How To Resolve Issues With Magic Mouse Disconnect?

The Magic Mouse may be experiencing disconnect problems due to a loose battery terminal contact inside the device. This can be caused by interference with other Bluetooth devices in your workspace or a weak design of the battery compartment. To fix this issue, follow these steps:

  1. Turn off and on the device.
  2. Check if the Magic Mouse or Magic Mouse 2 is tracking properly. If it’s not working, check the power, battery, pairing, and settings.
  3. Reset the Bluetooth module.
  4. Check if the Magic Mouse is freezing temporarily even though it’s fully charged and connected via Bluetooth.
  5. Check the software, battery, Bluetooth connection, and hardware status.
  6. Update macOS software and ensure there’s no interference problem. Double-check for a hardware failure.
  7. Use scissors to cut a piece of thin paper cardboard the size of the batteries. Lay this piece over the batteries before fitting it into the middle of the batteries.
  8. If the Magic Trackpad integration gets broken after a recent update, try uninstalling and reinstalling the device.
  9. Clean the mouse thoroughly.
  10. If none of these solutions work, consider seeking professional help.

  • I just saw that you already found a better solution than with your first article Rechargeable batteries have a shorter plug on the positive pole than standard batteries. That’s probably because these are wrapped thicker. The problem with the mouse is the Plus Connector because the plastic strip from the housing is in between. Therefore, the battery does not have a good connection. A simple solution is to put a piece of aluminum foil between the battery and the + connector. Great article BTW

  • i just use little wads of aluminum foil to increase the connectivity between the batteries and the contacts. I’ve been putting batteries into thousands of products since i was about 4 years old and this is the only time I’ve had this problem. Funny that a company like Apple could mess up something so simple.
