Why Shouldn’T A Christian Practice Astrology?

Astrology, a popular belief among Christians, is often seen as an attempt to find God’s divine will through means other than what God has appointed. However, the Bible and early Christians were vehemently opposed to astrology, attributing it to demonic origins. The Church Fathers imposed strong sanctions against astrology to protect their flocks, but many Christians are now opening up their minds to new possibilities. A recent study found that nearly 30% of Catholics believed in astrology, despite the Catechism of the Catholic Church stating that all forms of divination should be rejected, including those involving Satan or demons, conjuring up the dead, or falsely supposed to “unveil” the future.

As Christians, we should not engage with astrology, as it comes closer to divination than star patterns or charts. The Christian holy scriptures acknowledge the existence of astrologers, but God told his people not to engage in the practice. Consulting a horoscope is a violation of God’s means of communicating with His children. We strongly believe that astrology should be rejected by Christians, as no star patterns or charts can determine who we will become or what will happen in our life because God has already ordained it.

In Ephesians 2:10, God classified astrology as witchcraft, and Deuteronomy 18:10-14 states that belief in the Lord and in astrology are totally incompatible. The Bible usually refers to astrologers along with soothsayers, magicians, and fortune tellers. In today’s era of generalized Christianity, Christians should look to God instead of horoscopes for guidance.

What does the Bible say about astrology? Is it ok for Christians to read their horoscope? Does the Zodiac have any influence on …

Is astrology related to the Bible?

The Bible reveals that astrology is not a divine creation; rather, it is based on the creation story of Genesis chapter one, in which the sun, moon, and stars are classified as stars, providing light and time-telling, and nothing more.

What are the 7 planets in the Bible?

The Hebrew scriptures contain a recurring numerical theme, with the menorah’s seven lamps on four branches corresponding to the lights of the seven Classical planets. Hebrew astronomy encompasses a range of genres, from the earliest astronomy and cosmology contained in the Bible, to Jewish religious works like the Talmud and technical works. Some Persian and Arabian traditions ascribe the invention of astronomy to Adam, Seth, and Enoch, who may have created the signs of the zodiac and the names of the stars as a mnemonic device to tell the story of the Bible. Historian Flavius Josephus claims that Seth and his offspring preserved ancient astronomical knowledge in pillars of stone.

What does God say about chakras?

The Bible does not explicitly mention the chakras or energy, which may seem like a cause for concern. However, it is important to note that the Bible is not the only source of information about God’s creation. It also shares God’s promises in the world. The Bible was not intended to be an exhaustive text describing the intricacies of God’s creation. However, we can find concepts like the “breath of life” in Genesis 2:7, which refers to the vital life force or life-giving energy. This highlights the importance of considering the Bible as the Word of God and not as an exhaustive description of God’s creation.

Why don’t Christians believe in chakras?

The concept of chakras, which are believed to be spinning vortexes or wheels of energy, is often regarded as pagan by Christians, who view them as a form of “Eastern” mysticism. Nevertheless, the New Age chakra movement eschews Christianity as an oppressive belief system. In ancient Indian spiritual traditions, chakras are described as spinning vortices located at various points in the body. In the early stages of yogic practice, practitioners identified seven key nodes that could be used to regulate pranic flow.

Does the Bible talk about manifesting?

Romans 4:17, a scripture used to defend manifestation, is often misquoted. It is not about us, but about God. Paul wrote to the Romans in chapter 4 about Abraham, who was called the father of many nations in the presence of God who gives life to the dead and calls into existence the things that do not exist. We have the power to pray and speak deliverance over others, but only through humility and submission. Exercising authority in the Lord always follows the surrender we practice when we acknowledge God’s sovereign nature.

Is it okay for Christians to believe in luck?

As Christians, we are guided by the will of God, who is omniscient and omnipotent, and whose plans for our lives are not dependent on luck or serendipity. As the creator and sustainer of all things, God is aware of our existence even before we are born.

What does the Bible say about astrology and crystals?

In Leviticus 20:6, Daniel explains that wise men, enchanters, magicians, and astrologers cannot reveal the mystery king Nebuchadnezzar has asked. Instead, God reveals the future to King Nebuchadnezzar through a divine revelation. These practices, such as divination, astrology, and other supernatural methods, are rooted in witchcraft and are viewed as evil by God. The enemy, who rules this world, often provides accurate information to sway people away from God.

The enemy also has power to turn souls away from God, using various tools, such as astrology, to achieve this goal. Many people are unaware of the dangers associated with these practices, as they are often used to buy clothing for their children without realizing it. Therefore, wisdom should come from God alone.

Does astrology have anything to do with religion?

Astrology, the study of how stars and planets affect life on Earth, has been intertwined with religious beliefs since ancient times. In ancient civilizations, people believed stars were gods, with Babylonians having a system where planets were linked to their gods. In Egypt, stars were believed to be divine and controlled everything happening on Earth. This connection between astrology and religious beliefs has been evident throughout history and culture.

What does the Bible say about astronomy?

In Psalm 8:3-4, David contemplates the greatness of God, observing the stars overhead. Psalm 19:1:1-6 celebrates the heavens’ glory, highlighting the sun’s position against the stars. Psalms 81:3 and 104:19 suggest that God created the moon to mark seasons, the Hebrew calendar’s appointed times. In Isaiah 38:1-8, God performs a miracle to prove King Hezekiah’s sickness and save the city from destruction by making the shadow on the royal sundial go backwards.

Why is astrology not allowed in Christianity?

In Matthew 28:18, Jesus asserts that all authority in heaven and on earth has been given to him. This contradicts biblical wisdom, as chasing after false gods is a sin. There is no biblical evidence that God has given authority to stars or astrologists. Pursuing predictions about our destiny or personality is biblically sinful, as it takes power from God and gives it to something other than God. A horoscope cannot change what God has already ordained before we were even created.

What does the Bible say about numerology and astrology?

In Deuteronomy 18:10-12 (King James Version), it is stated that no individual shall be found who makes their son or daughter pass through fire, uses divination, observes times, enchants, or consults with familiar spirits. Additionally, the text specifies that no one shall be found who is a wizard or a necromancer.
