How Do Gangas Aid In Bosnian Courtship Customs?

The research on ganga in Bosnia and Herzegovina provides evidence of the long-lasting socio-cultural coexistence and inter-relationship of different ethnicities. Bosnian Muslims often identify themselves against Serbia, while Bosnian Serbs share a culture with their Serb neighbors. The former USSR country has emerged as a European travel hidden gem, with its blend of rugged natural beauty and hospitality. This article explores inter-ethnic dating in Bosnia-Herzegovina and how an adaption of contact theory can help explain it.

Gender and racial differences in the assessment of dating rituals help us explore the extent to which relationship activities are given similar importance across different ethnicities. Ganga plays a vital role in worship, ceremonies, rituals of birth and initiation, purification, religious merit, marriage, and death. In Bosnia, religious festivals are celebrated with great enthusiasm, and for Bosnian Muslims, “Bajram” (Eid) is a time of feasting and family gatherings.

In courtship rituals, women use ganga as a means of expressing emotions and communication. Ganga performance allows women to convey their feelings, desires, and emotions. The Mahabharata connects Ganga to the protagonists through three events: Ganga’s marriage to Shantanu, drowning the children, and Bhima’s drowning.

Preventive interventions focus on capacity, and gangs act like surrogate families to many gang members, providing emotional affection, recognition, protection, support, and a sense of belonging. Prosecution of gender-targeted crimes is the legal proceedings to prosecute crimes such as rape and domestic violence.

In summary, the research on ganga in Bosnia and Herzegovina highlights the long-lasting socio-cultural coexistence and inter-relationship of different ethnicities in the region. Future research can expand on these findings and explore more diverse cultural aspects of the region.

What does 18 mean in gangs?

Eighteenth Street (18th Street) is a transnational gang originating in Los Angeles’ Pico-Union District, known as a mara or sophisticated gang due to its presence in El Salvador and Central America. The gang, also known as Barrio 18, Calle 18, Mara 18, and M-18, originated in the Rampart District during the early 1960s. It formed in the area where the Santa Monica and Harbor Freeway intersect, near 18th Street and Union Avenue. According to Dr.

Al Valdez, an adjunct professor at the University of California, Irvine and retired head of the gang investigation unit at the Orange County District Attorney’s Office, 18th Street was established because a previous gang, Clanton Street, only recruited and admitted Mexicans.

This selective membership led to the creation of the 18th Street gang, which was later named after its founders. The gang’s origins and migration/diffusion are often discussed in transnational contexts.

The infirmary, originally built as the Old Gaol’s hospital cell, houses a display about South Africa’s prison gangs and is partially preserved as such. The infirmary was not typical of the cells, and the shower and toilet were added in the early 20th Century. Although no record of gang activity in the Old Gaol exists, gangs are a real aspect of life in many South Africa’s prisons today.

How do females get initiated into gangs?

The number of girls in gangs is increasing, both male and female. Girls join gangs for financial opportunities, identity, status, peer pressure, family dysfunction, and protection. Some join for stimulation, excitement, and social activities. Gang membership is often linked to skipping school, drinking, drug experimentation, low-level crimes, and sexual activity that may lead to pregnancy. The prime ages for girls to join gangs are 13 and 14, with crimes peaking at age 15 and continuing through age 18.

Initiation procedures may include physical beatings, criminal acts, sex with male gang members, or being “blessed in”. Girls can play various roles in gangs, including auxiliary members, coed gang members, all-female gang members, or female leaders. In male gangs, girls may hold and transport drugs and guns, infiltrate law enforcement agencies, act as lures for information, and participate in criminal acts. Leaving a gang requires a strong desire to leave, as it involves dangers and safety requirements, such as leaving the gang’s neighborhood.

What is the purpose of most gangs?

Gangs are groups of individuals who adopt a group identity to create fear or intimidation. They are typically organized based on racial, ethnic, or political lines and use common names, slogans, aliases, symbols, tattoos, clothing styles, hairstyles, hand signs, or graffiti. The primary purpose of gangs is to engage in criminal activity and use violence or intimidation to achieve their criminal objectives and maintain their power, reputation, or economic resources.

Gangs also provide common defense against rival criminal organizations or exercise control over specific locations or regions. They maintain perpetuating characteristics like manifestos, constitutions, and codes of conduct, providing a structure for initiation and advancement. Gangs distinguish themselves from other criminal groups like La Cosa Nostra and transnational criminal organizations who rely on secrecy and clandestine control.

How do gangsters treat their girlfriends?

Gangsters often keep their girlfriends hidden about their criminal activities to protect them from reprisals and detection. However, in some cases, girls face violence, including rape, from their own gang or rivals, believing they cannot turn to authorities for help. This was revealed in a report by social policy think tank Race on the Agenda, which highlights the impact of youth violence on girls.

What functions do gangs fulfill?

What functions do gangs fulfill?

