Are Spells Outside Of A Realm Usable By Clerics?

Clerics can prepare domain spells only in their domain spell slot, and they cannot cast spells spontaneously. They are typically exclusive to Clerics of their respective domains, such as Light-Domain Clerics. However, if a spell is both on a domain list and the general Cleric spell list (such as bless), a cleric can prepare it from the entire cleric spell list.

Clerics do not learn spells but prepare them from the entire cleric spell list. As a level 3 cleric, they can prepare a number of spells equal to 3 + wisdom mod, and any of those. Casting domain spells is still limited by the numbers and levels of spells they can cast per long rest.

The PHB states that once a cleric gains a domain spell, they always have it prepared and it doesn’t count against the number of spells they can prepare each day. As a conduit for divine power, clerics can cast cleric spells, including cantrips. At 1st level, clerics know three cantrips of their choice from the cleric spell list and learn additional cleric cantrips.

As a player, they will get a variety of spells to pick from, and a general rule for Forge Clerics is to stick to their domain list, as it’s designed for the tank/support playstyle. Clerics can take as many spells as equal to their wisdom modifier plus their current cleric level and are not restricted to the spells attached to their deity’s chosen domain.

Clerics can choose any domain as long as it isn’t opposed by its deity. They can specialize in a themed set of spells, some of which share names with clerical domains, but the variant doesn’t grant domain access.
