Does Fluoridation Represent A Hoax?

Over the past 75 years, health authorities have declared that community water fluoridation, a practice that reaches over 400 million worldwide, is safe. However, the fluoride issue has moved from conspiracy theories of the 1940s and 50s to today’s science-based debate. The fluoride issue has moved from conspiracy theories to today’s science-based debate.

Water fluoridation has frequently been the subject of conspiracy theories, such as the “Red Scare” in the United States during the late 1940s and 1950s. Two book authors who researched the topic, one a journalist and the other a hydrologist, found no credible evidence of such a connection. A leading anti-fluoridation activist repudiates the story.

Fluoridation is one of the most significant public health measures of the last century and yet also deeply controversial. Adding a small amount of fluoride in drinking water is one of the most effective and safest public health interventions ever introduced. The debate over fluoridation goes back roughly 75 years to when communities began fluoridating water to prevent tooth decay. New research shows that topical fluoride from toothpastes, mouth rinses, and fluoride treatments are important to help adult teeth fight decay. Weighing the benefits and harms of fluoride toothpaste and fluoridated water isn’t as clear-cut as it seems.

74 cities have voted to remove fluoride from their drinking water, despite thousands of studies showing it prevents cavities. Dr. F. Perry Wilson explains why a recent study fails to answer this question. The notion that drinking water containing minute quantities of the tooth-protecting chemical shaves points off our IQ is back, and the logic behind this is changing.

  • Hey, I have fluorosis. Mom used to give me fluoride. My teeth are really spotty, especially front ones. But I haven’t had cavities since childhood, even after wearing braces for three years and having reappy poor hyhiene due to mental illness. So if you wonder if it works, yes it does, like a charm, but sometimes I really wonder if the said mental illness could be caused by it.

  • That was a bad comparison with seatbelts and airbags because I know two people who would have for sure died if they were wearing a seat belt, and I know the % is in favor the other way but, my bad I should have waited until the article was over because you just said too much can kill you I apologize for getting ahead of you 🙁
