, smart amazing at everything, everyone loves her, but then JK Rowling realized that this sort of character would get hated on because its unrealstic so she tried to make her more relatable by making her literally the most insufferable character by making her bossy, annoying, rude, manipulative and a bit violent. No one is going to fucking convince me that it was okay for Hermione to used oppugno on Ron not to mention she punches Draco.
The thing I honestly hate the most about Hermione is how J.K Rowling never let her grow up while J.K Rowling put Ron through quite a growth spurt with Hermione just showing her flaws and quickly hiding them under a rug… or maybe Hermione is J.K Rowling’s idea of a perfect girl? However I’m not sure if you mean Hermione could have chosen better or Ron could have chosen better.
i’m, honestly, so glad to find this article! I thought I was the only one, lol. in the movies she’s fine (also because of how the directors gave her a lot of Ron’s lines), but right now I’m rereading the HP series for the first time as an adult, and OH MY GOD she annoys the crap out of me. I agree with everything you’re saying in the article. I don’t understand how anyone (fictional or not) could stand her for that long. I think Harry and Ron deserved so much better (my personal choice as a third friend would be Luna). like, even Umbridge is not that annoying, because she doesn’t appear that much and I also don’t expect good things from her anyway. but Hermione is CONSTANTLY there. so that’s that. also, I love Sirius, too, and he deserved a long and happy life.he’s got certain flaws (like he’s quite irresponsible and touchy),but he was a good man (pause to cry). another character that I find annoying is James Potter (say what you want, but people don’t change just like that, and Harry should strive to be more like his mother than his father). (actually, I think Harry is a lot more like Lily than James by the end of it).
She also insults and complains about Quidditch, mainly in the later books. If your friends like a sport, and you don’t like it, don’t demean the game in front of them or talk bad about it like it the reason there’s a rivalry between the houses (fifth book ch. 26 for one example) the houses existing at all (especially slytherin) are why there’s rivalry, the house cup for points at end of year. There’s friendly rivalry after all
I think hermione is a well-rounded character. she has her own strengths and weaknesses and she’s an essential member of the golden trio. HOWEVER, i hate it so much when people literally worship her and act like she’s this perfect human who can do nothing wrong. because whether you like her or not, you can’t deny she’s very tone deaf and annoying at times. she has poor social skills in many situations which is in fact, a FLAW. being bossy is not the same as having good leadership skills. good leaders aren’t downright rude and degrading to people who did nothing to you except disagree. an example of this is when she hated on luna just because she had different/unconventional beliefs. this type of crap is NOT empowering, it’s mean. the only crap i cant stand is the people who only watched the movies where they portray hermione as this perfect flawless goddess who can do no wrong and ron as this lazy oaf who only eats and provides comedic relief—like noooo but anyway, no matter how many times she irritated me, she’s a great character overall. regardless of how annoying she is, she is still indisputably inspirational in many ways. but i wish people would stop acting like she’s better than everyone else because she’s really not. she’s human. everyone makes mistakes, Hermione Granger is no exception.
And with the Half Blood Prince, she never admitted that Ron and Harry were in fact, right, it was a guy! I feel like she also never owns her wrong and doesn’t have any actual character development. I seriously have NO idea how people like her as a character, but i think the fact that so many people like her and defend her because she’s a female lead, it makes it hard to openly criticize her. And the people who want to claim her as a feminist but yet she’s rude to luna and judges Fleur with Ginny? (Not a fan of ginny, either. Love Fleur tho)
I agree with you completely. Fanon put her on a huge pedestal and it’s annoying. Gosh I hated her for not liking Harry getting good grades in potions, yes he was cheating, which isn’t right, but she only dislikes him here because he gets better grades than her. Furthermore your plushies are adorable, especially Eeyore 😍 (You’ve got great skin, I am a little bit jealous and you have a nice voice. Cool hat)
I do not like Sirius Black. I think he’s irresponsible, especially in his failure – and Snape’s – to make up after their enmity at school. I blame Sirius for egging on James Potter, Remus for being a coward, & James Potter for being a total scumbag, the Draco Malfoy of Gryffindor. The Marauders are a nasty bunch; no wonder Peter Pettigrew turned out so badly, with “friends” like that. James and Sirius began the feud with Snape, so ISTM that Snape is the aggrieved party; so Sirius is more to blame for the Sirius-Snape feud than Snape. Sirius strikes me as immature, as though he has never grown up – the 12 years in Azkaban probably have something to do with it.