Maslow’s theory suggests that individuals yearn to satisfy their physiological needs, such as food and shelter, through gang membership. Poverty is a correlation between food insecurity, unstable housing, and gang involvement, with hunger and housing being related factors. Gang membership may appeal to youth under the legal working age of 14 who are unattractive due to long hours and minimal pay. Gangs can provide income through criminal activities like drug and weapons trafficking, and they can also offer members a sense of protection by providing weapons and a sense of safety in numbers.

Maslow explains that all individuals have a need to feel safe in their environment. Youth living in areas run by gangs and violence are at an increased risk of joining gangs, possibly due to safety needs. This lack of safety exists across contexts, including neighborhood and home. Studies suggest that individuals living in neighborhoods with a significant gang presence have a greater likelihood of joining a gang, possibly due to learned behavior.

The Hierarchy of Needs illustrates this relationship between neighborhood gangs and gang involvement as due to youth feeling unsafe in their environments, thus looking to meet their safety needs through gang membership.

What are initiation rituals for gangs?

What are initiation rituals for gangs?

Gang initiation involves a series of tests or rituals, such as jumpin”in, robbery, shoplifting, rape, burglary, drive-by shooting, stealing a gun, assaulting a rival, or self-mutilation. Successful exit from a gang is often achieved through beating down or jumping out, which can result in severe injury. If a member chooses to leave without being beaten down or jumped out, their former friends may resort to extreme violence. However, when a member manages to leave with dignity, they still retain their former enemies.

The excitement of gang activity, often involving violence and cultural biases, and the acceptance of fellow gang members provide social support and community involvement that are often lacking in the lives of young male gang members.

  • Fantastic article! Yes, I have been to Bosnia and Herzegovina including many of the places you mentioned such as Mosta, Trebinje monastery and others. I was bummed out that despite visiting Kravice waterfall, only 10 miles away from Croatian border, due to lack of time I didn’t drive through Croatia. The food is incredibly flavorful in that entire region. Yes, the AJVAR is very popular in that region but it’s pronounced AI-VAR 😅 with silent J. Thanks for a fabulous article! Keep them coming!

  • I went to Bosnia as a young soldier in 1994. I heard a true historical situation where when the Germans invaded in 1941 a German soldier accidentally discharged his rifle and shot the Mostar bridge. His German officer was so outraged that the soldier had shot a historical monument he pulled out his pistol and executed the soldier. Bosnia looks much nicer than when I was there. Hopefully they have cleared many of the land mines. 🇧🇦 🇳🇿

  • I spent all of 2004 in BiH. Beautiful country and wonderful people. Spent most of my time in the northeast and visited many places. Tuzla, Brcko, Bijeljina, Modrica, Doboj, Teslic, Gracanica, Srebrenik, Lukavac, Kalesija, Banovici, Sarejevo, Zenica, Bratunac, Srebrenica, Olova and several others. Really wanted to get down to Mostar, but couldn’t get it done.

  • When I lived in Vienna in 1996, I traveled to Turkey by train, via Bosnia and Serbia. It was very scary. Bosnia was wonderful in many ways, especially the kind people and the great food. But Serbia, what a friggin nightmare.I thought that they would steal my kidney on the train. I had to bribe every official just to stay alive.

  • Every “j” pronouncing as “Y” ….BiH have second shortest coastline in the world (less then 20 km with one town on it – Neum) . First WW started in Sarajevo 1914. when Gavrilo Princip killed Austro-Hungarian prince Franz Ferdinand. BiH is the only Slavic country with Muslim majority. In BiH you can write Latinic and Cirilic letters equaly. both letters are official. The tallest men (age 18 to 38) in Europe live in town Čapljina (Chaplina) in Herzegovina 186,8 cm average! you can skiing on Jahorina, sit in a car and for one hour you will be on the hot mediterranean beach in Neum swimming and sunbathing!

  • I was transiting in 2014 from Hungary towards Montenegro. the road is fantastically beautiful, although in some places it was not, and I did not know how we would part in the event of an oncoming car But people there with a great “communist” past, get a bribe, do not give change, deceive a foreigner on trifles – literally in everything. But the nature is very beautiful, especially in the mountains closer to Montenegro

  • If Kingdom of Bosnia existed as a independent kingdom and Herzegovina, as well Dalmatia, eastern part of Montenegro and western part of today’s Sandzak (Serbia) were part of that kingdom, how is Bosnia a “historical region”, of what country anyway?! 🤔 Besides, when have the “region” of Bosnia and the region of Herzegovina joined to form one unit, a state? Is it safe to say that when regions join forces they become a country, on what historical grounds? All of those questions are legit to ask when claiming that both Herzegovina and Bosnia are regions? The region of Herzegovina was incorporated into the official name of the state through a complex of historical circumstances and thus, the name of the country today is Bosnia ‘and Herzegovina’. Herzegovina was added when Austria-Hungary annexed Eyalet of Bosnia after Kongress of Berlin in 1878. Historically speaking, Bosnia can be anything but not a region! Other than that, great article 👍

