If someone care here is whole process how i discovered this thing. I had already long god run but i didn’t knew what to do next, so i decided to do some weird experiments. At first i wanted to collect magical liquid to flask to check does it has any effect if consumed (only fullness, sadly), then i decided to fungal shift it, because why not. Magical liquid has turned to vomit and it took me over 20 minutes to realize that my shields aren’t blue anymore.
I love how in this game where you could hit a lantern too much and bonk yourself to death you can also casually obtain more shields made of Liquid Void than any Angel from the damn Evangelion, lmao. Also Sand, Pea soup, Diamond or Silver shield are interesting from a meta standpoint. Imagine if a way to shift (he he) the material of the shield was not that convoluted and definable, so you can shift it intentionally into something that you like, and then specific materials show different special effects, like lava or poison or radioactive sludge deal their damage, diamond regenerate slower but protect better (also refract light based stuff?), sand regens much faster but also protects weaker unless not in sand/desert, and pea soup make hisi 50% frendlier (aka analog of 2 “less hostility” perks) or something, lmao. Just think of the possibilities.. maybe even one when you can have different shield types on one person (complete the collection, have E V E R Y sheild, even the poo poo pee pee ones!!! HA HAA) etc.
Talking about fungal shifting. I like to create some molten gold early game, kick up a pixel of the stuff and catch it in an empty bottle. Make some mystery fungus in the desert and fungal shift something into liquid gold. If you’re careful and carry a bottle of water while going through the game you’re a rich witch.
I’ve seen articles of the shield turning to gold after a midas ending before, but I always just assumed that it was made of some weird material that probably didn’t even have a localized name. I also got my first potential long run via invisibility and sadekiivi to get back towards the surface… and I lost it due to being noita’d by shenanigans with a plasma cross spell and trying to drain the lava lake to get the orb that’s underneath it.