As much as I adored Hermoine in the book, I have to agree that sometimes she does get on my nerves. Also, I want to know what you think about Harry Potter himself? While I do feel bad for him for the shit he went through, he honestly has to be one of the most annoying novel protagonist I have read and out of all the other characters in the books, he was the least interesting…
I don’t want to offend u guys or anything, but if she’s doing something to upset Ron or Harry, she’s probably just trying to protect them. Even with scabbers, can she control what crookshanks wants to and doesn’t want to eat??? Also, if it wasn’t for her in chamber of secrets, Harry and Ron wouldn’t of known abt basilisks, and would prbly die. And in prisoner of askaban, if hermione hadnt used her time turner, sirus would’ve lost his soul to dementors. And abt the S. P. E. W thingy, this just shows that she cares abt others. Edit: I am not saying u shouldn’t hate her, I’m just sharing my opinion, exactly like all of u are doing.
Hermione isn’t my most hated character, but I do strongly dislike her and she’s probably one of my least favorite protagonists, especially after seeing how most of the fandom treats her in comparison to Harry and especially Ron. I do agree with a lot of what you said in the article, but I will say I actually do prefer book Hermione because at least she’s a more realistic and flawed character. I really resent movie Hermione. Movie Hermione comes across as a bit of a Mary-Sue and anytime I see her stealing dialogue from other characters I want to throw something at the screen, but that’s just me.
Omg you are like the only person I heard who didn’t like her. I cant stand her either!!!! I have just reread the series and her constant need to be right is so aggravating… And the fact that her best friend who had doubts about Snape (which clears up in the end wven though he was right) Malfoy being a death eater and so many other things… like this is her bestfriend and any opinion that was not hers she shot down and her need to say she was right like with the half blood prince after Dumbledore died she goes and tells Harry I told you so like come on really do you constantly crave being right that you have to prove it at a time like that like Harry was right about Draco and Snape did you hear him say I told you so …. and her constant nagging about everything truly made me hate her… I love her in the movies because she only nagged them some times however in the books it was about everything and it was all the time .. Glad I am not the only one who views her as an insufferable know it all (well besides snape)
Actually I don’t really understand why do people treat her like a genius! I mean yes she is smart but not that much! She is literally like the best student in the class who can be found in EVERY SINGLE CLASS AND THAT’S NORMAL, NOT ANYTHING SPECIA! She’s just the best student! she’s not an inventor or a scientist or something.
She’s not a character in The movies that’s why she’s not annoying and her annoying aspects are actually what make her a good character in my opinion I do agree with you she’s annoying as fuck but also very entertaining in her intelligence which lacks Street smarts which is fucking brilliant in my mind because Ron has that street smarts but he doesn’t give a fuck about intellectual knowledge so I balance each other out but the movie is just a machine for exposition and Ron is just a gag character
I agree with thia article so much. I honestly thought I was the only one who dislike Hermione! Another character I dislike that most people don’t is Ginny. The only reason I dislike her is because of the reason people like her. Her personality is the oposite of mine and I don’t so very well with people with a fiesty personality. Once again I agree Sirius is one of my favorite Characters.( Also I think in the book she also HAD to say that she was right that Sirius sent Harry the broom.) 😂
I completely agree with you. If someone is going to ask me again why I hate Hermione Granger I’m just going to show them this article. I can’t stand her in every book but I mostly can’t stand her on the sixth book. I just can’t handle her stupid jealousy on Harry outperforming her in every Potions class because only she had the right to be the best in everything, and how she was super mad at Harry when she thought he put Felix Felicis on Ron’s pumpkin juice before the Quidditch match when she clearly Confunded Cormac McLaggen during the trial, and how she kept ranting about the Half-Blood Prince throughout the whole book that even Ginny told her to “give it a rest”. I also agree with Xenophilius Lovegood on the seventh book when he referred to her as “not unintelligent, but painfully limited. Narrow. Close-minded” (even Harry agreed). Also, Sirius Black is my absolute favourite character too and I can’t explain how much it infuriates me when Hermione mentioned him as ‘selfish’ on the fifth book. To conclude, she really is a nightmare.