  • Some wrong facts in this article: Calling Banja Luka “capital of RS” and Sarajevo “capital of Federation of Bosnia-Herzegovina” implies that Sarajevo is capital only of one half of the country / one of the country’s entities. And that is incorrect. Sarajevo is The Bosnia-Herzegovina capital. Never heard of sweet potatoes being one of the Ajvar-ingredients. Main ingredients are red peppers, aubergines, onions, garlic Also, regarding stews, while you will find gulasch in Bosnia it’s absolutely not a Bosnian flagship stew. The traditional Bosnian stew is actually called “Bosnian Stew / Bosnian Pot” (“bosanski lonac”). It’s a cabbage / potatoe / carrot / onion / lamb and beef meat based dish. And also people love to eat the all-Yugoslav beans-stew…simply refered to as “grah / pasulj” – simply good tasting beans with sausages and smoke-dried meat. Also your pronounciation of the places is horrible, especially when converting every “J” letter to “H”-kind of sound. But generally still nice article. Come visit Bosnia! 🙂

  • You forgot to say that there are three different histories in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Every nation has its own history, which is contrary to others, and in that there is a lot of manipulation and playing with politics. The fact is that medieval Bosnia was an independent state, an independent kingdom, for only 14 years, from 1377 to 1391. The entire history of the region of Bosnia is an integral part of the medieval Croatian state and later, the Hungarian-Croatian kingdom. Today’s Bosnia and Herzegovina has its foundations in the Ottoman conquests. The borders were determined in the wars of the Ottomans against Austria-Hungary and Venice, Christians (Catholics) against Muslims. For this reason, even today, in Bosnia and Herzegovina, influences are visible: Turkish (Bosnian people), Eastern European-Orthodox (Serbian people), Western European-Catholic (Croatian people).

  • This is why in the industry we say “you don’t profile race, you profile behavior. Look at his body language before the act. If an Officer would have stopped him and conducted a simple frisk, that Lady would have been alive. I will profile the crap out of anybody if they act like that around the area that I’m observing and protecting.

  • This was a “hit”, no doubts in my mind. And it looks like he’s in communication with someone. Maybe he has an earpiece in. The way he keeps pulling something out of his pocket, waving his hands around while talking, and most of all, without looking in the directions she’s coming from, he knew exactly when to hide behind the wall. RIP Shamecca. Condolences to family and love ones. 😥💔🙏 Edit: Forgot to comment that SOMEONE knows who this is. #silenceiscomplicity

  • Whats you mean $20000 reward oohhhh man, If the cops are still looking for this dummy, you guys should start with the guy was talking to, they both knew why the shooter was there and he obviously knew when to walk into the store. i mean wtf, thats 2 suspects already in one article, even though I can’t see his face to see a mask or anything, I’m pretty sure you’ll have a good lead there

  • My thing is, who was the guy he was talking to at the store, and the other person that was standing right there on the right hand side of the article when he pulled his gun like it was legal and basically didn’t even try to hide it. I highly doubt he would’ve acted so nonchalant about the whole act if he didn’t know those ppl

  • Please bring back stop and frisk. I know it maybe a code of violation to most people but what about the violation of the one who’s going to kill you and or someone so dear to you. *Stop and frisk *Eye for an eye *if someone puts out another’s eye, one of the offender’s eyes should be put out… I can guarantee there will be less murders period.

  • Check the school systems out there. Hes definitely a young dude. Check the local school pics for that face because wtf??? Thats a young ass fool. Comfortable enough to stand out there but dumb enough to cover his face just before committing? Could she had been a teacher or neighbor of his? 20k is not enough for justice is it? Damn

  • They need to check every state jail data base to see if he already in jail or have been to jail I am sure he been to jail they need to do a through check on how the women knew doing that time & who they knew or knows that fit the descriptions because it definitely was a set up frfr!!! • “I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.” Always playing victim while being the usual suspect. Targeting the elderly, women, and minorities in hate crimes nationwide daily. Heinous acts like this are common the ⬛️ community.

  • This wasn’t a random killing. He waiting for her many minutes. Like he knew her lifestyle and outdoors behavior. Maybe it his ex gf that broke up with him. Due to be a toxic and crazy. She probably broke his little heart. And that his way getting pay back with by killing her 😳💀☠ unexpectedly coldblooded. Could be a crime of passion. He kill her maybe because she broke up with him. If that not the case she probably snitch on him to get justice💪🏿 for someone she like or love. The last thing is Maybe she has a boyfriend or husband or family member that his enemy. Since he has a hard time finding that person. She was the second best option to kill. Normally woman don’t get kill Brutally. Unless they did something Crazy like use to set guys up, give a guy HIV, or something cheated many times. Woman rarely get kill like this. I don’t understand why he had so much hate to kill her that way?

  • Well what did she do first ? Did she offend him days Pryor to this Is there a hit out on her and he’s just beginning his Hitman career We can’t just take her side like he’s the bad guy what if she was the most evil modern day women alive always saying Men are trash From what I seen and my angle she had It coming that’s God’s will
