Chant of Vitu-Ghazi is a powerful spell in Ravnica: City of Guilds that can be cast by tapping any untapped creature. It reduces the cost of each creature by 1 or 2, and when cast, it becomes a legendary 0/0 Elemental creature with haste named Vitu-Ghazi. The spell can be played as a three-drop attack, blocking opponents’ two drop or three drop attacks without causing a massive tempo blowout.
The spell can also be used to summon untapped creatures, even those not controlled continuously since the beginning of your most recent turn. Official rulings for Chant of Vitu-Ghazi include including alternative costs, additional costs, and other factors when calculating a spell’s total cost. Repeatable bounce effects like Crystal Shard can be used, but they are more clunky and may not be worth the effort.
To activate a disguise on a face-down creature, players must ensure that their spells and permanents can be easily differentiated from each other. They cannot mix up cards representing different types of creatures. The Disguise mechanic in MKM leans into this trope, allowing players to play two lands and potentially strip mining the opponent for free if they murder the Vitu Ghazi.
In summary, the Chant of Vitu-Ghazi is a powerful spell that can be cast by tapping any untapped creature, and its effectiveness depends on the player’s ability to differentiate face-down spells and permanents.

It’s the end of a rotation and this is exactly what I needed… a little joy on Arena. Red Deck wins has really been draining my spirit. Thanks so much for the content you offer. Every time I watch your articles, I smile. You teach the Tao of Jank like a true master. I crafted Kiora ages ago as a tribute to you. #MadRespect
Yer doing it wrong. Don’t really know why you’re in white if you’re only running Planar Cleansing and Birth of Meletis. I highly suggest Simic instead of Selesnya. That way you get tasty bits like Skatewing Spy to give Vitu-Ghazi flying, better draw power for consistency, and the mack-daddy Growth Spiral (nothing blows an OPP out of the game like a turn four 9/9 to the mouth). Having said that, Awakening of Vitu-Ghazi is a hugely underutilized card and I’m stoked to see it on your website. Great website, btw.