She hurts and scars people. What she did to Merietta Edgecomb, Rita Scetter, and Ron in HBP. Uncalled off! Ron gets hate in GPF for how he acted toward Hermione, but Hermione did the EXACT same thing in HBP. Ron only avoided Hermione for a few days. Hermione avoided Ron for weeks. Plus, she threw birds at Ron, scarring him. That’s wrong. And yet, Ron still gets the hate. Ron deserves bettervin general. He’s my favorite character.
I don’t exactly hate her but she annoys me. At some point I stopped reading hp for a while because of her. She is always so “perfect” and “right” and the “victim”. I liked the movie her more mainly because I was like 7 and didn’t understand a lot but I have a feeling she’s worse in the movies. A reason why I dislike her is just because of how overrated she is.
Hate Hermione too…. I was actually looking for someone who hated Hermione too…. I was looking through fanfictions to get a decent Smart, Slytherin, Manipulative or competent or Independent Harry fanfics and most good summaries also included HP/HG or H/Hr…It was so annoying…. It felt like 3 quarters of Potterheads are Hermione fans🤢 and the rest are neutral …so I googled Hermione Haters and found your article… I was relieved to find someone saw it my way too😞
You know I agree with you. Hermione is annoying but how in the world is Hermione someones least favorite character when Umbridge exists . There are about countless people I hate more than Hermione including Draco, Umbridge, Rita, Snape etc. By the way Ron is a way better character than her . I mean I have seen lots of people saying that is better than Ron . Like how . It’s just unfair to Ron for him to be compared to her . It’s an insult to him . Hermione is like everyone’s favorite character. Hermione is nowhere to being my favorite. Hermione is the worst in the sixth book . I can talk about a hundred reasons why Hermione is the worst in the sixth book.
I personally don’t hate book-Hermione. I really love her and her annoying personality in the books as long as she’s not hurting someone else’s feelings. But, there are times where i just want to shut her mouth off. Like that moment in the sixth book, after Dumbledore’s death, when she told Harry that she was kinda right about Eileen Prince, even though she knew perfectly well that Harry is sad and miserable. Like, “Hermione, one of the most important people for him just died. He had just lost someone he care about. do you have to do it now?? We get it you’re right, you’re always right! Pick a better timing!” but, to be honest, despite her insensitiveness and annoying behaviors, i’ll take Book-Hermione over Movie-Hermione anytime. Movie-Hermione is just bland and plain frustrating. She annoys me to the level where i just want to stop the movie and watch something else.
I agree with you although I do love Hermione because she is my favorite characters I also have issue with her I love in the books but in the movies I hate how they make Hermione so perfect and the know it all and they took Ron’s famous lines and put it on Hermione I kinda wish they kept some of her flaws and not just that I also hated how the movies did Ginny wrong and also Harry and Ron wrong but I will always love Harry Potter
This is like the 3rd comment I’ve made, but I want to make this clear, I half disagree, half agree, with your opinion. I have Hermione as number 11 on my top 20 list. I switch her and Neville around (putting her at the no. 6 spot) if it wasn’t for people seeing Emma Watson instead of Hermione Granger.
I feel like you’re taking the fire bolt thing out of context. She DID talk to Harry about it. She voiced her concerns about it to him. Also, let’s look at it from the worst case scenario. Let’s say Black did curse the broom and send it to Harry. Out of “loyalty” to Harry she doesn’t do anything and then the first time he flys he gets killed. I’m so sorry but you’re wrong, going to an adult with her concerns was the absolute right thing to do. Should she have also told Harry that she went to an adult? Yes. But that doesn’t make what she did wrong. She acted in her friends best interest and it could have saved his life. That makes her an incredible friend. Another point is that Hermione wasn’t opposed to the house elf’s serving humans, just to the fact they were slaves with no basic rights. Dobby spoke of having to IRON HIS HANDS as punishment for things. Kreacher slammed his head into the ground non stop until Harry ordered him to stop for accidentally disobeying an order Harry gave. It doesn’t matter how much they liked serving, they still deserved to be treated better than dirt. THAT, more than anything, was what Hermione pushed for. She accepted the low wage and one day off a month that Dobby got from Dumbledore after Dobby explained that he had asked for it. I believe the house elf’s liked serving, but nobody likes being forced to grossly punish themselves and nobody likes the treatment they received. It’s also important to remember that just because something is the norm it doesn’t make it right- the house elfs mirror many problems in our own societies that we accept or choose to ignore.
