The Eye of Agamotto, also known as the Eye of Truth or the All-Seeing Eye of Infinity, is a powerful relic created by the first Sorcerer Supreme, Agamotto, to dispel illusions and banish evil. It was first introduced in “The Origin of Dr. Strange” and is commonly possessed by the Sorcerer Supreme of Earth.
The Eye of Agamotto is a mystic amulet bestowed by the Vishanti upon the individual designated as Earth’s Sorcerer Supreme. Strange offered the amulet to Conan, who refused it for not trusting sorcery. After he had no use for it anymore, Strange locked it.
The Amulet of Agamotto, a similar but less powerful version of the Eye of Agamotto, lacks the ability to serve as a gateway to other dimensions. It can provide mystic illumination, penetrate illusions, and track both corporeal and ethereal beings by their emissions, be they magical or psychic in nature. It can also see and manipulate time, energy, and space.
Dr. Strange uses the Eye of Agamotto at least twice, lifting veils, revealing hidden objects, and opening locks and barriers. It can also see into other timelines and dimensions and create portals to transport others into those places. The Orb is utilized by Dr. Strange to view events on Earth and in other dimensions, and it can also access the realm of Agamotto.
The pendant, made from durable alloy, features a realistic time stone that lights up with LED illumination, adding a touch of magic to your costume or display. The Amulet of Agamotto, a similar but less powerful version of the Eye of Agamotto, appears to lack the Eye’s ability to serve as a gateway to other dimensions.

Is Agamotto evil?
Agamotto, a member of the Vishanti, is a powerful entity born from the Elder Goddess Oshtur around 250, 000 BC. He was moved by a young boy who experienced joy and shed a tear, leading to his birth. As a mortal, Agamotto became Earth’s first Sorcerer Supreme before becoming one of the Vishanti and leaving Earth’s dimension. He is known for sight, light, and truth, and is involved in spells of pure mystical light, revealing or dispelling illusions, reading minds, and compelling honesty.
Agamotto’s thirst for knowledge and power overpowered him, leading to his fall to evil. He was sealed in a alternate dimension by his mother for millennia until Baron Mordo opened a portal allowing him to escape. Agamotto intended to claim the Eye of Agamotto from Doctor Strange to restore his full power and take over the world. However, his superior skills and power proved too overwhelming, and he was eventually defeated by Strange and Iron Man.
As the Sorcerer Supreme of the Universe, Agamotto possesses extremely powerful magical abilities, which he can channel to certain mystics, mainly the Sorcerer Supreme of the Earth dimension. He has held his own against entities of power like Dormammu and Galactus on several occasions, making it apparent that his full power can rival either of them. As the Vishanti, their power and omniscience are even further magnified.
Agamotto is described as “all-knowing”, implying omniscience in dimensions beyond his own. His abilities to gather knowledge make him prone to knowledge concerning cosmic entities in other universes, such as Galactus. Doctor Strange was unable to banish Agamotto back to his own realm, even when invoking the united strength of Dormammu, Cytorrak, Watoomb, Raggadorr, Denak, the Seraphim, the Faltine, Ikonn, and Valtorr to fuel the spell. Agamotto can also shapeshift to other creatures or entities.
What is the Eye of Agamotto used for?
The Eye of Agamotto is a mystical item in Marvel Comics, used by Doctor Strange to see through disguises, illusions, past events, and track both ethereal and corporeal beings through psychic or magical emissions. Created by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko, it was first introduced in “The Origin of Dr. Strange” in 1963. The Eye was inspired by the real-world charm The All Seeing Eye of the Buddha, known as The Amulet of Snail Martyrs, a Nepali symbol meant to protect its wearer against evil.
The Eye of Agamotto appears in various Marvel-related media, including the Marvel Cinematic Universe, with its first appearance in Doctor Strange, where it contains the Time Stone, one of the fictional universe’s Infinity Stones. The Eye of Agamotto is a powerful weapon of wisdom and is released from time to time.
What does Dr. Strange’s 3rd eye mean?
In the comics, Doctor Strange’s third eye is an organic manifestation of the Eye of Agamotto, representing the wisdom of sorcerer Agamotto and his fellow Vishanti. It allows Strange to see his enemies’ true intentions and break magical illusions. However, in the MCU, Doctor Strange’s third eye appears involuntarily after using the Darkhold, which corrupts any being that uses it. This pulled Agatha Harkness and Scarlet Witch into villainy, and Doctor Strange grew a third eye despite limiting his exposure to it.
Some details contradict this dark omen and distinguish Doctor Strange as a magic user in the MCU. Agatha Harkness and Scarlet Witch actively sought the Darkhold for selfish purposes, and they didn’t suffer many physical changes beyond their darkened fingers. Doctor Strange only used the Darkhold as a last resort to stop the Scarlet Witch, and his body was affected to the point of growing a third eye.

One annoying thing about the sorcerers from the mcu is how they basically fear everything and never try to push the boundaries. Where the magical research? What happens if you put the space stone inside of the eye of agamotto? Reality stone? Why doesn’t strange enchant things for the avengers? A nanotech sling ring would be the most useful weapon/tool anyone could have.
There’s so much he could’ve done with this Time travel, pushing time through himself so his hands go back to the way they used to before the accident, stopping his own time so he’d never age, sending threats back in time so they’re not a threat in the present, creating a field around him that stops time so anyone entering the field can’t hurt him
Its so crazy how everything said here has become something important now in recent years. Creating branches in time (Endgame and Loki with the TVA). Unstable dimensional openings (MoM with incursions and The Marvels/Ms. Marvel with the Quantum Bands). Time loops (yeah it happens here but it also returns in What If and Loki). I used to think that everything new about the Multiverse Saga was just new things established at this new period of time. But to think this stuff has already been mentioned before. Of course they didn’t plan ahead like this but its still amazing how a movie in 2017 included terms that would shape the future of the MCU now
It always takes the right person with the right talent to go into the right field to make some drastic changes or impact on the world. Like anyone with the sob story could have gone to Kamar taj, but only Stephen strange with photographic memory could just be there for less than a year and become the Sorcerer supreme.
just a thought crossed my mind. The Time Stone seem to has the ability to make a copy of anything, many time over. Imagine the apple he used to test the spell, if he cut that apple in half, bring the 2 halves far away from each other, then use the Time Stone to reverse time on each half, then he would have himself 2 copy of the exact 1 apple. The test on the book showed that the spell can bring back the 2 stolen pages, but the movie didn’t show what happened with the original 2 stolen pages.
I’m surprised Doctor Strange didn’t think to use time manipulation on his hands. Try to move his hands through time to revert them back to how they were before his accident. I’m not sure if such a thing would be possible, whether or not there’d be deadly consequences, or if it wouldn’t require an entire body reset so it wouldn’t just work on his hands alone. But, I’m just surprised that he didn’t try it.
Can’t wait for Clea cause Ik 100% that Dormammu gonna return no guarantees on that and the other main Mordo still out there and he gonna team up with Dormammu to like how Kaecilius did and got powers from the Dark Dimension in the first movie and I am hoping for Umar to come as well and Kaecilius might return and team up with all them to take down Strange
All the things written on that book is in Devnagari script or sanskrit…. But it doesn’t make any sense 🙄… I know sanskrit and Hindi but can’t understand what’s written on it … They just took random letters from our language’s script 😂😂 Edit – Sanskrit is world’s oldest alive language, our all Hindu texts are written in Sanskrit 💪🏻
