Thanks for the article! The AoPADaL is powerful indeed. I even think Augury and other Divination spells and devices would fail when it comes to someone wearing this amulet. Regarding its counterpart, I like “cursed” items seeming to be the better half until something big can happen. Like the “cursed” item is teasing you with minor effects and then when the chips are down, major fail. I know this borders on suggesting such items have intelligence but I prefer to think of it as a “cursed” item being imbued with some level of malignancy, in the general sense of the word.
These are great, Tony! You cover lots of items I’ve never seen in a game and some I don’t even remember reading about back when -I- was fascinated by page 121 and on. I always enjoy hearing about the circumstances of you handling them out or how the characters used them. It just now occurred to me that it might be really fun to know if any of the items you cover are found in popular published modules from back then. Though I can see that being potential spoilers for players.
You mentioned scrying a group but the scryer just not able to see you. Are you sure about that? Should they be prohibited from scrying your “location”? I would think so myself since it doesn’t make you invisible to the scryer. It does make them unable to scry your location. Perhaps they could scry the others until you got within the range of their magic. At that time it might scramble like a TV losing reception. Thoughts?