Some people are just emotional haha! She did have a personal attachment to elfs from the 4th book but yeah it was a bit weird she tired to reach out to someone who hates people like her, way to try and be an X-Man Hermione! I did think she was manipulative towards Luna so I’ll give you that! I wouldn’t say she’s a bad friend, she has bad straits buuuuut Harry and Ron wouldn’t have even made it through book 1 without her guiding them!
I’m a Hermione fan. She is my fav character. Here is my opinion when you said that Hermione is a no it all, I feel that she is a character strong and amazing. She can be annoying because she is scared of being wrong. Hermione is not a bad friend she is the opposite. She is always putting her friends first before herself. Hermione is always looking out for her friends. Her being so smart made it so every time Harry was in trouble she saved his life. Not being rude but open your eyes. Hermione is powerful and strong opinionated but if you read the books carefully without her Harry would of probably died long ago. Not to hate but this is my opinion.
I agree she is kind of annoying and arrogant (in the books) but I think she attacked Ron becasue she was jealous! She felt the same that Ron felt in Goblet of fire and he treated hermione horrible! So i guess ron deserved that… And i really like the golden trio and i don’t want to spread any kind of hatred towards ron or hermione..
I also hate the fact that she doesn’t understand Harry that much (in my opinion!) Remember when Harry tells her and Ron that they have to save sirius in book 5? and she says to him that, he is trying to be hero, he definitely didn’t need to save fleur’s sister 1 year ago, but he did it because he need to save everyone. I KNOW SHE is RIGHT, but…. It wasn’t the perfect moment to say that.. at least think it from Harry’s point of view, He just saw his only family, his godfather Sirius beig tortured and he needs to save him and here she is telling him what he should or shouldn’t do 1 YEAR AGO!! And then Harry gets annoyed and they are fighting over it. You can say that here Hermione talks to him like this because Harry is being pathetic to her. BUT when Ginny and Luna arrived, Harry yells at Ginny to go away and says that This is not her business and she can’t help them. Then Ginny says, there is no need for him to being rude to her and she offers them to help but Harry refuses and Then Luna says, he is being rude. And when they need Ginny and Luna’s help. It is clearly said in the book that Ginny was struggling to understand what they were trying to do and what they were talking about. When they need her help, She immediately despise her struggle and Harry ‘s rudeness . Then says that, she will obviously help them. (And by that, I understood who was best for Harry) I don’t know why people insult Ginny so much, saying that she is a mean girl for calling fleur pleghm and for hexing a git called Zacarias Smith.
I personally love Hermione Tho she is kinda misunderstood If you remember in half-blood prince She was trying to help Harry but no one would listen Ginny told her to shut up or something like that Ron said that she was mad because harry is better than her Harry was annoyed or smth She was called a mudblood by Draco Ron was extremely rude to her sometimes Tortured by Bellatrix She had to modify her parent’s memories The lies that Rita idiot wrote and Mrs Weasely believed in them She was bullied too! And if you call her egoistic or whatever, remember humans have flaws too Even know-it-all’s do
she is my favourite character from whole series . she is intelligent and when ever she gets a chance to show her intelligence she never heads back because she wants to prove every one wrong she is arrogant and support S.P.E.W till end because she know all the elfs our brain washed and where as harry fire bolt for your kind information they all thought including harry that sirus black was a muderer thats and she guessed it right it was given by sirus black no offence but i think you are wrong( and i love sirus black too) if you have any powerful point let me know because all point were pointless this article was only made by you take out your frustration .
You think RON can do better?! That is the hottest take of this entire article. Talk about a whiny, insufferable, bad friend (looking at you, all of the Goblet of Fire and the first half of Deathly Hallows, just as the two most glaring and obvious examples). They both have bad qualities that they grow out of, and some that they don’t. But boy howdy thinking that Ron could do better than Hermione is absolutely wild
Here are the list of HP characters I HATE, don’t really hate but don’t like them either and LOVE (I’m so gonna get attacked for this) HATE list -Ron -Hermione -Ginny -Neville -Dumbledore -Lilly -James The just bad character list -Luna -Molly -Arthur The LOVE list -Draco -Snape -Tom Riddle -Barty Crouch Junior -Lucius -Cissy -Moony -Dogfather/dadfoot
